First of all I couldn't sleep so I just decided to stay up all night. Wasn't that bad really. Around 3:30 AM I started walking towards my nearest train station. It took about 40 mins in the freezing cold, raining slightly.
After catching the first train towards Umeda, I met my friends in front of Yodobashi camera at 6AM. There was already a huge line around the building so that place was a no-go.
It was looking pretty bleak at that point, so we started cursing Nintendo in their stupidity.
But since we were already there, we decided to go down a few train stops and see if we could find something around the Den den town area. After walking for a big we find Bic camera and the line isn't too bad. They are also handing out numbers and we got in right in time. Only around 2-3 people behind us got numbers also.
After standing there for a few minutes we realized our blunder. This store was not opening until 10 AM, so that meant a good 3 hours outside. We decided to brave it since we were guarenteed our pretty little DS Lites. Missing school and work ftw!
While in line we have a nice Mcdonalds breakfast feast, and the time slowly creeps by. Lots of nerdy conversations ensue of course.
Around 10 they start letting us in, but it is still a bit of a wait until we actually buy them.
When I get to the counter, I drool over the tiny little packaging and hand the lady my money. Just then as she types in my number, bells start going off and people start clapping. I am dumbfounded until she points to a sigh that says that 1 out 100 people get one for FREE! I am still pretty dumbfounded as she hands me my money back, and I walk out with a brand new DS lite free of charge.
Haha the best part is that the guy who handed out the numbers deliberately skipped my friend(who was closer to him) and handed it to me. Luck of the draw I guess.
So here my baby is:
The packaging is so sexy, I love it. Gonna use the box for something, dunno what yet.
It looks really small in my hands, but I also have huge hands. Still comfortable though.
All these are on the highest setting too. CoM is beautiful =)
I was planning on selling this one on ebay(Still have a blue one on order), but it is not often that I actually win something so I will probably just keep it or give it to a friend if I get a blue one later.
As far as Impressions, I am in love with it. The complaints about the buttons don't concern me at all. Although they are strange, I like them a lot better than the original clicky bastards. Feels nice on the hands. It isn't too cramped, and I find it comfortable to hold. It is a perfect size for slipping in your pocket. The original was too bulky and would be uncomfortable but this one feels like a wallet, etc.
I love the new stylii, the old ones were too small for my hands. I like how the new switches are too. Especially the volume switch is easier to use.
My only complaint is that the strap doesn't come with the thumbpad thing. <shrug>
All right, well I will probably put up some more pictures tomm, maybe psp/DS comparison, or something.

Heck, even I'm jealous. I want a DSL for free too. :(
