whoa, that last picture is awesome! Link is the ladies man, she even drew the oracle of ages/seasons too. And as other people mentioned, first link is Not safe for work!

First zelda game I played was Zelda II. I remember being shocked when I finally played the original zelda and it was a top down perspective

so no commemorative merchandise? argh! My friend got the 4 swords set with all four links, they look awesome. Now release the damn game Nintendo! Or at least a new trailer

I played The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II The Adventure of Link a few times at a buddy's house in the late 80s.
I never owned either game. the first Zelda game I had myself was A Link To The Past in 1992. pretty much the only Zelda games I play are aLttP and Ocarina (hurry up Twilight!)

Happy Birthday, Link! Happy Birthday, Zelda!

20th Anniversary celebrations for games last all year, you know. So as long as Twilight Princess makes it out this year, it's all good. It's actually more appropriate than last year.

Nintendo could throw us a few screens today, though. :-(

Wow, it has been 20 years hasn't it? Not my favorite franchise (2nd or 3rd, depending on what I feel like atm) but Zelda was probably my most played NES game. It's one of the few older games I can almost photographically remember nearly every screen from. It's still a blast to pick up and play through even today.

Rock on Zelda.

Yeah, Zelda is easily my favorite game series, and knowing that it's twenty years old makes me feel a little older.

I wish I could be playing the new game by now, but as for celabratory merchandise, this stuff is all they've released so far.

Great thread. I've heard that Zelda almost didn't make it over because it was thought too complex for american gamers. That would have been a damn shame. What a great game, it took me months to beat it, and when I did, I was rewarded with a second quest with all new dungeons and secrets, and a whole new move (pushing through walls).
