I wouldn't mind that since I hopped in at BC2. Because of that, I prefer BC2 over BF4 by far since my favorite mode is Rush and the game was designed around that. Older BF was designed for conquests I think.Originally Posted by drexplora

Sad what's going on, and it all seems to be EA's doing...
Soooo stupid to even support current gen consoles if your gonna give away the next gen version to early adopters for an extra $10...
Ill never understand why they still think a campaign is a good idea...
Probably also EA's idea..
They should have just kept Bad Company a console exclusive as much as it would suck for some PC players, and maintain the mainline Battlefield series a PC exclusive WITHOUT a single player campaign..(Though the test range is the coolest thing they've done in a while!)
It would create a nice balanced ecosystem, and they would still be able to expand their user base while keeping the integrity of their games intact, catering to both groups.
It would also be easier to manage development.
A solid complete Battlefield title (with video/mod tools) will keep the PC community happy for years, while console players who don't have as many pre set expectations can still get their Battlefield fix, though less constrained by a pre existing communities expectations of what "Battlefield" should be means to me. (Though it seems that people have a hard time translating what they want into clear words)
That would give DICE the chance to experiment and attempt to innovate and then transferring what will work to the mainline series.
EDIT: Lets hope we hear no mention of a sequel anytime soon, kinda hurt last time..
Aside from all the issues in Battlefield 4, playing on PC with friends has been a blast!! for the most part..
Even dealing with crashing a good 4-5 times in the same round on a more than capable system.
There is a great game waiting to be polished here.
It sucks that they deliver how they do but there lies great potential!!
We have had our challenges with stability issues on Battlefield 4, and the DICE team is 100 percent focused on understanding and resolving the problems that some players have been having. We won't rest until we get things fixed, so here are two things we're committed to doing while we work to get it right: 1) all players will get a Double XP bonus and a cool new piece of game content as a way of saying thanks for your patience, and 2) you'll get open and transparent communication with updates from us around the clock via the Battlefield 4 Control Room.
- Chief Executive Officer, EA Andrew Wilson
I am less proud to see that the game has experienced some turbulence during the launch period. While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues. Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets – and exceeds – your expectations. It is the right thing to do.

Remember yesterday when some gaffers were trying to convince people that there are no problems with this game (Whompa in particular). Yeah, they look pretty stupid now. Some more statements:

Just seems like they're trying to shoehorn everything in and make a super Battlefield title.
Maybe in the future EA will re-think it's launch schedules and focus more on polishing the product than trying to beat a competitor to market. Just because you're first, doesn't always mean you're going to be perceived as the best. A great, working product will influence sales more than an extra week or two on the market before CoD.
true, but those are not the major issues they are discussing here. And it would only take a couple to maybe a handful of artists/designers to fix these geometry issues. Not full teams that would be on a big project. The level designers and artists do have stuff to fix. There are invisible walls and geometry in BF4 maps that cause awesome WTF moments where you unload an entire magazine into a dude, only to realize that it's all been block by an invisible barrier as you see a bunch of sparks or puffs of smoke where you should be getting hit markers.
On the newest China Rising, the one map I think it's called Dragon's Teeth has a large mountain in the middle that people can get on top of, only, when you get up there, everyone is floating 10 feet above the actual geometry and there are random spots where you fall down under the geometry and the invisible wall issues crops up here as well on other mountains. It's super painfully obvious and rears it's ugly head easily on Obliteration where everyone just parachutes onto it.
They have stuff they can fix too, it's not just the programmers.
Seems so. I say give us console players our Bad Company and PC players their main Battlefield. Personally I hate prone on consoles and the maps weren't designed for my favorite mode. Obliteration is a cool alternative though that works pretty well I admit.Originally Posted by drexplora

Talking about shoehorning, it seems like there is a lot of shoehorned map modes in this game. A lot of maps have modes that it has no business having because it wasn't balance for it at all. Seems like an afterthought.
First you heard a few things about what went wrong all of a sudden they come out of hiding and say we are going to fix it! But we forgot to mention the game at launch and now is still broken..sorry!Some more statements:

Here's some double xp, fuckers!
That's honestly terrible. I just purchased it for $20 when it was on sale not too long ago and haven't had any problems yet.Originally Posted by jakonovski

Hopefully these issues will be fixed before I start putting a lot more time into the game :\
These crashes don't fit the profile of what happened pre-patch, so I'm pretty sure that they were introduced with the patch.Originally Posted by Piercedveil

Im all for anti-cheat measure but Punkbuster kicks legit players because it doesn't update correctly and worst of all it doesn't even work! When you have no cheat protection stuff like this happens:

I just hope DICE realized their game was broken and this is on EA for still pushing for release because I love DICE's games and was a modder from 1942 through BF2 back when they still allowed modding and it's a series I basically grew up on as a PC gamer to speak since 1942 was my first big PC game.
All I know is that EA sure is delusional if they keep making comments about NOT being ranked the worst company for the third time in a row while still doing stupid shit like this. It's like they were talking loudly to ignore all the complaints from the community not realizing exactly why people feel that way. Are they the worst? No, but it should be a pretty clear message that they still can't seem to grasp.
Pretty much. Hey the game is still broken, but suck it up and get some extra XP. Fucking shameful.Originally Posted by belvedere

Plus I still can't play the campaign since there's no guarantee it won't kill my save again.
It works pretty well from what I've seen. In my 1000+ hours of playing BF3, I saw a total of 3 hackers who were actually able to stay in a server and not be autobanned.Originally Posted by Doc Holliday

Is it already released for XBone, and on pause for everyone else?!
Before this latest update that they are going 100% on fixing the game and freezing any new development, I was under the assumption that the XBone got Second Assault on the 3rd with premium getting it 2 weeks later and everyone else 2 weeks after that.
Has anything official been stated on second assaults release?

I would photoshop in a face but I suck :(
Pretty sure MS locked down Second Assault for at least a month.Originally Posted by drexplora

Jesus, I can only imagine what I'd unlock then. In one single match using the current double XP promotion plus a double XP booster from a battlepack, I got pretty much every single APC unlock except for the last few. It was insane because I had so many new things unlocked that I didn't know what to try first.Time for a Triple XP week, right?
And if you want quick weapons, do the same thing as above except on a hardcore domination server. I had guns falling from the sky basically.
While the game is still buggy, I'm at least not crashing as much and the servers are more stable although extremely laggy at times (like last night with China Rising just coming out).
I just want to know how EA honestly expected to dethrone COD when they show they're not ready for it to happen? How could you possibly have that many server problems if you had predicted the sales to be around a trillion copies? How come it's not fixed yet when any normal game would at least have the servers stable since they had plenty of time to fix them after launch?

Yup. And now Battlefront and Mirror's Edge are going to be longer coming as well. Fucking EA.DICE wanted to delay the game, EA refused so they could beat CoD: Ghosts. I'd say DICE is as pissed off their most popular series got fucked over with just as much as the fans.
That's it, soothe us with sweet liesSome more statements:
