Origin has 3 hours until the game is officially released here in Sweden (since using proxy does jack shit with my indian pre-order), if shit ain't working by then I won't be happy. :(

You'll be able to run it just fine on High or maybe on Ultra with other settings tuned down depending on how much you really care about the visuals.

Man this game has some of the cleanest shadows I've ever seen.

Performance has been good so far, followed the Geforce tweak guide for a 680 and am getting a pretty solid 60 most times.

Joaquin: Thanks for contacting EA Customer Experience, my name is Joaquin Jose. How may I assist you today?

you: Hi there!

Joaquin: Hello.

Joaquin: How can I help you today?

you: I preordered Watch Dogs, and it said it was supposed to be available for download about 45 minutes ago. I was wondering if you knew when it would be made available.

Joaquin: Let me check when the download for the game is available. First, may I ask for your name please so I can address you properly.

you: My name is Don.

you: I'm in the Eastern timezone in the US if that helps

Joaquin: Hi Don. Let me check your entitlements for the game. Could you please provide me the email address that is registered to your Origin account.

you: Sure, it's ********

Joaquin: Thank you. Please give me a moment to check this out.

Joaquin: Alright. As I can see here the download for the game should commence today May 27, 2014. May I ask, do you encounter an error when you tried to download the game, or it just does not start at all?

you: It's grayed out with the word NEW in the corner, and it says "Not yet released" "You have successfully pre-ordered Watch_Dogs"

you: And nothing happens when I click on it.

Joaquin: I see. Please give me a few minutes to further check on this.

you: No problem. I appreciate it.

EDIT: Joaquin: Thank you for waiting Don. So we can further assist you with this issue. What I am going to do is escalate the case to our specialists, so they can check why you cannot access the download for the game, even though it has already been released.

Joaquin: They will contact you via email with a solution, once they have finished their investigation.

you: Alright. Sounds good. I look forward to hearing from them.

Joaquin: I would also like to ask you to please monitor the game, if you would be able to download it at a later time.

Joaquin: Alright. Is there anything else that I can assist you with, before I escalate this case?

you: No, thank you, that was all.

So, I at least got some competent help on the other end. Whether or not anything is actually being done is another matter entirely lol

Bottom line: Physical Media still wins out IMHO, buy it, go home, and then install it.

I asked thia in the OT but thought I might get a better response here. Dix the release date on Steam change cor anyone else in Asia? It said 1pm local time when I left the house today but had been changed to 6/26 by the time I got home for lunch.

If it's legit I might just get it for PS4 instead. It does't seem to be that mu h better looking.

That Nvidia guide is very well done. I think the guy that wrote it posts here? If so, good job!

Here's to hoping someone figures out some way to improve the draw distance for cars. To me that's the biggest wart on this otherwise really good looking game.

Running in the 40's with Temporal MSAA, everything on ultra except textures. 1920x1200.

i7 4770k
7970
16GB

All stock, on OC.

Can't wait for the AMD Drivers.

Using anything above Temporal MSAA causes some graphics issues on my side. Like some particles stick to my screen. Especially noticeable at night.

Was just driving as fast as I could around the city, crashing into cars and making them explode. (really early into the game)

Settings
Textures: High
AA: SMAA
Level of Detail: Ultra
Shadows: High
Reflections: Ultra
AO: HBAO+ High
DOF: On
Water: Ultra
Shader: High

pretty happy to be honest. Game should play better if lower other settings to high

:)

game looks nice

Seemed to be getting around 45 fps average, during game play segments outdoors. Raising the Shadow setting to Ultra resulted in immense stuttering, regardless of what I set my everything else too. My VRAM usage seemed to be hovering from ~1880ishGB to ~1999GB.

What was the ??? = console file change to PC people were making? Also, did it actually make a difference, or what?

If I can get 60fps on 1080p with high with SMAA or FXAA, without stuttering or drops, I will be a happy camper.

2500K@60fps
280X@1060/6000
8GB RAM
Win 7 64bit

I just wish I wasn't spending entire day at work.

I'm getting a solid 30 FPS with everything on Ultra expect for textures at 4K resolution. Ambient occlusion at HBAO+ Low. Also disabled motion blur and depth of field.

Specs are i7 4770k @ 4Ghz and GTX 780

For a single 780 I think the performance is pretty good at such a high res. I can't push more than 30 on my TV right now anyway due to no HDMI 2.0 GPUs. Looks incredible.

I've always enjoyed the pieces nVidia puts together highlighting differences.

I do think their "recommended settings" are full of shit, though, as they never seem to guarantee a consistent, smooth level of performance. They say go "all Ultra" on a 780Ti when I know for damn certain that the performance level is unstable with those settings on that card using a more powerful CPU than they featured in the article.

What I'd like to see them do, and perhaps it would require too much time, is attempt to create configurations designed to hit a consistent (or at least 95% stable) 60 fps. This is what I wind up doing anyways (unless it's impossible to reach consistently in which case I lock to 30) but I feel this would be more beneficial.

It feels as if they specify the highest settings for the more premium products even if those products can't achieve consistent performance (unless they lock down to 30 fps...which nVidia would never recommend, I'm sure).

The fact that they're talking about 4k is even crazier to me as it just isn't reachable yet with any card without massive sacrifices elsewhere. Downsampling from 4k really does make this game look dramatically better, though, I have to admit.

Well, the tweak guide did state the suggested settings would allow the game to play without dropping lower than 35FPS at all times. So its almost like they are suggesting to lock at 30fps.

Or that variable framerates are a-ok.

My thought is that most people aren't going to notice too much unless the slowdown affects gameplay. Obviously some people are more sensitive to fluctuating framerate than others.

Watch dogs averages north of 60 fps on my machine with everything on ultra, but it does stutter some when driving, especially if I'm driving fast. (yes, I'm using the disable page file tweak and I'm playing on a SSD)

I'd rather average 60 with drops than have it locked at 30 or make too many visual sacrifices to keep it locked at 60, though. I know that not everyone feels that way :)

Ah, yeah I forget that nVidia cards have adaptive vsync. I'm okay with locking games at 30 if I can't get a stable 60, especially since I'm running crossfire and can't use triple buffering.

My fraps doesn't seem to work. I have the freebie version, could that be a reason why? I'm trying to get fps on this game.

Still stutters like crazy when texture is on ultra. I'm using nVidia's suggested settings and fps dips as low as 17fps.

Once I boot this goblin up I'll let you all know what my experience is with its performance at these specs:

GTX 680 4GB
i5 2500k @ 4.5
8gb ram
1920x1200 (yes, 16:10, don't judge me)

Alright, so I've messed around with the game some and with this rig it performs quite comfortably well.

I have AA on Temporal SMAA and everything else maxed, including Ultra textures, and I'm getting 45+ FPS everywhere with dips to 40 when the action gets heavy. It's a pretty smooth experience, overall.

It's basically the same settings recommended by Andy in his GeForce guide for a 680 4gb, except I've got Reflections on Ultra instead of High.

Everything set to Ultra/maxed out @ 1920x1080.
Vsync off.
2xMSAA.

30 - 60fps depending on where I am, what I'm doing, time of day, etc. Averages 45+ most of the time.

I'm not able to get the MSI Afterburner overlay working, however. The game doesn't boot with application detection on low.

Game is performing well here at 4k. 45 to 60 fps ultra, with motion blur off and smaa. Specs are 3930k @ 4.4ghz and 3x titans. Using 5gbs of vram at these settings.

VRAM usage?

Based on that little stretch of gameplay I did, driving around the city, fucking around, it maxed out at 3.574GB. All cores at 100% usage (well, one at 97%), and 5.127GB RAM.

Has anybody had any crashes yet? Twice now while attempting to hack electronic billboards I crashed to the desktop.

Anyway, my specs:

i7-4770k stock
16 GB RAM
780 Ti SLI

Running everything at ultra (HBAO High, TXAA 4X, etc). On average I'm probably getting about 60 FPS, but it frequently drops into the 50's briefly and even into the 40's sometimes. When I'm driving there are frequent frame rate drops to the 40's, which has made driving a pain in the ass sometimes. Not happy with those drops at all. Tomorrow I'll either tweak my settings to find a sweet spot or lock the frame rate at 30 FPS.

Everything on ultra 1080p. I7, 16gb ram gtx780. Was fluctuating between 40fps and 60fps so I changed display to 50hz with vsync to 1 frame I am now locked at 50fps feel smooth as butter

I see a lot of people running settings and then reporting framerate. Is there anybody who is targeting roughly 60fps average and wants to report what sort of settings that requires? I know the vsync on this isnt supposed to be great so it probably requires a good amount of overhead but I'm still curious.
