Sounds like your roommate orchestrated it. He let some one in or he took it him self. How new was your wii u ?

This is almost definitely not a random thief, as there was no reason for them to only take the Wii U. Sad to say, but I'd look at people you know or neighbors or the like. Was your place broken into? Or do you live somewhere crazy where you leave your doors unlocked? Might have been some punk ass teenagers (probably not, but I just love saying that).

I'd be careful and keep an eye out from now on. The robber took NBA2K14 so he/she now knows you have a PS4 and may be back. Hopefully not, though.

Go check your local pawnshops and gamestops. Not all gamestops but some are in an area where there is a law that forces them to hold all traded in items for a set period of days in case it was stolen.

They didn't take your TV or more because it was too much for them to handle in a timely manner. Thieves usually grab whatever will fit in a bag as quickly as possible and go. It really isn't that strange so don't read too much into it. The most you can deduct is they probably used a bag of some sort, were in and out, and they likely didn't have help. Some drug dealer is playing your Wii U while the guy who took it is high as a kite.

OP, do you or your room mate have people over ever? Parties? Maybe a friend of a friend that you don't know very well saw it and took it, or told their thief friend about it.

First of all I hope you get your stuff back / this gets resolved in such a way that it's replaced at minimal cost.

Secondly, I sincerely hope the thief thought he was stealing a PS4, given that only the console and NBA 2K14 were gone. "Hmm, don't recognise this console...MUST BE A PS4!!!! JACKPOT!!!!".

Rather than just taking a couple of items, alot (atleast here in the UK) will stash the goods nearby in something like a wheely bin and comeback for it later.

I'd recommend to check the bins of nearby houses as soon as you discover a breaking in.

Bummer, I had my 360 stollen like 3-4 years ago from my old house, they took my 360, all the cables, controllers, and all my empty game cases funnily enough, I keep all my disks in a cd binder and they didn't take that luckily. I filed a police report and made the trip to all the game stops in the area but never got anything back. I think it was an acquaintance or a neighbor since I had a hide-a-key and there was no sign of a break in, suffice it to say I never used the hide-a-key method again, and I bought an alarm system for my house.

Best of luck to you OP, getting robbed fucking sucks, it made me feel super weird, like violated in a way I never would've thought.

A friend of mine had his Wii U stolen as well - and asked me to help him contact tech support in North America via Skype. If you have the serial number (and a document from your local police department stating the theft, your personal info etc...), Nintendo can recover your ID and digital purchases...

... the only caveat: they must be the same SKU. If you had a Basic and bought a Deluxe to replace it, no dice. And vice-versa.

I don't know if this caveat has changed, as it's been months since I called, but that's it.

Weird, I had a GBA stolen from me, too. I was at summer camp and I guess one of the farm kids (we called them the children of the corn) outside of the camp apparently broke in and stole it, along with a bunch of games. I think it was like a year or two after I got it. Pretty big bummer.

Definitely one of the odd roommate's friends, if not the roommate himself. Lay down some new ground rules for the house if you guys don't just kick the guy out outright.

Also look through your other stuff now. I'd wager whoever it was (if they'd been over before the incident) took something smaller before to test the waters.

The only gaming thing I've ever had stolen from me was my black DS Lite during an exchange of property after a breakup. I gave her back her electric keyboard and she was to give me back my DS, slammed the door in my face and called the cops on me instead. Told them it was her DS and I was being a nuisance, so I let it go. Sucks.

Hopefully Nintendo gets you straight.

And yes I mentioned this theory to the police and other roommates, we're discussing whether or not to try to kick him out but there isn't exactly a whole lot of evidence.

Will you confront him if it turned out he had a hand in this? Will it be a bloodbath?

the police report itself does not facilitate the recovery on its own, but it is what Nintendo will accept in order to recover a victim's game collection.

That's a shame - but as it is distinctly different to what was told me by Nintendo's own tech support via phone, I had to contest it. One thing, though: their policies for portable and consoles *might* be different.

I wonder if it was stolen to order, I had that happen to me once. Considering nothing else was touch it sure sounds like it..

I got up one morning and my downstairs window had been forced open and 2 things had been taken and nothing more. My Epiphone (Cherry Burst) Les Paul and Fender (Vintage yellow) Telecaster was all that was taken, not even my wallet (which was very near them) was taken which had quite a bit of cash in it.

Was gutted, the telecaster was the 1st proper guitar I ever bought - I miss her :(.

Wii U is the best console confirmed according to burglars.

That sucks dude. This is why I'm glad I no longer have roommates, it would have to be an obvious break in for anything to be stolen. It is really iffy having anything really valuable with roommates unless you've been friends for a while.

Hopefully something turns up.

Our Sega Mega Drive was "stolen" when I was a small man, probably around 15 years ago. A few weeks ago my older brother was like, 'What? nah, I sold it when I was at secondary'.

Bastards lied to me.
