So the ending of episode 2 is not a great point to start off a full blown sequel to HL2. Basically the episodes had their own story arc that was going to end with Episode 3. From what I remember you were basically charged with meeting Mossman in the artic because there was a boat their that had some sort of technology to end the fight forever....problem is the fight is pretty much over. The mega portal has been sealed, all the troops left wont get reinforcements, and you are leaving behind all the major characters from Half-Life excluding Alyx.
So basically the sequel will be starting at an awkward point, most people arent going to remember why they are going to the arctic in the first place, and newcomers are going to be lost after picking up on a story that stopped before the final chapter 8 years ago.
And whatever graphical update that will happen is going to be jarring as hell...is the game going to start right after Eli dies in this beautifully detailed warehouse with a new Alyx and Dog model?
:(Half-Life 3 is not
This would really go against the fact that the Half-Life series is entirely in real time....I think there is only one time jump where you arent directly playing as Gordon which occurs between Episode 1 and 2....kind of interesting that all of HL,HL2 and the episodes takes place in the course of a few days from Gordon's perspectiveOriginally Posted by badcrumble
I hope they do the ballsy thing and skip straight ahead to a new storyline while alluding to events in the conclusion of that storyline, making sure we never get to see or play them. We just don't get an Episode 3.
As you said the fight is pretty much over. They can begin somewhere else and recall the ending of HL2 EP2 in any number of ways through exposition.
Doesn't Episode 1 end with you on the train as the city blows up, and Episode 2 picks up right after with you in the wreckage of the train? Or am I forgetting a bunch of thingsThis would really go against the fact that the Half-Life series is entirely in real time....I think there is only one time jump where you arent directly playing as Gordon which occurs between Episode 1 and 2....kind of interesting that all of HL,HL2 and the episodes takes place in the course of a few days from Gordon's perspective
- Episode 3
- Half Life 3
- Portal 3
Summer 2016.
My money's on more Gman shenanigans as well, but hopefully not a repeat timeskip.
just watched it again...I guess you are right...they didnt get very far...so yeah the entire series takes course over 3 or 4 daysDoesn't Episode 1 end with you on the train as the city blows up, and Episode 2 picks up right after with you in the wreckage of the train? Yes Episode 1 ends with you on the end of the train watching The Citadel explode and seeing the shockwave overtake your train.Doesn't Episode 1 end with you on the train as the city blows up, and Episode 2 picks up right after with you in the wreckage of the train? Episode 2 stars with you waking in a train car and meeting up with Alyx as you exit.
I mean it's not necessary to leave all characters out, there's Barney, Kleiner, that other scientist, and whatever other characters they plan to introduce (like the deaf character Gabe once talked about).
The starting point for HL3 is only as bad as Valve makes it to be.
Sure, but he's the kind of mr. mcguffin that could at least be used to string along a story.Originally Posted by pizza dog
Like they even know. He's just some enigmatic nonsense so you think there's some grand plan.
OR MAYBE THE G STANDS FOR GANDALF THINK ABOUT IT
Don't act like he hasn't lost his mystique.
Years of GMOD videos have done him in.Originally Posted by Juan29.zapata

Yes. Get us out of the awful Combine subplot and take us somewhere else. Anwyhere else. All they need is another Stasis and BOOM. We are off to a whole new fresh chapter. Then we get to slowly come to grips with a world that is far to big to understand from our isolated perspective through interacting with other individuals.
This is all gibberish to me.Originally Posted by Juan29.zapata
To the Stasis guys: Why would the Vortigaunts stop preventing G-Man from touching Gordon and Alyx when they only stopped doing that for healing her?

Idiots of Garry's Mod, perhaps the best compilation of of GMOD videos ever paints him as an immortal god. Unfortunately, Youtube blocked it cuz of music industry tards Content IDing it and shutting it down. That video was god damn digital art worthy of sticking in a museum I tell you. 2nd one is still up though I think, not as good though.Originally Posted by Intheflorsh
