DS Adventure goodness: Osawari Tantei Ozawa Rina #1

A new adventure has been announced for the DS, did a search and it came up blank so here goes. It's called Osawar Tantei Ozawa Rina and it puts you in the shoes of Ozawa Rina, a young girl who investigates dreams or their paths from what I understand. What struck me most was the almost creepy look of the characters, certainly this is what the game gives it character the most right now.

It seems to be an old-school point & click (or point & touch) adventure, more than Another Code, where you do everything on your bottomscreen, while the upperscreen is used for dialogues and the like. Looks really cool, and I hope it get's a release in the west somewhere in the future. It's developed by Succes and features 4 chapters and weird looking characters.

Edit: It's set for a release in April in Japan, which is quite fast.

Fantastic Look! Remember a little Grin Fandango.

I hope that game has a good gameplay and I hope it's coming for USA or Europe too!

Ah, finally. The DS is a portable that screams out for Adventure games.

Art style's interesting. I thought at first the character art below was the main character, though, I like her (I assume) design a little better. Still, I'm interested.

might as well put up a link to the official site, even though there isn't much there yet.

The character art is a little weird but the actual screens look very nice. Interesting locations, very atmospheric.

Well it's technically impressive, the actual art content is a massive turnoff to me. I don't want to live the adventures of what looks to be a saturday morning FoxBox character

Cool art style... chalk up another reason why the DS needs to lead the charge for an adventure game renaissance.

I was thinking mushroom, personally. Either way, there's a bunch of them on the main site, it's one of the first characters with a bio, and I saw it in the trailer/tutorial movie several times...

And I wonder why inthegray said there wasn't much on the official site yet, I saw screenshots, a movie, explanations and tutorials, profiles (although not many yet) wallpapers, and even a PDF cutout mask. :P

DS is a great platform for adventure games. I hope there is a Detective Club game in the works and that comes to America.

The DS is great for point&click adventures, but couldnt they use the upper screen a little better? Map? Inventory? Or will the look change depending on situation?

It's a shame that this is likely to stay Japan only.

I'd love to play it, but Adventure games are usually text-heavy.

Unfortunately, I think Trace Memory's poor sales will hurt the chances of future point and click adventure games, too.

While we're on the subject of Trace Memory, I hesitated on picking up the US release because I heard the script was more "Americanized" versus the EU release, and that the script suffered a little because of it. Is that true?

I guess you could say it was Americanized, sure, but I don't think it suffered for it at all. Actually, I thought the script was pretty superb -- NOA's got some amazing writers, and I think the quality of Trace Memory's script stands up really nicely. I found the writing top notch throughout, and any Americanizations didn't at all hurt the overall plot of the game nor the character personalities and interactions.

Who cares about the script? the game is crap. Get Phoenix Wright if you are looking for a great Adventure. If you´ve already beat it, then just pray for Capcom to release the following chapters outside Japan.

Nah, the game is definitely not crap -- it's not as good as Phoenix Wright, sure, but it's still very solid, aside from its shortness. The puzzles are fantastic, and the story is very nice. I really enjoyed piecing together the mysteries and the game's history, and the character interactions were enjoyable.
