So here’s an odd twist of events. The Xbox One can’t play voice messages sent from the Xbox 360. Messages between our Founder/Editor-In-Chief, Karam, and our Senior Staff Writer, Buddy, resulted in the following message:

image

Just to be clear, Buddy tried to send a voice message from his Xbox 360 to Karam on his Xbox One. However, Karam couldn’t hear the voice message in question for unknown reasons. Perhaps the Xbox One’s voice messaging system uses an entirely different setup or possibly file type? It’s currently unknown but, for whatever reason, the messages can’t be heard. We aren’t sure if the issue is still prevalent if the tables are turned – sending a voice message from Xbox One to Xbox 360 can’t be heard. Maybe we can run a test and update the article as the results appear.

It should at least notify the user that the message has to be listened to from a 360.

Yep old, but rather unfortunate. Actually the xbox one has no voice messaging at all...one wonders whether this was another piece that missed the cut or they aren't planning to do it at all

Also xbox.com still doesn't show information about friends who are on the xbox one...just like the 360 in that regard

I don't think you can view your Xbox One achievements on it either. At least I couldn't find them.

Considering Xbox One has about 75% less features than the 360 it's no surprise!

Does the Xbone have any kind of special voice message service/system? If not, I don't see why.

It amazes me just how much wasn't brought forward day one. I'm sure a lot of it will return in time but it's so bizarre from a product continuation standpoint.

But hey, at least I can 5.1 out of my One's optical audio port... oh wait! With the lack of an optical audio port on the 360 E revision, it's like Microsoft wants to pretend we don't exist.

Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of voice messages: it's called Xbox 360

Does this really not work? There is no 5.1 audio with optical out? Is it just 2.1 then??

Is it normal that I only see "Xbox One" when I click on a Friend that's playing on One? It's not supposed to show me the game or app they're using?

I'd like to see the proof of this too.

Yeah. The connection between the two is fucking stupid for now.

If I go onto the xbox.com site, it's like me owning a one doesn't exist. Doesn't list my games/achievements and basically says use smartglass.

You can't, just like you can't listen to voice messages on Xbox.com or a GFWL game....
