Wii U's Gamepad ergonomics is without question, much better than Vita's. It's not even a contest.Except you read this line
And go "the fuck?"
Yea, Wii U is really hitting that sweet spot on value.Originally Posted by mentalfloss

You won't see the same quality on PS4/Xbone for at least another 6 months.
As long as you're still wearing JNCOs, anything's possible!
The PS3.
It's a game from Monolith Soft (Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenosaga Episodes I-III, and Baiten Kaitos). Some developers transferred over from the Chrono Cross and Xenogears team. And yes, they're part of NCL now.Originally Posted by funkystudent

Also dont Nintendo own that team now? Doesnt help I worries of 3rd parties just leaving the platform entirely by next holiday.
The only 3rd party exclusive I can think of for Wii U in 2014 is Bayonetta 2 from Platinum Games.
As for the ten reasons...
Ten reasons:
1. Because it has the games you want to play now. Oh. Thanks for letting me know
2. And it’ll have the games you want to play next year. Ditto
3. The Wii U GamePad is a portable console. Yeah with a 10m range or something. And a rather limited library
4. It’s just $300 — $100 less than the PS4 and $200 less than the Xbox One. Fair point. Irrelevant if the system is unattractive with other parameters though.
5. There’s no annual subscription fee. Fair point. Online services and MP is far from competitive though.
6. Its High Def enough. lolz
7. Wii U games are cheaper on balance. Fair point
8. Nintendo has the eShop. Sony and Microsoft have nada. The fuck?
9. It has a decent indie lineup, too. Yeah well, doesn't seem it'll compete with the PS4's
10. It’s more than just a game system. (TV, remote integration) Other systems are way ahead in this respect.
I'm not sure about Mario Kart, but I hiiiiighly doubt Bayo 2 will be, given PG's penchant for throwing crazy shit around on screen. W101 battled bravely, but stuttered often, for 60fps at 720p.Bayo 2 and Mario Kart 8 are supposed to be 1080p as well, right?
Nonetheless, that wasn't the main intention of the post - people seem to misunderstand the "high def enough" wording
If you stopped gaming in 2005 and bought nothing since, yes.You know what's 100x better buy than the Wii U right now?
The PS3.
Ten reasons:
1. Because it has the games you want to play now s/b
Because it has great exclusives, not just promises.
2. And it’ll have the games you want to play next year s/b
The great exclusives will keep coming in the future.
3. The Wii U GamePad is a portable console s/b
Off-TV play is a system-selling feature to families.
4. It’s just $300 — $100 less than the PS4 and $200 less than the Xbox One s/b
Lower price point and no hidden fees/costs.
5. There’s no annual subscription fee;
Combine with 4 above
6. Its High Def enough. s/b
Technical limitations don't matter on most TVs
7. Wii U games are cheaper on balance.; fine as is
8. Nintendo has the eShop. Sony and Microsoft have nada.
This reason is really a part of reason 1
9. It has a decent indie lineup, too.
Also should be combined with reason 1
10. It’s more than just a game system. (TV, remote integration) s/b
Enough media functionality to get the job done.
The fact you have to bring the actual WiiU unit makes me think the word portable is misused here.
Read the text he has written under the "portable" headlineOriginally Posted by Chinpoko_Master

The article is written in a certain way, yes, but I think reading the headlines of the sections only doesn't lead to anything
Now if that list said...
1. New 3D Zelda is coming this Holiday
2. New Mario 64 style Mario is coming early next year
I would be scrambling out of my chair to buy one.
Edit** Went and read it, guess he's not joking. While there are some positives there...the guy seems out of touch.
That's just blatant misinformation.3. The Wii U GamePad is a portable console.
The public at large have made their decision on WiiU and it just isn't worth their investment versus the PS4 and XB1.
The console needs as much help as it can get.
It's talking about BC with the wii, and the virtual console. I have no idea why they put eshop in the title for that one.Originally Posted by CrackPebbles
What the fuck does 8 even mean? Wii u is pretty rad btw, rather play w101 and soon enough bayo 2 than anything announced on other consoles (other than mgs5 and ffxv, which im really looking forward to)
I can't even buy any game from the eshop because my visa electron does not work there. I much prefer to buy all my wiiu games retail anyway.Except for activision's games, every retail WiiU game has an eShop version. Unless you haven't bought a single WiiU game since you got yours, you're just beeing desinginous
Remember, we're talking about content and the eShop has hundreds of games between indies, digital release, retail games and VC
Most of the content on there is available on other platforms better suited to my taste.
Yeah I read that part, but the best game on ps4 just so happens to be a download only exclusive, I would not go as far as saying "NOTHING", but yeah he could have just said bc with virtual console instead of writing some sensationalized headline.Originally Posted by Papercuts

Don't you have to be within eyeshot of the Wii U console itself for the gamepad to actually work as a "portable" console? My definition of a Portable console would be something like the PSVita.
What exactly is the eShop? Is it anything like... I don't know, the XboxLiveMarketplace?
Are there any games on the Wii U that have realistic graphics? Crazy amounts of Particles? 64 players? MMO style gameplay?
How does the Wii U compare to the Xbox 1 in terms of "More than a console"?
Does the Wii U have gameplay recording programs built in? How about Social Media sharing?
It's somewhat obvious; I'm an Xbox fanboy. I've also been playing my friends PS4 since launch. He also owns a Wii U, and we haven't played more than the first SuperMario game that was bundled with the console. While I can agree that the price point is awesome with the Wii U, it just doesn't offer what I'm looking for.
[Edit] Actually READING the article, the eshop bullet is about backwards compatibility. Wii games (not shop-related) and VC games are cited. List in OP is pretty disingenuous, despite using the headers from the article.
Which pretty much proves the point that the hardware is overpriced.Originally Posted by dragonfart28
PS4 and Xbone are just COD boxes at this point.
But then again, I think the article is more about quality than sales, and it's clearly obvious that the Wii U has a more diverse line up of games to play with. And Sony has already admitted they need Nintendo's ability to reach out to new audiences to succeed themselves.
Well COD is a game you can get on them, sure, but I don't see that as a problem when that's what the market wants. Much in the same way the market wants Assassin's Creed and will likely want other big 3rd party titles like Titanfall and Destiny and Watch Dogs in the first half of next year.Originally Posted by dragonfart28

And Sony and Microsoft won't complain that consumers are buying their machines to get those games.
Maybe the WiiU can find its way into my home when I've run my PS3 well dry...
2. Possibly
3. Who cares
4. Price point is fair only because of the pad
5. In a way I agree
6. For last gen, sure.
7. Nintendo seems to believe their games are worth $40 6 years later, and they're not.
8. I have old consoles
9. I have consoles that have indies too
10. I have a TV for that
So why should I buy a Wii U now then? Eventually yes, but those reasons are terrible.
All that recent media attention is suspect
1&4 have promising-looking futures, but not a lot of interesting stuff in the present.
2014 looks like a banner year for pc.
wait till next christmas to choose:)
Well there is W101 and Lost World...so yea, that's pretty much it for me right now.1. Because it has the games you want to play now.
Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros. 4...fair point2. And it’ll have the games you want to play next year.
...LOL.3. The Wii U GamePad is a portable console.
I bought mine for $250 on Monday, waiting for that to arrive.4. It’s just $300 — $100 less than the PS4 and $200 less than the Xbox One.
True, though Plus is pretty good, even if it's required for Online play this time5. There’s no annual subscription fee.
What kind of reason is this? I just...that just sounds on settling.6. Its High Def enough.
Some are, some aren't.7. Wii U games are cheaper on balance.
PSN? Marketplace? Let's not also get started on my disapproval of the lack of a unified account system.8. Nintendo has the eShop. Sony and Microsoft have nada.
Haven't played that many indie games, but I've heard some good things on the Nintendo and Sony side, so I might agree.9. It has a decent indie lineup, too.
Except (like the Wii) it doesn't play DVDs or CDs...which the others offer to do (well the former at least, PS4 no likey the CDs) and more!10. It’s more than just a game system. (TV, remote integration)
as for the other part:
1. Certainly worked for meNintendo needs to work on:
1. Like dropping the system price again.
2. And it needs a killer Zelda or Metroid or new Nintendo IP we haven’t seen before, ASAP.
3. And it needs more third-party games.
2 and 3. NO SHIT SHERLOCK!
Yea, each systems has it's Pros and Cons, but to each their own and what ever suits your (upcoming) interests this holiday system.
...I'd also like to add that the Gamepad High Capacity Battery should also be available in the US. I'm not liking what I'm hearing about the gamepad's default charge time.
