"The PS4 sold out in 3 hours and it took the XBox One 3 days, good luck MS you're going to need it".
It's just crazy how some people act.
Well that sentence is problematic, since by all accounts the launch has been succesful, but you certainly can still find an Xbox One.Agreed. I think you got caught up in the cross fire because "You can still find Xbox One" is the typical response people use when arguing that the Xbox One launch hasn't been successful :P
Shocking.
This is exactly what i have been trying to say for weeks now but people kept telling me i was wrong for thinking this way. To me though...all this HYPE for the NPD numbers coming up next are meaningless right now...maybe the NPD numbers a month or two from now may give us a much better indication on how these consoles are really doing but right now every console that is being sold are being sold to the more hardcore gamer and the more serious type of gamer and of course Christmas buyers...which the Xmas buyers will be snapping these up every holiday season.
So when these next NPD numbers come out...everyone is saying "wait for the upcoming NPD numbers!!" ...well i totally disagree...these NPD numbers are meaningless right now imho.
I been saying wait some months and we'll see the real state of both of these consoles....even so..look back at last gen how the 360, wii and ps3 were selling..its been a real roller coaster with last gen. So who knows but honestly we should have a much better idea on everything a few months from now..just like the GS article states.
Please stop and read the cross-quote madness. You're assuming for no reason. Stop doing that. Here, I'll help you:Originally Posted by geek_box12

Until you achieve that task, a couple people taking pics at their local store an amazon stock means absolutely nothing. The people who said there was stock in NY, the next poster wanted proof of a receipt. Like seriously y'all need to stop arguing like little children about which console is selling better an just enjoy your box.
An who cares if it took five minutes or 8 hours, the Xbox sold out on Amazon today. Stop moving the goal post in which defines an item selling out.

I reponded saying there was no good fight because Amazon was selling them all day yesterday and today. Then this guy quotes me? vOriginally Posted by Naminator

Last gen isn't done yet. People will be holding onto their PS3/360/Wii consoles for another 3 years until new games don't come out anymore. Then I think we'll see a split in what people do- they'll either buy a new console, or be too occupied with their tablets.
Considering iPads are huge for consumers and a new one comes out every year, people have to make a choice of what to get each year. Upgrade your iPads/phones to new models, at a discounted price, that they'll use every day- or buy a new gaming console they might use once in awhile. I'm beginning to fear the tablets and phones (and the way 3rd parties keep pushing certain titles out) are going to make dedicated devices go away like Blockbuster.
Who in the world would be crazy enough to do that when they can easily either walk to the store or to buy it from online shops at $400?Originally Posted by kirby_fox
Wait until January/February/March to see how well these consoles are really doing. Even the PS4- because people are buying 4 of them to try to resell them and it seems like the demand isn't there to pay above MSRP for the console.
To be honest, if the XBO and PS4 achieved PSP and DS sales respectively, that would be a monumental win for console gaming in general. That would be nuts. I think one of them will take the lion share and the other will do well but not crazy good.Originally Posted by BladeoftheImmortal

In Australia, you can find Xbones everywhere, both retail and online, and has been that way since launch. PS4 sold out instantly, and the general statement from retailers is they won't be available to buy again until Feb next year. If more PS4 stock does some in, it will just be to fulfil still outstanding pre-orders.Originally Posted by Chuck Norris

From what I've heard, the situation in the UK is similar. Xbox available in stores, PS4 sold out until further notice.
I either of them does lifetime PSP sales I'll be happy.Originally Posted by KoopaTheCasual

You want him to drive to the store and take pictures of Xboxes sitting on a shelf? Look back earlier in this thread if that's your fetish.Pictures please.
I've gamed a lot over the years, but I'm not necessarily that versed in history. I believe the Genesis was out prior to the SNES, the original PS was before the N64, the PS2 earlier two gen's ago, and the 360 earlier last gen.
I don't remember any consoles coming out less than a year apart except for last gen, and I don't remember any coming out a week apart.
Doesn't this have huge implications?
iPhones go on sale and are hard to get for a couple months.
Galaxy S III/4/Whatever goes on sale and it's super easy to get one, walk into a store or just get one online, they're everywhere.
Yet at the same time Samsung has completely crushed any and all Android and Windows Phone competition and is becoming more popular than Apple.
Both are doing well, and both will continue to have good lifespans.
The Saturn and PS1 launched within a couple of weeks of each other in Japan, and 4 months apart in the US.Originally Posted by ChoklitCow

You can also find Wii U's......you can also find high end Android phones not made by Samsung...Originally Posted by Chuck Norris

Bottom line is selling so much that you are out of stock is impressive, especially when you have a high allotment. Add to that when you sell out and sale more than your competition....thats extremely impressive.
It is what it is...
I tried not to mention the iPhone....its like in its own lil kingdom concerning demand...lol Mentioned Samsung because of their popularity in Android land. And other Android phones being just as good or maybe better....but having so so sales, demand.Even Samsung phones you can pretty much get close to launch. They don't have anywhere near the demand as iPhones but still sell really, really well.
Thank You. And Wii sales are always bought up in discussions like this...but for some reason....PS4 sales are being downplayed.....Originally Posted by Dr. Kitty Muffins
They weren't this “reasonable “ when the Wii was setting sales records. The press was willing to sing their praises.

So in a very small amount of time just googleing, this appeared from this forum from a 5th gen sales thread:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...&postcount=180
Now, even looking through the thread I couldn't vouch for the validity of the data, but the guy appears to have done his research. If the data is accurate, would it be fair to discredit early sales?
Obviously there are a lot more variables in play during the modern era, but I'm never a fan of discrediting historical information.
Do I think November's NDP determines who "wins", absolutely not. But I don't think articles like this shed appropriate light on the importance of early sales with direct competition. If anything, one sides early "victory" will just result in a victory for us as consumers.
That to me, is important.
It really is quite astonishing.Originally Posted by BladeoftheImmortal

Like this guy who continually tries his best to argue against those who might want to get an XBox One. Thread after thread it's the same nonsense. The XBox One is selling better than any XBox in history but all of the sudden tablets and smartphones will kill it but not impact the PS4. Or only those who do buy one us only for media and online, not games like Forza, DR3 and multiple other games that aren't on the PS4. Are they getting paid or something?Agreed. Of course, consoles will sell out because of their launches & because of holidays like Christmas.
It's when December's over & when the launch hype for these consoles dies down that the true test for these consoles will begin. And in this case, it's gonna be a tough road for Microsoft more so than Sony, because how many casuals are willing to shell out $500 w/tax on a Xbox One, plus a yearly subscription to Xbox Live Gold for $60, all just for online multiplayer & for accessing many media features?
Not too many. That will round up nearly to the price of a 60 GB PS3. People would rather spend that kind of money on new tablets or smartphones.
I'm just calling it as I see it. There are plenty of posters here that are mostly saying the same thing, yet you're still focusing on just me. Let it go, dude. People like myself have opinions.Originally Posted by Louis Cyphre

If you don't like what I have to say, just ignore the posts.
We don't know how many have been shipped.
Discussing this is pointless until the numbers come out.
Your so called opinion is mostly based on ignorance though. If you don't like what the XBox One offers how about you ignore it? See how simple your own advice works?I'm just calling it as I see it. And no, not everyone is suggesting people would rather buy a tablet or smartphone. Not everyone is also suggesting they only want the XBox One for media and online and not the games the PS4 doesn't offer. You are.

LoL, because the masses never get it wrong...
Also, I'm pretty sure I didn't need voice commands, but now that I have em I don't ever want to go back because it doesn't have to be necessary to be awesome.

Well if the angry bitchy shoe fits...and yes some of the entrenchment here is a fucking joke. I would (mostly) disagree with the mindless bit though.
Did you just join this forum to repeatedly tell people on this forum how stupid and biased this forum is, in between posting about how great your new Xbox is?Originally Posted by CrazyJuan77

The fact that MS can only spout meaningless game stat drivel is a testament to that. Sony is running a train on them.
