I love it, because it's God damn true. I also hated MoH: Warfighter, but game-specific tags are a bit more gimmicky.
I can't stand the MP for whatever reason compared to previous iterations
Extinction is the only mode I find redeeming but not worth half the cost of the game
Well, it's that or Destiny.Originally Posted by IchigoSharingan

All the doubters that said Titanfall will never become a big thing are probably reconsidering their words.
The other titans have fallen, crushed by their own weight and as evidenced in this thread, by their own arrogance.
Respawn could not be in a better position to take the crown.
I kind of suspect something completely out of the blue though, or at least something that's relevant but not mega big. CoD was reasonably prevalent and popular before Modern Warfare hit it big afterall, yet it wasn't exactly a titan itself.
Conspiracy theories, woooo!
I think Destiny appeals more to Halo/Borderlands fans, CoD fans looking for the next thing will go to Battlefield 4 (when it works) and obviously Titanfall.Originally Posted by SnakeEyes

I think it's more that they don't give a shit about COD anymore. They don't give a shit, yet it's basically free money (considering they aren't doing that much).Originally Posted by SnakeEyes

that would be dumb since titanfall is in march and their audience would flock to that instead of a borderlands cloneOriginally Posted by SnakeEyes

MW3 was 1 month.
Ghosts was 1 week.
I loved Black Ops 2 multiplayer. So annoyed at how phoned in Ghosts was despite people who don't play CoD claiming that for years
So I'm, looking forward to what Treyarch does next year.
Yeah, it's really at odds with all the negativity surrounding both Call of Duty and Battlefield on forums like this. Same when looking at Amazon and Metacritic user ratings.Originally Posted by SolidSnakeUS

Metacritic Reviews: Battlefield > Call of Duty > Killzone

I think SCEA missed a prime opportunity to build the Killzone brand in the US. A NA bundle similar to the EU bundle would've gotten the game in a lot more players' hands, which could've made some new fans in light of EA's and Activision's missteps.
Though TitanFall and especially Destiny are looking like they could be the next big things. It's nice to see the FPS world getting shaken up a bit (though I don't even play FPS very often).
Honestly I really hate how BF4 and CoD are compared... People can like one over the other but... They're just far too different. One is smaller maps with less players while the other is larger with larger maps. These sound simple but they make the games play a lot more different. Not to mention just the feel of them is very different.I think Destiny appeals more to Halo/Borderlands fans, CoD fans looking for the next thing will go to Battlefield 4 (when it works) and obviously Titanfall.
Sadly I don't think people seem to realize this and assume if one person likes one will like the other. I personally don't get the hype about Titanfall, I think it looks pretty damn generic. Doesn't help that it's still more brown and grey which hasn't bothered me much but is now starting to get annoying.
"Oh but it has mechs!"
Um... Killzone 3... Blacklight Retribution? Sure there isn't a shit ton of shooters with them but I don't think it's the revelation people are making it out to be. I love shooters, but I see Titanfall and I just can't get excited for it. That and maybe the circle jerk has made me bitter. :/
Titanfall, Call of Duty, Battlefield... Why does one type of shooter have to "save" us. Why does one need to be better than the other? Can't they all just be good at one? Why does Call of Duty have to die and Titanfall succeed? Is it bad that both should? Or do people just wan't CoD to die that they have given up any sensible reasoning?
TL;DR: Getting kind of sick of these "hate" circle-jerks.
The Infinity Ward that made Call of Duty good is no longer the Infinity Ward that is making the awful Call of Duty games now, like Ghosts. Respawn is making Titanfall. Logical progression.
Battlefield 4 is also a better straight up Team Deathmatch game than Ghosts is, if you want to directly compare two basic modes, ignoring everything else that Battlefield 4 does better (vehicles, objective-based gameplay, larger, more balanced maps, etc).
Although it seems opinion is out. Am I bad for liking Ghosts and "gasp" liking Battlefield as well? Seems it's impossible for here for people to like both (not that you have to, mind you.)The Infinity Ward that made Call of Duty good is no longer the Infinity Ward that is making the awful Call of Duty games now, like Ghosts. Titanfall is not Call of Duty. It's not trying to be Call of Duty. So why does Titanfall need to "kill" Call of Duty?
I think we have the whole WoW killer situation on our hands.
I sure as hell wanted to like both, as I did pre-order both of them (BF4 and Ghosts). Not my fault that I strongly, strongly prefer one over the other.Although it seems opinion is out. I am not saying it's your fault. Just seems like your hate has turned into a mini crusade. I would argue at least in your favor that your hate in this thread is justified, more so considering the topic on hand. I know my friend doesn't like Uncharted, like REALLY doesn't like it, but he doesn't go into threads for the sole purpose of trying to convince others to not like it.
They need to see millions less sold year over year before they make changes.
.
But it really does feel old compared to newer games like Battlefield 4. I'm not talking about styles of gameplay as they do different things - the graphics aren't great and the sound I found to be at least a couple of years outdated at the least. Weapons just don't sound too good.
I really really wish Activision would let them create a new engine from scratch, take the time needed and give them 3 - 4 years to come up with a killer COD with high end graphics and sound. I know it'll never happen, it's just another franchise for Activision to not give a shit about and churn out until it's spent out. Makes me sad in a way, it's a series I've followed since the beginning and which has gotten me through some tough times in my life. I just wish Actvision cared about it more (I'm not talking about the dev teams, they probably do care, more management)
But I like Treyarch's CoDs.Originally Posted by purnoman3000

COD is such a huge brand that sells to so many non-enthusiasts and what people here consider casual gamers, that's its become damaging to the industry as a whole. So much time, energy, and resources are put into replicating CODs success, that it feels like we're stuck in this rut of cookie cutter military shooters as the premier marquis titles across all of our platforms. We need something to come around, in the same way COD4 did 6 years ago, and change the way we think about and play AAA games.Titanfall, Call of Duty, Battlefield... COD4 changed the direction of multiplayer shooters, but its gotten so stale and we've been fooled too many times into buying the same game, that we need COD to die and for something else to take over. We need that injection of innovation to reinvigorate us.
I'm hopeful that its Titanfall, i think the game looks incredible, but im not convinced it can turn the ship around.
When it works, Bf4 is so much better, it's not even funny.
Call of Duty used to be my favorite franchise in gaming, I take its downfall pretty personally. I do definitely go a bit too far ranting about things I don't like, though, that's for sure. I am aware of that. :PI am not saying it's your fault. Just seems like your hate has turned into a mini crusade. I hate because I love.
Same deal with Final Fantasy, I just can't let it go. It was my favorite series growing up, so when FFXIII gets brought up I go into full-on "hate mode".
Is he really wrong, GAF? I know high-standards GAF can be a bit anal retentive about such things...but it was the best selling next-gen game, right? And probably has the highest active player base to go with it. Players may not be happy, but they for damn sure aren't passing on the game or ceasing to play it.
(I don't have CoD, don't burn me)
My first CoD since CoD4: MW, and got me addicted once again!
I was plesently surprised by ghosts. clan wars is fun. It punishes run and gun shit though. I suspect this is where a lot of crying about the game is coming from.

I completely understand where you're coming from as I love COD too. But for me that already happened with MW2 which I really hated and didn't like much at all. After that sure their have been disappointments but that's when I felt the franchise completely changed for the worst and was the first big dip in quality, from the franchise creators no less. All the others like MW3 and Ghosts etc are just iterations of that.
It's more the problem when you run into games that have nothing else like it. Like NHL 14, what other NHL games are out there other than EA's one? With COD, you can replace it easily, however.People need to put put their money where their mouth is and actually stop buying yearly crap.
-same boring ass walking turret gameplay
-shitty performance on more than capable computer (i7, 8GB RAM, GTX 760) at 720p none the less
-awkward keyboard and mouse implementation
-laggy as hell MP
Really wish there was a way to return or sell my steam version of this game.
Need data on how Ghosts performs on a PC that is 10 years old.Originally Posted by legacyzero
I don't mind the multiplayer. Loved it WAY more than BLOPS2's crap. That said, I will never buy another COD day 1 again. EVER. Ghosts has WAY too many fucking issues with it on a technical level, especially on PC.
Probably on par or better than something a person put together within the past year.
