Thank you for your kind words Wreck!! Working on the next update as well. Tokyo Xanadu will definitely come I bet!!!

Another great update Fady. I'd not heard of Crows: Burning Edge until now, glad to see it getting a VIta release. Really hope it turns out good...

You're most welcome bro. Crows looks pretty nice! Stay tuned for the next update :D

Has it already been mentioned that Super Time Force Ultra is coming on September 1st for PS4 and Vita?

Not yet friend but it'll be on today's updates. So cool - we'll all get to play it in less than a day :D

I regret going into this thread, so many Japanese games to buy
((((;゚Д゚)))))))

Don't regret Hcoregamer00 (haven't seen you in ages!!), instead enjoy and look forward to the next few updates in the thread today. "Please be excited" haha

Yet another rating. COME ON 2K :D (On that topic, a lot of 2K games can work on the Vita. We need more games from them there!)

Space Hulk is a fairly faithful interpretation of the boardgame, where the difficulty comes from every single loss rendering your ability to protect each other even less viable, and inevitably your fire arcs and need to advance means that the Terminators on rearguard tend to get the shitty end of the Imperial stick. I've been playing the board game for twenty years, so if anyone would like an explanation of what's happening in the video, feel free to ask :)

You start off with a sergeant equipped with a sword that makes him slightly less easy to kill in melee, three troops with storm bolters (machine guns) and all of them can use overwatch to cover each other, another has a flamethrower that can purge whole rooms or block off corridors. Later on you get access to more weapon options, Librarians (psychics), melee specialists etc, but everything builds on basic squad tactics really well due to the importance of overwatch and gunning down genestealers as they emerge from cover. Then there's the genestealer leaders...

I'm curious to see how the 'fog of war' affects the game. In the boardgame you can see the whole map and counters marking potential groups of stealers (from 0-3) leading to cool fake-out tactics from the 'stealer player as theyvmake you waste precious turns guarding against a false reading on your motion tracker!

Space Hulk Vita screenshots I captured:

Quick impressions:

Good:
  • Captures the look and feel of Space Hulk very well.
  • Strategic gameplay has a mild learning curve, but it's decently intuitive. The first mission is slow and easy to get you started.
  • During missions, players can use either physical or touch controls to command units.
  • The first-person window in the top-right corner of the screen adds to the claustrophobic, scary atmosphere of the game.

Bad:
  • Not PlayStation TV compatible.
  • Outside of gameplay, the menus force touch for no reason. I thought my game had crashed when the d-pad and analog stick wouldn't move the cursor.
  • Some of the text is ridiculously small. You can tell they did little user experience testing on actual Vita hardware. See the summary text on the right in the final screenshot. The loading screen text is also needlessly tiny.
  • Loading times are a bit excessive, like ~1 minute to load into a mission.
  • The game needs a patch to add physical controls to menus so this can be PS TV compatible!

Overall I certainly recommend it to Space Hulk fans. It's a competent port of the 2013 Space Hulk PC title with what appears to be 3 of the 4 DLC campaigns included. Maybe skip if you can't read small text very well.

The Vita is the gift that keeps on giving! Volgarr is incredible - well worth a purchase. Do you have a time frame?

I might be wrong, but I understood that Gal Gunvolt is just a port of Mighty Gunvolt, which is an "extra" sidegame to the big game - Azure Striker Gunvolt.

No news regarding Papers, please? :( I am really looking forward to it, that one and also salt and sanctuary. It seems that both are going to take long.

I'm also waiting for Papers, Please.

I keep telling myself there will be a blowout montage at PSX that will confirm already announced and leaked games. I say this because I also think it's unlikely we will get many NEW game announcements and they need something to show.

Then again, last year we got Grim Fandango. That was a great get.

Thanks for that, much appreciated! Just ordered it, seems pretty good for £21.

I don't mind load screens into a mission taking a while when you might spend an hour doing it, but the lack of non-touch controls for selecting a unit seems a bit odd. As you say, it's a lack of thought from porting the PC version, but perhaps a more generous interpretation might be that they thought it's evocative of moving the minatures :D

Loads of console strategy games use L1 and R1 to cycle through remaining units, I don't see why they couldn't add that. The small text log is a bit unfortunate too- I'd have preferred the text to be much bigger but only show that last two or three entries, but you can expand on it by touching it or something. It's not like Space Hulk is that complex that you'll use it for anything other than checking what went wrong with the RNG.

@Fady Thanks as always, grand work.

Sorry for not being more clear. During actual missions in Space Hulk, you can use physical controls or touch controls. L1 and R1 do indeed switch between units. It's the out-of-mission menus that inexplicably don't support physical controls. And everything is so tiny in those touch-only menus that the touch experience sucks.

I hope you enjoy the game!

We'll get some new stuff I think - but probably a montage of games we know are coming just to confirm they're still on their way.

Necrodancer and Shiren are HUGE! Best dead console ever.

I'll believe X-COM when I see it.
I recently just bought one and am shocked at how many games there are available and how many are still planned. I thought the Vita was a thing of the past, but it seems alive and well from what I see.

It's such a shame that the "Vita is dead," narrative was allowed to propagate, leading to many people not even investigating the console or its library. It is hands down the best handheld I've ever owned. My Vita library is about 200 games strong now. A great mix of PS1, PSP, and Vita specific titles. I wish I had more time to get through my library, but I just don't!

I've shared this thread, and previous ones with friends of mine, and they were always blown away by how many games are coming, and already released, on the system. They also thought it was a "dead" platform.

IFI has just announced Neptunia V-2 localization, a game yet to be released in Japan. But still no news on Shin Makai Trillion, Death Under the Labyrinth or Tag Team Blanc + Nepnep. Do you think that IFI is ending their Vita support? I'm surprised that they still haven't announced Trillion localization. I mean, it's their one of the best games they've ever made.
