As for this guy this isn't the same by the sounds of it, as the other incident sounds like someone being racially profiled which doesn't apply here. Moreover I have seen on other sites commenting on this story where people who can speak Japanese have said the story from the tweets seems full of holes.

Women (and men) in anime often look quite child like because of the style, but all things considered it looks like they just thought his card was fake. That can happen with any nonstandard card. My wife has a Chase card with all the details on the back instead of the front, and she's had to explain it to a few people before they would accept it.

Tecmo has Dead or Alive credit cards to commemorate its 10th anniversary. Not sure if the promotion still works though.

wouldnt the easiest solution be to, I dont know, just run the card and see if it works first, and then maybe ask for ID if there is any suspicious. Callign the cops, and dealing with them seems like a lot more work to me.
