Your post has a molar mass of 58.5 g/mol , and leads me to believe you're posting sans actual experience with the game...$2 is a bit steep, I'm thinking free Gamefly trial.
No DR3 love? Play it co-op!Yeah, it's quite odd because I went out and bought 5 retail PS4 games and a couple DL games then I went out and bought 6 retail XB1 games and some DL games but my fav games for both platforms are Knack and Ryse which scored the lowest lmao...Needless to say I had to rethink a lot of things.

Your gafs wildcard.
Seriously?

Such a stupid post.
And that matters, why? Because he actually liked the game, makes him a fanboi? This shit needs to stop. Who gives a fuck, seriously?

I'm not going to...
I hope Ryse gets a sequel and Crytek gets a chance to improve on the game. Adding more weapon and enemy variety would make a good game even better.
But yeah, Ryse is nowhere near as bad as it was made out to be. It became the game for everyone to shit on which is unfortunate because it's really a solid action game. It's not game of the year material by any means but it's a damn fine launch title.
GTFO, you obviously haven't played it. The framerate is decent unlike heavenly sword and the graphics are insane. I actually enjoyed both games but prefer Ryse.I thought nothing could top Heavenly Sword. I was wrong, and the game runs like dog shit to boot! I feel sorry for people that have to lie to themselves to make a terrible game good. Start of console generations are a time of ignorance. Ahhh.
7 if you include the shield block, roll, and focus ability, and way more if you include perfect blocks, changing focus types (sp), using items (mp), spears and executions... but I guess yeah. 4 moves. The combat consists of like 4 moves. Entirely. For a game that is 100% combat, this is laughable. The game is bad.
I've become so jaded by reviewers that I usually don't care what they have to say anymore unless they highlight a major flaw. Most of them just want to rush through a game and move on the next one and some of them have proven to be quite horrible at actually playing games so it's hard to say that's how an actual average gamer would feel.Originally Posted by Seanspeed
Either way, good to know that people are enjoying their launch games more than the reviews might suggest people are.
Impressions from other like-minded gamers have always meant more to me but maybe that's because I liked a lot of SOCOM games and MAG which some reviewers hated. Any game that promotes actual teamwork, a level of hardcore gameplay, etc. aren't games I would trust reviewers on.
With Ryse though, I think they're right on the money from what I played. Is it a game I would NEVER pick up? No, because I love anything based on Rome so I'm a sucker anyway. Is it something I would feel good about paying $60 for? No, but YMMV.
I mean maybe God of War has more vertically to its level design and maybe a slightly better story and protagonist, but there's probably not really a lot differentiating them outside of that
Thank you.Originally Posted by BruceLeeRoy

Seriously, it's a lot of fun. The combat is pretty deep and more fun when you set yourself up against more enemies. And it looks amazing too. Still, Killzone has the graphical edge mainly because if scale and scope of the levels.
I was intentionally missing executions because they got old quick and in the long run didn't matter. I just don't understand how that is good game design.
Just go for it. Get a badass weapon and go for it. The kill combos make it really fun to grind zombie kills actually.I actually just started it ~4 days ago and it's pretty good so far but there are too much zombies lol! I sat on the top of a truck, looked around and said how am I going to get through all of these guys.
Yeah KZ barely edges it out for me as well but thats just because the PQ is truly bonkers. Its funny though I would rate them largely the same.Thank you.

I also never used Focus outside of the tutorial, so that may have helped my enjoyment
I never had this problem... what difficulty did you play on? Because they absolutely matter on Legendary. And MP where you get shit for XP if you don't rack up your combo meterI was intentionally missing executions because they got old quick and in the long run didn't matter. I just don't understand how that is good game design.
I enjoyed the game. I'd give it a 7ish.
I feel this says a lot about the game, when it is discussed in past tense after only being available for about 10 days. A full retail game played out, rated, and put into the past after a week. Is this the next generation? Are we going to see used copies at GameStop already?I really enjoyed it. Certainly not the best game in the world, but far from the worst. I'd probably give it a 7.5.
We had a lot more fun with Dead Rising 3.
what about using the scorpio? that thing is great against the leader type enemies in multi. go down in one hit.Originally Posted by Team Vernia

It certainly seems that way, especially after reading Brad Shoemaker's review. Critics like to be harsh on launch games because they hold them to such lofty expectations, which is unfair. This is a game that started as a 360 game, then a Kinect game, then changed dev teams.Originally Posted by BananasWithGuns

They do matter in that they allow you build up your XP faster, boost damage or help with health and focus regen.Originally Posted by GoofsterStud

They also give a hot second to scan the battlefield and set up your next kill/victim.
I like how the barbarians just stare at him as he stabs their friend in the chest. It's really, really not.
The glitches were embarassing, on top of the pedestrian and repetitive gameplay. All of the characters and animations appear to exist in a vacuum to the environments, with the exception of some awkward transitions to environmental kills.
I put this together just with my videos on my console (I beat it on Hard):

It's a sophomoric, weak, undercooked, repetitive, easy game IMO.
Reviews are right, it's far from any kind of GOTY and can be repetitive. But it's fun.
While the fighting mechanics are similar to the Arkham series, not as good. It is more challenging in that you do not have a visual indicator that an enemy is about to attack you, you actually need to watch the enemies. Whereas in Arkham, you just wait for the "counter" icon.
What I'd love to see, is when in execution mode, if you press the wrong button, the enemy performs a counter and strikes you to almost death. It would make it more challenging.
I'm about 70% the way through, and enjoying it. And will play again on Legendary.
I was blown away by the level from E3. Had the home theatre up loud, the battle on the beach with catapults hammering down was breathtaking and felt very next-gen. I guess that's what you want from a launch title on a new platform.
I think the only reason some people think the game is "great" is because the launch lineups are otherwise quite soft and in addition to the low reviews, expectations are really tempered.
While I admit its a gorgeous game but it's way too repetitive.
waaaayyy to repetitive. After 4 hours I didn't feel like i really progressed even though it's telling me that I am.
Killing the same 4 characters over and over and over with the same executions that i had at the beginning of the game.
And the story was mediocre at best.
It is a good hack and slash game but in the end it's a glorified demo to show off graphics. I never look to closely into the first round of games that come out for consoles.
Miles is one of the truly good ones. While we all have inherent bias's he's is certainly not as you describe.Originally Posted by Conor 419

I am of a similar opinion to both games at present but must admit I have only played knackRyse is like Knack. Repetitive, shallow and forgettable. There's almost zero sense of progression. But there is fun to be had and they do lay nice groundwork for sequels that would fix the problems.

I will give Ryse its fair shake when I eventually get an XB1
I don't see the point. Make an already easy game easier? I really stopped executing because it became tedious. Didn't have any problems from lack of xp in the process. Maybe if the mobs were more varied...or I felt challenged... I would care more... This is coming from someone who enjoys pulling off ultra combos on killer instinct.Originally Posted by Miles Quaritch

The combat isn't bad, it just cannot carry a long game, and thus Ryse is short.
Hopefully one day we'll see a good Crytek game again.
It's a lot of fun but the replay value was minimal. I could see this being a rental for a lot of people. Enjoyed it but glad I was able to trade it in for $40 when I was done with it.
Reviews didn't do the game justice.
Ryse actually made me want to play to see what was going to happen next. It was the perfect length also not too long not too short.
The game is just gorgeous and the gameplay can actually be pretty fun and challenging. I have played Killzone, Forza 5, Knack, Resogun, Dead Rising, KI, Crimson Dragon, and a few others. Ryse really is a pretty good game.
With Killzone sure it looks pretty but the game kind of sucks. The characters and the story, it almost feels like a chore to play.
Aww, shucks. You're making me blush.Originally Posted by SwiftDeath

Fair enough, I really enjoyed the visceral aspect of the executions more than anything else. I rarely had a problem with health or focus towards the end, so let it boost my XP, of which I had more than enough to buy all the upgrades.Originally Posted by GoofsterStud

I definitely agree on the variety comment though, but that's something a sequel will hopefully address.
Let's include all of those. That would raise the move count to 12. Oh boy.Originally Posted by Team Vernia
