it's actually a pretty great game. Visually stunning (videos really do not do it justice, it looks incredible in person), the combat, while pretty simplistic and lacking in variety, is actually very satisfying once you've mastered the mechanics and the enemy encounters are great..you feel like a complete badass when you face off against 5 barbarians and take them all down flawlessly...
The locations are all wonderfully realised and the lighting throughout is just eye meltingly orgasmic.
That's not to say it doesn't have issues. Lack of weapon and combat variety does hurt the game and make it feel pretty repetitive and the lack of enemy variety also means you start to feel a little bored towards the end, but these are things that can easily be fixed in any sequel .
In short, reviews, for me at least, were utterly wrong. it's short, it lacks variety, but it's a still a great game and one I'm glad I gave a chance...
I played the game for almost an hour and got all I wanted from it.
But most peeps will continue to look at youtube vids and judge it badly lol.
Exactly how I and many feel about Knack.Originally Posted by Miles Quaritch

Hope there's quality sequels to both that deal with these issues.
EDIT: Also reminds me of The Bouncer.
The glitches were embarassing, on top of the pedestrian and repetitive gameplay. All of the characters and animations appear to exist in a vacuum to the environments, with the exception of some awkward transitions to environmental kills.
I put this together just with my videos on my console (I beat it on Hard):

It's a sophomoric, weak, undercooked, repetitive, easy game IMO.
There's some good stuff there, but also quite a few significantly bad design choices.
Now play some MP in the arena and work on those 100+ combos. Very addictive.Originally Posted by Miles Quaritch

EDIT: Ryse threads are really good for adding people to the ignore list.
I played a section of the midgame, so no dumb tutorial setpieces for me. The game's systems just aren't that interesting to fans of action games like myself.Originally Posted by Starbuck2907
After one hour...you have seen anything cool. It gets much more fun as it goes.
Also, play on the hardest difficulty.
It's that I just can't.
;) enjoy the game.

Does it have anything in common w/ Spartan : Total Warrior?
However, I went on to start over a couple of days later, and absolutely loved it. I'm having a blast going through the story, trying different executions out. Unfortunately, DR3 has taken up most of my time lately.
Not really a ringing endorsement you're giving Crytek's latest work here.
All in all it was a really enjoyable experience, more so than I thought it would be. But now I don't have much desire to replay it other than to see the visuals again and perhaps the occasional co-op round with a bud, so I think it's going back for Dead Rising 3 or some other game.
Some sublime reading comprehension right here. Glad you're back! You're op pretty much reads "this game sucks, but the graphics are nice".

Pretty much exactly what I gathered from the OP. There's probably lots of people who enjoyed it due to the beautiful visuals alone and let everything else slide. No harm in liking something others don't like.Originally Posted by The Interrobanger

I'm having a blast so far, gorgeous game
Thinking that i didn't want to pick this up for the reviews lol
