I beg to differ. There were multiple articles about how the number of hardcore gamers were switching to different platforms or quitting gaming. How consoles were gonna stuggle out of the gate due to sales pressure from Iphones and tablets. Along side the casuald who have "moved on" also.

Right now we're seeing a record number of customers come out and buy consoles at launch. Thats significant.

Okay, if people wrote things to that affect then fine. But for me the test of whether the home console market has grown, shrunk, or stagnated will come in the two or three years, not in the first weeks of a new generation of hardware.

Thats fine. Still, it seems pretty disengenous to try and paint these record breaking launches as just another day in the park.
