Probably on par or better than something a person put together within the past year.

Ghosts looks like a game from 2008 that runs like a game from 2014.

PC version is absolute, unoptimized horseshit. Game has problems on a Titan.

I haven't played a FPS since Black Ops 1/some of MW2 but I got BF4 due to the hype and wanting a game for launch. I'm not seeing what's so amazing about this game after hours of playing it.

The massive maps and amazing graphics were cool at first, but then I started noticing the problems with the game.

1. Hit detection- Sometimes it seems like I'm clearly aiming at someone and not getting hit markets? I'm getting hit markers but not doing damage?
2. Hard to see people at times- The maps is just filled with things that makes it hard to see anything (teammates that don't spot makes this even worse) and I just see a bunch of people setting up a house and waiting while not playing the objective.
3. I know conquest is the big mode for the game, but I just want to play a TDM every now and then. The maps just don't work well with the mode.

Maybe the smaller scale FPS is just the game for me. I enjoy Halo, Blacklight Retribution on PS4 is pretty decent for a F2P game, and the older CODs when I used to play them.

Anyways, is COD Ghost REALLY that bad if you just want a decent online FPS?

Battlefield 4's Team Deathmatch mode is better than Call of Duty: Ghosts'.

Take that as you will.

And I enjoy Domination on BF4 for a nice change of pace every once in a while. It's great for gun progression and the maps are the perfect size for infantry gameplay.

BF4 is definitely far from perfect, its gameplay is still great and the guns surprisingly still have recoil considering how hesitant I was before launch that they'd go more towards COD with no recoil at all.

I kept hesitating on picking up Ghosts but after having my question answered in the impressions thread, I'm just going to wait until Treyarch releases their game. A break might be healthy too since the gameplay was getting stale. I just don't like how complacent the devs have gotten and how COD is stagnant. If less people bought this one, we had a good chance at some changes for once.

Yes, and you don't get spawn killed from behind, nor do you have to run around an empty space for 2 minutes only to get killed from behind.

I think Battlefields smaller modes are genuinely great now. I love Domination especially and it's a nice change of pace from Conquest/Rush/Obliteration. I just find the combat much more satisfying in comparison to BF3.

I have been enjoying Ghosts on PS4 just fine. I think a lot of the critics low-balled reviews based on the game being an evolution of the series. I don't think that is really fair, Call of Duty is much like a sports game, it changes year over year, but the premise and rules remain the same. If reviewer's are going to take that road, they should be consistent and trash every new iteration of FIFA, Madden, NBA 2kXX, etc.

There is some franchise fatigue, but I guess that doesn't apply to me since I only actually buy the game every other year (skipping Treyarch's garbage).

Except for people experiencing actual technical difficulties, most of the people complaining don't really know what they are talking about either. If reviewer's had marked Call of Duty down for it being an unoptimized game at launch, I would understand, but most of them just cite ridiculous nonsense for their reviews.

Ghosts is a good game, it also takes some getting used to if all you know are the shoe-box maps and 2 minute time to kill from Blops2.

Yes, the feel of the weapons, the recoil, the sound effects, hit feedback, all that feels much better than than in Ghosts.

I also think that Spotting enemies is a superior mechanic than dropping ComSats, but that's personal preference.

I actually enjoy Ghosts, and it took me a little while to get use to the game. It plays different from the others in that maps feel more open with all the entry points. It feels leaps better than MW3, a little better than BLOPS but not as good as MW2 and BLOPS2. The guns feel similar, but not unsatisfying. BLOPS had an issue where all the weapons just sounded awful to me. The biggest compliant, as with all CODs, is the spawning system. People feel like they get killed from behind so often, because the game literally spawns people 10 feet behind you.

My biggest complaint is that I can't get into the single player. I liked the MW campaigns for some reason, maybe it was Cpt. Price. This seems like it ramps up way too fast early on. They don't give that much backstory into the conflict and the writing is really corny in a bad way. I have not completed the story, as I just cant seem to get into it.

It's a perfectly fine FPS. People complain because it's not the same bullshit that mw2 and blops2 allowed with run and gunning and too small maps.

No it isn't. BF4 is garbage. DICE completely butchered this game. I loved BF2, BC2 and to a lesser extent, BF3. BF4 is horrible. Ghosts is leagues more enjoyable.

It's the worst campaign since COD4, but the online is fun and active....plus you know, it works.

I really hate the kill streaks through, very boring. Quite a few matches I've gotten a good streak going and just never bothered with using the KS. I miss UAV's too ;_;

Yeah... its strange.
I've played quite a few shooter this year and I have to say that had the most fun with Killzone Mercenary.
Battlefield4 would also be great if it wasn't broken.

I don't remember what scores Mercenary got exactly, but it was something around 70.

In my opinion Mercenary is just pure, gritty, well designed shooter. Much like Killzone2.
Its not as meaty as many console shooters, but I don't need tons of game modes if the ones that are there are perfect and much fun.

Although, feeling the same way with BF4 pc :\ rushed product is rushed. The problem is the media, they sugar coat all the previews/reviews FIRST LOOK bullshit, then go silent as a peep when it ships. Its not like the good ole days when you could see direct feed footage and assume thats how the game will perform.. you almost have to wait for all the day 1 suckers to buy, then check the forums, then gauge your purchase on that.

Terrible state gaming is in.

I doubt Activision care either way, as long as people keep buying it year on year. It's been pretty obvious for years that they were just going to run this into the ground until it's no longer profitable, and that's a long way off yet.

Only care about MP, but my feeling is that infinity ward's iterations are getting shittier and shittier (MW3 felt terrible to me, ghost is still largely worse), while treyarch has been doing better (liked blops1, really enjoyed blops2). Looking forward to next November.

Spot on. Nothing I had read in any reviews informed me of how pathetic (and technically inept) ghost MP is. would also have been nice to know BF4 PC was broken out of the gate...

It's funny how Treyarch basically owns the franchise now.
Use to be the reverse where people saw that logo and expected a "lesser version".
Now everyone want's treyarch on the box since they at least are competent to what the fans want mostly.

So far my next gen games list is as follows

BF4 (PS4 & XBone)
KZ
NBA 2K14 (PS4)
Ghosts (PS4)
Forza
FIFA14 (XBone)

Ghosts as been the biggest next gen let down for me (traded it in yesterday) the MP doesn't seem in any way shape or form advanced from 2009's MW2, the graphics are shit, the maps are bland & dull & the gameplay quite honestly boring.

I did enjoy the SP for once so there's that at least but even with its game crashing bugs BF4 rips this game a new arsehole IMO.

The franchise has rested on its laurels for far to long & especially IW versions there are little upgrades/reasons from past iterations to warrant new purchases, Ghosts will be my last CoD as I refuse to pay for near enough re skins of the same game over & over.

Fan feedback online is overly negative (metacritic, most forums being majority negative), but I guess it's the silent majority of buyers who don't delve any deeper than the well know when they make their purchases.

Perhaps all these people are truly happy with the game, or perhaps they're just casual or commercial only gamers who just stick to the same franchises year after year, blissful in their ignorance.

I can't imagine the online fan backlash is unwarranted, so the latter is probably more accurate.

As long as these people keep buying, these devs can use "fans are happy" as an excuse not to deviate.

BF4 with all it's bugs is way better than COD Ghosts. BF3 Close Quarters Battle does COD style FPS better than COD for fucks sake. But it doesn't matter as long as people keep buying COD why should Activision improve it? They have a money making machine in that franchise. When major sites like IGN give it 8.8 (from their resident fanboy tech guy scott lowe) of course people are gonna continue to buy it over BF4's inferior 8.5. It sucks, because EA is starting to go that route with Battlefield I fear. BF4 feels very "consolefied" and arcadey compared to BF3 (same can be said with BF3 compared to BF2), and no doubt the lure of COD money will soon have EA dropping annual BF's despite their denials.
