my media center is going to die soon.
was bitterly disappointed last gen as xbox could not reliably stream media from a nas (codec shit, just generally crappy).

situation any better this gen? I have plex at the moment, so you know, being able to run that/equivalent would be the dream. No doubt xbox dropped the ball on that, but one can hope.

expect begrudging support while subscription based solutions are offered up at every avenue.

Wii U works wonderfully with Plex via the browser. The only problem is with cinemascope movies which are cut off past the standard 16:9 border.

Accessing my NAS in the living room via the browser of the Wii U. Works fine but i really want a native app for this.

All the formats that are wider than 16:9 widescreen. Not sure if I used cinemascope correctly but it's definitely among the wider formats that won't fit the screen and will have the sides cut off as the browser can only display 4:3 or 16:9 videos properly.

edit: found a pic!

the browser can't do the black bars by itself and thus will only display it like in the top left
