Mario Kart DS' Offline Tracks Spotted Online #1

Bless the folks at www.gscentral.org, one of the hackers have found a way to play the levels online.

http://www.gscentral.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=764 (Look at the second page)

http://mmii.info/misc/ticktockclockwifi.avi - Tick Tock Clock Online w/ ShakyCam(TM)

However, I'd advise to you folks not to bother the guy who discovered the exploit because hes been doing this all day.

Not just the levels like Bowser's Castle can be played online, even the battle levels, which sadly cannot be properly played online; the game still acts in race mode, and cause some freezing problems.

Theres no real problem playing them on your end, but things like the long pipe that shoots you up in Waluigi Pinball will look odd when you see the other players as they look like they fall through the floor, but the levels still play properly despite a few hiccups.

All I played online was Bowser's Castle, but the guy is so out of it that he just drives backwards.

Thats fucking awesome.

Apparently some of these courses run smoothly online. Why the hell didn't Nintendo include them? I'm already sick of the online courses.

Wow, that's great news. I agree that the track selection online is rather boring; I'd love to be able to race on some of the new tracks like Tick Tock Clock.

This could get interesting. I suppose that if Nintendo ever releases some sort of GBA cart expansion for this game, we'll know that it was the plan all along and that they removed certain tracks for the sole purpose of cashing in later.

Hmm... how long before one of the GAF folks mimicks this and we have our own "GAF MKDS Extra Tracks" gameplay?

very long, as the tracks are only possible because EVERY cartridge holds the tracks. The guy is simply sending a modified pointer to the track, not the track itself.
Now you'd have to get a modified track on every cartridge if you want that GAF exclusive...

I believe he meant how long until someone from gaf figures out the same thing the guy did. The guy won't say how he did it.

That's Parasyte. He's the main person who has allowed homebrew Action Replay code generation for the GameCube to be possible. He is working on a hacking device for the DS that may even become public, which means all of us could play those tracks online someday. :)

Wow noone posted here in a while. Anyway this is super easy to do. Just get a IPS Tool (IPS Win) and apply Chismn MKDS WIfi Patch and load it on your Flashcard like normal. Thats it!!!!!! I hopign on spreading this because these levels are much funnier to play the what Nintendo gave us.

Here is the patch it is really hard to find.

This took me forever to find the actual patch and looking through 20 page threads to get info and I just summed it up in a sentence with the patch and I cant make a New thread being a junioir Member.
And I know you put a MKDS cart when you play maxmar but the only way to do this is Patch the Back UP Image with this IPS Patch and playing on a Flash Cart( I own it too though)

Actually, there are several ways to do it without helping pirates out... but I digress.

Not exactly, it would appear that they were removed to optimize the online performance of the game. It was at the beginning of the WiFi network anyway.
