yes pls
I loved the aesthetic of the Twili. It was sort of Tron-like.
Then you've got the cool spinner gear gizmo and the clawshot that definitely have steampunk aesthetics.
So yeah, I'd be down.

That wouldn't be that much a departure from the norm for the series though. Blaxploitation Metroid would be to the Metroid series what schi-fi would be to Zelda.I'd rather see a Cyber- or Steampunk Metroid than Zelda tbh.
The way I could see it working is that all the magic could be seen as advanced technology (like in the MCU), the sages were a precursor race to modern/future Hylians, Hyrule is a colonised planet, Epona is a spacecraft and so on.
Don't know how that would fit into the timeline though, that might fuck with it a bit.
OOT always scared me when i was little, the forest / the skeletons / music specially. I want that experience back in zelda. The games just became too soft in my opinion.
I think it could definitely work and Nintendo could make it work.
Yup, I mentioned it earlier. It appeared as an April Fools joke years ago. Having Epona as a motorbike was full of instant win! I'd love Nintendo to make this happen!!!Originally Posted by uberluigi
Wasn't there a fake trailer showing concept art of Zelda in the future, months after the Wii launched? Remember thinking it was cool at the time.

On the subject though, yeah I would love a cyberpunk-ish Zelda game, but Nintendo need to go through with it, make it dark... I feel they can't do that, it will never happen.
Jesus Jumping Flash Christ. Why is this even a thing? Who the fuck comes up with these type of things?Originally Posted by Cameron122

There's a corporation-overlord bearing the Triforce of Power, a goth hacker with the triforce of Wisdom and you begin as a down-on-his-luck ex-cop with the Triforce of Courage.
Kind of like a Deus Ex meets Shadowrun meets Zelda.
Kill me now.
To give them credit, Wind Waker had a bit of a different world from the norm, as did Spirit Tracks with the trains. And Skyward Sword had the potential to have a different world with the sky, it just didn't live up to it.
So I know they are prepared to try new things every now and then. Going Sci-Fi (either Space or Cyberpunk) definitely seems like something they would never experiment with regarding Zelda though. I really think it could be amazing.
In fact, I'd even take a Zelda that straddles both. Travel between time to a fantasy esque traditional Zelda world and the future Cyberpunk world. I'd take that too if they don't want to go all the way.
Maybe one day.
(Yes, I would love this.)
I'd at least take a Zelda came where you can play as either Link or Zelda. At the very least co-op has been hinted at for the next one, so that could maybe happen.Originally Posted by googleplex
How about a fucking Zelda game where Zelda is the main character?
I definitely want to see something different than Zelda getting captured and/or being largely away from the plot for the majority of the game until the end when she comes in with Light Arrows.
Cyberpunk Metroid actually makes a little bit of sense, I'd be down for that. Open world.
but as for straight up steampunk/sci fi, hell no
but more than anything i want something unique doesn't matter where or when is the setting
Also:
It's in French:

- Link sprite was designed by Takashi Tezuka. Like Mario, they wanted a character that would be recognizable from his sword and shield so they thought of a long hat and long ears and went into the direction of an elf. At the time, when you said long ears you thought of Peter Pan and as he's a Disney fan, they drew inspiration from it.
Link's name come from the fact that originally, the fragments of the Triforce were supposed to be electronic chips. The game was to be set in both the past and the future and as the main character would travel between both and be the link between them, they called him Link.
As well as a quote from Aonuma:
I think it's entirely possible for it to happen, but still unlikely.“If we don’t change that, we can’t make something new. We’re slightly approaching The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds with that mindset, and also the next Zelda title, which we intend to continue changing. However, this brings us to the topic, ‘Exactly what is The Legend of Zelda about?”
“Something that is ‘traditional’ is in a sense often something that copies previous works, so if you continue doing that, it gradually takes away from its uniqueness. So we’re currently working on making those parts more and more unique.”
“So, by no means, am I tired of it. Rather, the more we change it, the more I get fired up. Having someone think ‘Huh? Is this Zelda?!’ at first, then ‘Oh, it is Zelda,’ is what we’re going for. Something that wouldn’t make it matter whether Link or Princess Zelda appear in it or not. Something where it wouldn’t even matter if Zelda is actually a princess, or not.”
It'd be interesting to see them pull off a present day Zelda somehow, but the idea above is pretty dumb.
Cyberpunk I'm not interested in. A futuristic Zelda, yeah give me a new IP instead that plays similarly but different enough to be it's own series for a few games.
Yeah that's it.
Agreed, oh I remember the days when people were moaning about Link riding a Train.I'd love it. I don't think Zelda diehards would take too kindly to the idea though.
They were stupid.
I starting to get sick and tired of this new IP talk when Nintendo does make new IP just no one buys them or say that they don't count for some stupid reason.Originally Posted by Teletraan1
Why does everything have to be wrapped in a Mario or Zelda skin. What I would like them to do is make a new IP instead of leaning on mascots. With a new IP they can do whatever the hell they want without rustling any jimmies of overbearing fans.
If you want to see some of Nintendo new IP, I suggest you try out;
-Pushmo
-Dillion Rolling West
-Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword
-Potzol's Puzzle
-The Wonderful 101 (yes this counts as a new IP for Nintendo)
It was fake.Originally Posted by kirby_fox

Don't forget Xenoblade.I don't see why not if the core gameplay mechanic of Zelda is kept.
