I played some at an event and it seemed pretty good, and challenging. The question is, is it worth €40 (versus €65 at retail). I've heard mixed things, and it seems like a likely Plus candidate, but I doubt we'll see that for a while.
Thoughts?
Why do folks say that all the time??!! Big AAA games that have only been out for less than a year or 2 are part of PS+ IGC all the time, so folks saying "Knack" has PS+ written all over it, means absolutely nothing.Originally Posted by IrishNinja

A crazy PS+ sale on the other hand definitely seems plausible. But at the same time you could just get it now, rush through it, then sell it/trade it in and probably pay about the same or only a little more than that crazy PS+ sale, especially as you'd probably want to play a game like that while the PS4's still fresh and novel.Originally Posted by zeopower6

Sony seems to wait much, much longer before actually putting games like that on PS+. That's kind of the thing too, you may get it eventually but how long is that going to take anyway? You might get it within a year like Grid 2 or Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, or you could be waiting years. The PSN Plus sale seems a solid middle ground to hope for, that can just be a matter of months, and may go crazy low.Originally Posted by Mihael Mello Keehl

well, its easier for them to put stuff up they own, yeah? launch platformer, did okay but i don't imagine many people checking for it six months or so from now...just seems like a perfect fit, and it'll get even more exposure that way if they want to make another or a spinoff game. didn't mean it as a slight. Why do folks say that all the time??!! I believe sony said only games with 80+ metacritic scores get on ps+, but i'm willing to bet they'll ignore that rule for a first party game.Originally Posted by Mihael Mello Keehl

Edit: Oops, it's 70+. Knack's metacritic is 55 though.
Here's an uninformed opinion based only on watching the Giant Bomb QL and not having played the game myself.Originally Posted by RavenholmDX

It looks terrible and boring, and whatever difficulty it has seems to come from Knack being as fragile as paper. Also Knack's VA doesn't fit him at all. It might have the veneer of first-party but it has the heart of shovelware.
BOLDED: Does not compute. You even quoted him after he edited it lol.Originally Posted by DeadlyVirus

I'd actually argue to the contrary, the game has a heart in the right place, but they forgot to make a good game out of it. Or couldn't do it in time, the game clearly needed more time in the game design phase. Here's an uninformed opinion based only on watching the Giant Bomb QL and not having played the game myself.

Your free time should never be discounted.
If you enjoy challenging games, get it. The combat is decent enough. Seems like the game is fun for one playthrough.
If you're really, really, really curious, go for it. There's a fair bit of content here that, should you enjoy the game, it will be worth your money.
If you can stave off your curiosity, though, I bet it'll be infinitely cheaper in six months.
But you could definitely go on without ever having played the game. There isn't much to it other than combat arenas, and sadly, the combat isn't very interesting. Hours upon hours of a dodge and three hit punch combo. Yawn.
As for whether its worth 40 euros... Maybe. Depends on you. I love Spyro/Ratchet/Jak and since God of War is said to be associated with Knack's combat, (Kinda), may be useful to know if you enjoy that for gameplay too. If you like them all, you'd probably enjoy Knack, more so at that price.
I actually paid £49 for it..., but I can't say I regret it, (Though my wallet really does), as I'm enjoying the game and can see me playing it a while for the items/trophies.
Adults should avoid it. It is boring as hell. Marvel Lego is a far, far better option.
