I hope someone is keeping a worksheet of the dumb things being said on the right daily. We can't even have a Sunday free of stupidity.

I wonder how things would have played out if there was a credible anti-Clinton candidate. Sanders' success convinces me that a non-socialist 75 year old good candidate could potentially beat her.

If not for saying stupid shit I'm starting to think Brian Schweitzer could have really taken it to Clinton.

We can use all the infrastructure jobs we can find, in this shitty economy especially. Building a wall would create jobs.

?????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????????

We could use all the infrastructure jobs we could get.

We also happen to have a lot of infrastructure already that could use some work.

It's almost as though people are avoiding it so they don't have to raise taxes to pay for it.

EraceeAcer at this point is clearly a cult follower of Bernie, it seems to barely even be about politics anymore. If Bernie asked him personally to leap off a building I am confident he would.

What would happen if Bernie asked him personally to support Hillary?

I ask this a lot. And the question applies equally to supporters of all candidates.

One would think that, in the minds of his more fervent supporters, Bernie is to be trusted, as he would know the most optimal course of action for furthering his causes.. riiiiiiiight?

I will vote for Bernie if he somehow miraculously became the nominee.

I think Sander's supporters will (reluctantly) vote for Hillary once he endorses her. Also, that fear of a Republican from the clown car being the president will push many of them to the polls, as we inch closer and closer to November.

I will enthusiastically be a cheerleader and hope for the best next year. The madnesses that may ensue if Bernie endorses Hillary will be something else...

Honestly I don't think Bobby has any self hate. He has clearly divorced himself from his ethnic culture and views himself as nothing more than an American. I've met plenty of people who have similar views - either black conservatives or immigrant Christians who view their "former" heritage as primitive or ungodly.

Not saying all black conservatives are like this, but clearly there is a market for a specific type of black conservative who openly shits on "black culture," criticizes black people, and views him or herself as just an American.

Of course it's perfectly fine for white people to be Irish American or Jewish American or Italian American etc, but any cultural pride from a non-white person can be subject to criticism ("there's no such thing as an African American, we're all American.")

Hmrm, not particularly, no.

For example, the black vote is, apparently, pretty much locked for hillary. In this case, their ideal strategy would be to show more support for Sanders in order to get hillary to more proeminently try to conquer their vote. They are, however, mostly immediately resigned to supporting hillary, and in doing so weaken their bargaining power.

Point being that one's view of what is rational can be quite arbitrary indeed.

I should've explicitly limited my statement to the specific point in time of the process where the nomination has been decided.

Before the nomination is decided, you're right - that'd be where voters and voting groups would be able to exert maximum leverage over candidates. But once the nomination is decided, where the Bernie supporter is faced with the Support-vs-Don't-Support decision is where I was primarily directing my statement. It'll always be subjective (something I love/hate about political science), and there are all sorts of side-variables in each individual voter's decision process, but the general logic used to arrive at one decision will often seem much less convoluted (and applicable to more individuals) over the other decision.

Why do non-border states Republicans care about illegal immigration so much? It's a near non-issue on their states.

Xenophobia.

Well, and talking points, i guess. No reason for most people to give a flying fuck about the size of the federal budget, and yet it seems that quite a lot do. I'm sure that there are several other topics that share a similar bizarre support.

Because voters in their state care about illegal immigration? This is about white resentment and the fear of America changing. Yes their states aren't impacted but their country is.

Another thing I read all the time: "they're importing Democrats from South and Central America because REAL Americans won't vote for them anymore."

The voters have no reason to care, it's pretty much purely racism if you are all worked up about the issue if you aren't a border state. Illegal immigration is not a real issue in these mid-west states like Wisconsin. It's crazy how we (as in society, not PoliGAF) just kind of ignoring how much of the issue is just blatant racism.

Yeah, they got my vote next year!

The hilarious part is these idiots get so offended when you show the myths they believe in are wrong. Too bad they double down and it leaves me in disbelief that I know more about the issues and problems/how government works, at least on a basic level than they do. I'm a fucking E.T. for God's sake lol. I'm going to get more passionate on this because while I can pass more or less, without any issue, it hurts me to see these people talking bad about other human beings as though they are subhuman. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though given this country's history towards immigrants. We're merely in another cycle of xenophobia and racism. It'll certainly happen again in the future even after immigration reform is inevitably passed.

Immigrants don't just stay in the border states. In the southeast we're a long ways from the border but you only need a trip to Wal-Mart or a Chinese buffet to reveal how much less white it's become.

You do know that undocumented workers don't just stop in those first states. Their are no borders between states

There numbers are less but there are a lot in places like NYC, Washington DC Area, Chicago.

That Time Donald Trump Had A Meeting With DREAMers And Said "You Convinced Me" On Immigration. (This happened in August, 2013)

Trump alternated between making no sense and broad ignorance on the issue, according to Gaby Pacheco, a prominent national activist and the third DREAMer in the meeting.
“Don’t you think someone in a wheelchair is more deserving than you all?” Trump said to silence.

But he also kept asking, “Can’t you just become a citizen if you want to?” No, we can’t, the activists said, there’s no process for that. Trump was reflective, the activists said.

“You know, the truth is I have a lot of illegals working for me in Miami,” he told them, using the term for undocumented immigrants those in the meeting found offensive. “You know in Miami, my golf course is tended by all these Hispanics — if it wasn’t for them my lawn wouldn’t be the lawn it is, it’s the best lawn,” Pacheco recalled Trump saying.

Trump said he knew the work of undocumented people is what makes his golf courses and hotels great.

“At the end of the day, what we’re looking at is a value proposition for America,” Tijerino said to Trump at the end of the meeting, referring to immigration legislation.
“You’ve convinced me,” Trump said to the delight of the activists in the room.

[Trump] was in entertainer mode even as the meeting concluded, cracking jokes with the group about how they needed better ties — and walked them downstairs straight to his gift shop.

Trump declared that they could have whatever they wanted for free.
He gave away a watch, and his daughter’s book. He gave away chocolate. Pacheco scored a perfume; the guys got a bunch of Donald Trump ties.

“Everything said ‘Made in China,’” Pacheco said.

(The article is a couple of days old so apologies if it has been posted. Thought it was interesting and kind of hilarious.)

Well, any economic impact (negative and/or positive) from undocumented workers will be felt in any state that they live in, not just border states. Fear-mongering about illegals and crime is an easy win with their constituency, even if the facts don't bear out illegals committing crimes at a higher rate (quite the opposite, actually). There's also the extremely complex and difficult to measure impact illegal immigrants have on social services (police, hospitals, etc).

Examiner: Just say racism.

I guess I'm not really surprised, but god dammit, the tinfoil hat crowd is already saying the WDBJ shooting is basically Obama's last big push to BAN ALL GUNS/rape the 2nd Amendment before his Presidency is over.

I weep for the amount of stupid people in this country shitting up our national discourse on things that really matter.

Why the hell would anyone think that Sanders is going to be so bitter about losing (and losing a race that he obviously knows he's going to lose) that he wouldn't endorse Clinton?

Because part of the opposition to Sanders has been trying to vilify his support to the point where they not only think that they're racists, but spiteful idiots.

Which is why i kinda hate when parts of poligaf goes all "lol them sanders people, they so stoopid". You stop seeing or treating them as your future allies, and needless antagonism only benefits the enemy.

Maybe on GAF and various internet places but not in that poll nor with the actual candidates(so far)

Of course, and then one also factors that outside of gaf and certain places, it would be very hard for people to care less about closely following candidates for an election that's more than a year away.

Unless that candidate is The Donald.

Always trying to attack Bernie. "Bitter?"

Maybe he'll stand on principle. Put country before (not his) party. Stand up to evil rather than do its bidding.

The real fear should be that Hillary and the rest of her fat cat Wall Street cronies are so bitter that they sit on their hands or go for (or back to in Hillary's case) the GOP when Sanders gets the nomination.

Actually, that'll probably be a good thing because it'll just illustrate and make Bernie's message stronger putting a lock on the general when the people hear his message and rise up against power.
