Been saving the series until I had a vacation in a year or two and could afford to sit down and enjoy a Game of Thrones, Witcher, Tactics Ogre binge.
Loved that TO was in the OP btw. TO and ME would be my choices. ME story was so-so for me but I grew really attached to the characters and my choices.
Anything that's an actual gamble.
As for story, the trial with Abigail in The Witcher 1. It took me by surprise.
Bunch of conversations in MasK of the Betreyer too. But I was already pretty good at NWN2 and into character at that point, so it just roleplayed.
Interesting choice. In the epilogue it is revealed that choosing Harrowmont (your trusted, wise friend) leads Orzammar down a road towards stagnation and extinction. Choosing Behlan, your traitorous brother who is by all accounts a duplicitous douchebag who killed your brother and will try to kill you if you vote against him...he leads Orzammar towards a new era of prosperity and makes significant strides in uplifting the lower castes and welcoming back exiled dwarves. The first time I played my choice was simple. Second time...it was a bit more informed.Originally Posted by Intheflorsh
Probably the part in Dragon Age: Origins where you have to back one of two dwarf candidates to become a king. You're given minimal information about them, only brief asides about their philosophy, and you never actually meet them until you've made your decision. They give you a healthy chunk of time to make this decision, which I spent second guessing myself constantly.
I picked Behlan because obviously the caste system needed to go. It was hard to feel good about that choice, however, when Behlan immediately executed Harrowmont as his first act as king. At that point I wanted to get my troops and get the hell out of dodge. I actually have never felt like I made the "right choice" until I read what you said about what happens when you choose Harrowmont. A mark of good storytelling, I would say.Originally Posted by Deified Data

...because it required me to look at the happy, excited faces on my dogs, and to make a decision about which one is going for good.
After that, I think I was put off the game.
Of course Bioware managed to completely ruin the need for independent thought by putting the paragon option at the top every time.
Naming my guild on the FFTAs.
Choosing which pokemon in my party to drop for the newly caught poke or HM slave.
Not a spoiler, don't worry. It is comparable to choosing the evil/hero path in INfamous, except there is no defining line telling you which one is good or bad. The Witcher is really good at that, it gives you multiple options but it isn't as simple as good vs. bad.Originally Posted by KyanMehwulfe
Really hope that wasn't the type of Witcher spoiler I think it may guessed it to be...

Damn it! I was thinking of posting that one also. I felt really bad afterwards, so I bet you can guess what I decided to to. It was a really shocking moment, like 'wow', did they just do that?
There is a question and you can choose "Yes" or "No" but you can't really tell which is selected. A lot of that during PS1 era.
Oh yeah, this is a good one. Made it even worse that they kept showing the pictures of his daughters. I just couldn't kill him...
Because I fucked up that one, I was determined to pass the next test. Then it happened.... whether to take the poison or not. Spend atleast 5 minutes pacing back and forth whether to take it or not.
Squirtle, Charmander or Bulbasaur
Shoot Lambert.
Also most decisions throughout Mass Effect and Heavy Rain.
Fire starter, always.Originally Posted by ryanofcall

For me it was Nier's Ending D, deciding if I wanted to delete my whole existence AKA my complete save data to save Kainé. That was a meaningful decision.
Heh, nice.Picking Ending D in Nier...
But i cannot remember why... ;_;
Actual in-game? Probably in Chrono Trigger where you have the option to fight or take in "Vegeta". I opted to fight (since I didn't know any better then) and afterwards realized what his intentions were all along. It was my first "I've made a huge mistake" moment. Runner up would be most of The Walking Dead.
I proceed to play the first 3 episodes making different decisions to try and save the character. Dies anyway. Got trolled by a friend. Stopped playing for a bit because everything truly goes to shit after and it started with that persons death. That character felt like the only one trying to defuse the situation where every other fucker just wants to get riled up no matter how diplomatic I am unless I say something immoral to appease all the other asshole characters.
:'( Fuck you friend!
Pulling the trigger to kill THE BOSS
I had no choice but it was very difficult moment.
Who to choose on Valentine's Day. I made the mistake of 'going out' with every girl. Boy was THAT a bad idea. I learned my lesson :(
BUT a few months ago i played "Inquisitor" (PC) and it manage to give me hard choises, complicated with some twisted report from various characters that feeded me lies in order to use me (and the inquisition) to get rid of their rivals !
But i cannot remember why... ;_;
Is it appropriate for Walker to commit suicide after all the horrible crimes he has commited ? It kind of felt 'right' to pull the trigger on myself given the situation. Fantastic game.
every QuanticDream game
there are too many memorable decisions in Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain and especially Beyond (homeless, like other girls etc) to choose from. manly tears were shed in all of them. spirited-away-emotions.gif
Regarding Beyond, I was personally very disappointed to see the final outcome is more or less the same no matter what decisions you make. A huge step down from Heavy Rain, where characters could die depending on what you did, and even if every character that could possibly die did, there was still an ending to the story.every QuanticDream game

First playthrough is more enjoyable since you don't know what's going to happen, but subsequent playthroughs were quite disappointing when I realized only minor things changed. :/
also, a new one for me is choosing quest rewards where you have to choose one out of a few options. the star wars and the FFXIV mmo's both have this option and i always 2nd guess myself.

:D
I did not forgive him on my first playthrough.
Especially: Take the food in the boot of the car? That actually hit me. I thought to myself... "Would I actually take that if this was me in real life? Someone may die if I were to take this" I did take it in the end though, after thinking some more...
Also: End of Episode 5... Had Clementine shoot Lee... :(
But for me, it would have to be choosing to sacrifice Cheripha in Covenant of the Plume. She was sweet and didn't deserve it, but...I wanted to experience all possible story paths.
I approve this post.
Damn Sega really need to reboot Alex Kidd. Just make a small downloadable Alex Kidd game. They just need to make the level design and controls more interesting and make the rock paper scissors thing just a minigame for getting access to items or changing a scenario or something. Dying from a rock paper scissors battle was such bullshit. I would assume that if Sega were to bring back Alex Kidd that would be the first thing to go.
ME3 gets a lot of justified derision, but its choices are some of the best ever.
Well ME3 and TWD.
