So what'd you guys think of Edward's journey? I read some plot details from the AC Novel 'Forsaken', dude's life takes a pretty shitty turn after that semi-optimistic ending. The first half of the plot was sorta meh. I liked Edward, he was a totally unabashed dick, but then when shit started raining on him, he became kinda interesting. Great voice actor. I guess it was around him getting marooned he started to get interesting. Man, pretty much all his friends died. I did end up liking him a lot and that he his journey was to become selfless and humbled after all his suffering.
Bartholomew Roberts was such a weird villain. So he's a reincarnation of one of the Alien Precursor god-dicks? That guy had the weirdest accent and line delivery, but I loved it.
The Observatory, I will admit, was a really cool-if-nonsensical plot device. The ultimate surveillance machine. Loved it being a Crystal skull, and the whole sequence leading up to the discovery of it and then again coming to kill Torres was atmospherically really nice. The death sequences for his targets were nicely changed. Some survived, some were spared, and he wasn't an Assassin for most of them.
The modern day stuff remains mostly incomprehensible, but I guess the Ubi parody stuff was amusing. It's a nice breather, I guess. Wonder what happens now that they have John's body. Also, UGH JUNO SHOWED UP AGAIN SO OVER THAT. The modern story line is just so odd I find it hard to track now. The reincarnation aspect was interesting. At the very least, they introduced more mystery that didn't leave me feeling deflated (Reincarnation and The Observatory). Neat twists and ideas, but maybe too late.
Oh, I LOVED Edward's hallucination/dream sequence. I'm a sucker for that stuff. It was done really well. They always nail the historical parts, and I loved how it played out.
That was a great bit. I liked they put that in there. Roberts' actor nailed it.So with a great flapping and rustling of feathers, the jackdaw came down swiftly and clutched at the coat of a large ram. But when he tried to fly away, he found he could not lift the animal, for his size and strength were not up to the task. And even as the jackdaw struggled, the ram hardly noticed he was there. Nearby, just across the field, the shepherd saw the fluttering bird and was quite amused. Running up, he captured the jackdaw and clipped its wings. That evening he gave the jackdaw to his children as a gift. "What an odd little bird this is, father!" they laughed and shouted. "What do you call him?" "This is a jackdaw," the father said. "But if you should ask him, he would claim to be an eagle."
