E3 Booths Revealed #1

Sony & Nintendo have huge booths, as always. MS's booth is smaller than expected.

Lock if old

Sony has a fatter one while Nintendo's is longer.

EDIT: Ooh, Funcom right next to Sony & Nintendo, nice. It would have been a short walk.. if I was attending.

2nd EDIT: Gamespot is right next to Sony & Nintendo as well. Easier coverage I guess.

In before measurements

Edit: Could someone post last years if they can find them for comparison? Also, a blown up top image would be nice!

Edit again: Can someone bomb the wildtangent booth? I"m tired of their spyware....thx.

Why are they still using "Sony Computer Entertainment America?" Shouldn't it be Sony Computer Entertainment?

Can't wait!! Only 22 days left until the Sony conference

I would've expected Sega to have a much smaller and EA to have a much larger booth.

I'm pretty sure the Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft booths have been the same size as shown for the last few years now.

That looks pretty much exactly the layout of last year for those three at least.

Thats wrong, that's so wrong. Good things do come in small packages... but BIGGER and BETTER things come in Big packages. I just hope the nintendo section isn't wasted on shitty DS games this year and hopefully packed with revolutions.

Sony's usually has a "second" level as well. I wonder if Microsoft likes being in the South Hall, because after 5 years, you'd think they'd be able to wrangle up enough cash and clout to get into the West Hall.

What number of games, for you, would "packed" mean? keeping in mind they usually have 2-4 units per game.

Anyone have exact measurements of the 3 big ones?

EDIT: VVV No, I wasn't serious but MGS4 will definetly be there(most likely both places).

seriously? I wonder if they are planning to show their PS3 games. I think they have like 4 or 5 in development, I hope they don't leave them for TGS.

Have been to a number of E3s now, it all ends up pretty much the same.

The Sony booth has the advantage of not being backed up against the wall so they can make better use of the edges and its easier to get through than the Nintendo booth. Plus they tend to do more multilevel displays than Nintendo or Microsoft.

The Microsoft booth always feels a little smaller than the other two though. Last year their second level wasn't very useful either.

for some reason i thought the topic said 'e3 booth babes revealed', so when i clicked on the thread initially i was disappointed, but then i realised e3 is like 3 weeks away!

last years floor plan:
http://2005.e3expo.com/e3expo/floorplans.asp

west hall pdf:
http://2005.e3expo.com/assets/pdf/fl..._West_Hall.pdf

south hall pdf:
http://2005.e3expo.com/assets/pdf/fl...South_Hall.pdf

they look pretty similar.

So, the demo stations might look something like (not couting retail setups and free standing structures)...

Microsoft's booth = 90% 360 and 10% PC games
Nintendo's booth = 40% DS, 35% Rev, 20% GC, & 5% GBA
Sony's booth = 33% PS2, 33% PSP, 33% PS3

Intresting fact: most booths are consturcted already and being shipped to the show. Last minute prints on graphics are possible, but the basic stuff is done with and companies have had their booth walkthroughs in big hangars. Somewhere out there, in a unmarked truck convoy, Nintendo's Revolution booth is traveling to fulfill the dreams of a million fanboys, and Sony's booth containing an extensive PS3 area (or not) is being loaded.

Are you going to make this into an online novel? :)

E3 is so f'ing frustrating because it gets me so excited every year and I can't get the information fast enough. Now I am 3000 miles away from the U.S. eastern shore and it is more frustrating because I would rather do cool things in Spain than follow the internet but I feel like the next month is so incredibly pivotal for the future of the videogame industry that I can't pull myself away lols.

It's their cash cow and they were serious in GDC about pimping it for another 4-5 years... expect a lot of PS2.

There are a few unannounced games, and a ton of sequels still coming. Still, certainly not a hot spot for hardcore gamers, but since the show is for retail and media, it still deserves some decent space.

I'd like to see some damn launch titles a good 10-15 games would be nice. Maybe some games that are to come out during the rest of 06/07.

I hope they show all those PS2 games running on the PS3 backwards compatibility mode.

Personally GoW 2 looks like the last great PS2 game from Sony, they will probably let the third parties pimp out the system for another 4 or 5 years...

At least this confirms no playable Halo 3, cuz if there was im sure they would have some HUGE setup.

Anyways I love how Gamespot is right next to Nintendo and Sony again, they will get some awesome coverage again like last year. They have some good shite like that interiew with Aonuma. God i cant wait.

Well, are there any GCN games beside Zelda and Baten Kaitos 2 to show?
For GBA there's much more (e.g. the Digiluxe Series).

And I think the Revolution booths will need very much room.

Those are all third party games mate; they will be shown on the developer’s booth not the Sony booth

I doubt it, ps3 pods will probably be at a premium ;) Besides, their BC solution may not be "showfloor stable", if there is such a thing. I remember reading reports from Sony's pre-PS2 launch shindig, just a couple of weeks before launch, and how BC demos locked up frequently etc.

I do hope there's some BC demo, though..and also a showing of Linux running off PS3, and details on what it can be used for.

Microsoft's, Sony's and Nintendo's boothes are all the same size as they were last year. Also the south hall is much larger than the west hall, meaning Microsoft's booth is larger than it looks.

Sony's booth hold games for all publishers, not just Sony's. (Well, all games that Sony wants to pimp anyway.)

It would be funny if you're standing in Sonys booth trying to play a game and suddenly people were running around you, ducking behind things, shooting each other with Revmotes.

Sorry, don't know why that image popped into my head.
