Just to chime in on your thread backfire, I've had some real bargains from them in the past (thanks to the guys in Cheap Arse Gaffer Euro). Never even had a problem with their famously lackadaisical shipping.

I am done with Zavvi.

I pre-ordered my PS4 from them and recieved it on Saturday rather than Friday, which isn't a big deal.

The big deal with that the price I had for my order was listed as £308 something, because they had let me apply a voucher to it when it was first announced. Come shipping, they take £350 out of my account.

I complain and am hit with "electronics and pre-orders can't be discounted under our terms and conditions" and I made the point that, wholly, that's irrelevent, because they took the money from my account and didn't update me before they did.

Overall, they refused to do anything about it and apart from telling me I could return it and get my money back.

So, yeah.

Oh I forgot to mention, when I ordered my PS4 from Zavvi, they were doing this referral deal, whereby you got 5% (or thereabout) off any order, if you referred a friend. I made a 2nd account using a different email and referred myself. I got £20 off my PS4. I can't hate them, just for that.

Not sure where you're based but I'm on the west coast of the US

My dark soul steels got shipped to me in bubble mailers, no box at all :(

Luckily 2 out of 4 made it to me safely (I ordered multiple because I knew Zavvi would eff it up)

Although I did get my Castlevania steels all right in the little cardboard boxes. Better than the damn bubble mailers

Hope things work out ok with your Castlevania steel

Have Zavvi improved the shipping speed in the last 1 or 2 years?

Holy shit I got Mario 3D World in less than 1 week (cost me just 46 euro).
In the past it usually took 3-4 weeks...

Stopped buying from Zavvi after over £100 was fraudulently taken from my bank account and traced back to one of their pop-up shopping-voucher shyster ad partners. Basically, my bank details were farmed from my Zavvi account without my approval. Zavvi insisted I'd signed up for this voucher scheme. I categorically had not. Took a long time and trading standards to get my money back. Turns out this company was already under investigation after months and months of complaints from other victims.

So, Zavvi - adios.

Pretty shitty of them to do the forced bundles but basically everyone is at the moment.
The reality of supply and demand.

That said never had any issues buying games and blu-rays from them shipped to Australia,
Made tons of orders and always received items fast and much cheaper than I can buy here.

I buy from Zavvi most of the time (I'm in Germany), and they seem to have the best price. Delivery is slow compared to Amazon (2 weeks) but so far I only had one or two issue with it in the past 3 years.

I'm that kind of consumer that buy games mostly 6 months or a year after the game is released though.

I've only had 1 bad experience with them, and it wasn't even that bad. My Blu Ray Little Mermaid came 4 days after release despite me pre-ordering it. Annoying yes, but not a deal breaker considering that the rest of my orders have gone through fine.

I'll never use them again, my Disney Infinity went missing in the post (not their fault), but it took them six weeks to issue a refund, even though it was sent by courier so presumably was tracked.

Ordered my Xbone from them on the day of the announce, when my bank card expired and I was issued a new one I emailed them to ask if I could update my payment details (I thought it weird there was no way to do this through the site), they emailed back to say that they did not allow order details to be updated "for security" (how adding another payment card is a security risk is a mystery to me), they then cancelled my order.

Luckily I had a back-up pre-order, but this is just amateur stuff from an online retailer.

I buy most of their BluRay Steelbooks. Delivery takes ages but I don't mind because I'm not paying for it. I only had one seriously damaged Steelbook and they did offer me a replacement so I can't say I had any serious troubles with them. Maybe I just don't expect their serice to be like amazons. Everyone who does... well....

I use them to get cheap games and Blu-Rays/DVDs. No huge problems with them in the 5 years I've ordered stuff from them. Saved me a lot of money compared to buying items here in Norway. Never pre-ordered from them though.

Gameplay = GAME (or it was since they've consolidated all the webshops into GAME now).

My last two orders from Zavvi were mildly annoying. I paid for their 'premium' next day DPD delivery where they promise next day delivery if you place your order before 8pm. I placed both orders at around 1pm and neither came the next day.

Plus the customer service is atrocious in my opinion. It took them ages to reply in the message center, and with an uninformative canned response. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Amazon's excellent dispatch/customer service. I'm a fan of Amazon's instant chat support.

prices are good, but when you're in a hurry just go to a physical shop or amazon prime

I guess problems with Zavvi are, that they sometimes ship from the Jersey Islands or something like that, while you think they ship from England, and so you have to pay customs.

I've generally had fairly good experiences with Zavvi.

Their stuff sometimes takes very long to arrive (five weeks once or twice, i think) and the game boxes are sometimes dented or have small cracks. But they're very cheap and they included the Dragon's Crown preorder artbook when it seemed like no retailer over here in the Netherlands was going to have it.

That said, their customer service can be really really poor at times. So when it goes wrong it really goes wrong.

One time my X-com didn't show up, so i asked for a replacement. They supposedly sent one, but the tracking looked very fishy. Then when nothing showed up they were like "40 days have passed since your order. We're not replacing anything. Bye!".
It ended well after sending a whole bunch of angry mails, but still.

Notice they raised the price from £629.99 for the bundle to £719.99 and it includes two games that no one wants (NBA 2014, Just Dance).

Fuck forcing people to buy shit games in order to get the console and while I love the Vita myself, including it to shift dead stock (3G unit) is not fair on the consumer.

Horrible company.

He knows it includes a Vita and is angry at Zavvi for increasing the price at the last minute.

My last order still came from the Jersey Islands last month IIRC.
The problem though is, if you order you dont really know if they ship directly from england (no custom-tax) or from somewhere else outside the EU.

Read a lot of bad stories for zavvi which make me avoid them when I can really.
Though I've ordered one thing from memory, which was the Resident Evil Revelations Circle Pad Pro bundle, which got here on launch, so I have nothing bad to say about them really.

I just hear they're slow for delivery and can be bad for customer service.

Yeah. That's bad. I only order stuff that's below the VAT limit here. The charge the postal service takes for customs processing is horrid.
