God Eater 2 Rage Burst is going to be interesting (on Vita at least, PS4 probably not). The vanilla version is still the highest selling Vita game to date, right?

At Yodobashi all stores have PS3/4 version of DB Xenoverse out of stock, even online shops. I think this is because of under-shipment though.

By a long way. It's looking like Rage Burst is going to take over that crown. I'm guessing nothing else will come close unless Saga has some kind of revival.

PS4 version of Rage Burst still not charting?

Nope, neither is FF Type 0 HD

I wonder if DQH will have the smallest PS3 : PS4 ratio for a Japanese game. The bundles will definitely help.

With Episode Duscae dropping on day 1, I imagine Type-0 HD pre-orders will start to pick up.

Rage Burst's demo went live last night, so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a boost. Apparently the PS4 version is quite unspectacular, so I'm not sure the demo will help things on the home console.

It's possible that Rage Burst will be more front loaded than the original release but either way it should be close.

In the demo thread people are complaining that the PS4 version is a pretty barebones port(30fps, same textures, not 1080p/black bars). I don't know if it reflects general sentiment but it might not give much of a boost.

You caught me before my stealth edit. ;p If the demo gives a boost, I'd expect it to be on Vita.

Yeah, that makes sense. Wouldn't the majority of Vita players have played the original release though and already know what to expect?

While the original release was a while ago now, there might be some people on the fence wondering if they should get the expansion. A good demo could certainly sway them.

This week's Dengeki doesn't have top 3 per platform chart. Guess no point reporting them with xbox sales being as low as they are.

It's early days, but it looks like Bravely Archive is still slowly climbing the charts.

If you look just before where February 1st is, it's not overly uncommon for a game to just keep going down and fall off the charts like Square Enix's other launch in this window did.

Here it's interestingly spiking to a new high.

That said, I'd say the best check point for if something is going to stick around is around two months after launch, since it's past when most people will burn out on a title they're not going to stick with.

It was advertised on the Bravely Second stream yesterday and I believe playing the Bravely Second demo gives you stuff for Bravely Archive. I imagine it will get a similar boost if/when it gives you stuff for Bravely Second.

Yeah, that definitely explains the spike today, though it did seem to recover on the lead up there as well.

Yeah it's a bit of mystery as to why it dropped and then rebounded. I have to wonder how the PR cycle for Bravely Second affects the game in general.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
It's also around 50th on Google Play (Grossing Ranking). Given the extrapolated numbers for 30th-40th (I mean, the ones I've extrapolated from DQV's performance when it was around that ranks), it's not doing such a huge amount of money, but I'd say it's doing decent, and it's resisting more than what I thought.

What's surprising to me is that Bravely Archive still has to go over 500,000 downloads on Google Play, despite being a stable presence in top 10 Free Downloads. Once it crosses that mark, we can have decent enough estimates for top 10 placements in the Free Downloads chart (which, by logic, should have bigger numbers than the paid Downloads one, where you could be first with just 2,000 downloads per day).

Yeah to be clear there's not a huge difference between spots 40 and 50, which is why we see the charts swing wildly around that area.

To me the more interesting part is that it didn't just tank off the face of the earth when it started going down like a super quick burnout title, which are quite common in non-flagship mobile titles (or even some flagship ones).

Well, yeah. I think Square will probably be far more satisfied by Bravely Archive, given the expectations, compared to...Final Fantasy Agito.

We should get together and purchase an App Annie Intelligence subscription for mobile sales estimates.

They do a pretty good job at mobile sales tracking.

Who wants to fork over $15,000 for a yearly subscription?

I know we already had the thread about David Gibson tweeting that, but it's confirmed from Nintendo itself now

How well do Dragon Ball games sell in Japan? I hope it DBX doesn't fall victim to under shippings.

Really well on 3DS, pretty terribly on everything else.

I said before that Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission on 3DS did 282k, the sequel on 3DS is at 181k.

The games on everything else in recent years don't do anywhere near those.

Edit: Famitsu data from JapanLTDRank:

3DS Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission - 90,119 / 282,561
3DS Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 - 70,832 / 181,751
PS3 Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z - 32,099 / 54,512
Vita Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z - 21,061 / 40,456

I'll try to find numbers for the prior ones on PS3. And 360 if you want. Battle of Z was the lone Vita entry.

Edit: Famitsu numbers from Garaph:

PS3 Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit - 82,010 / 163,010
PS3 Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast - 63,641 / 129,688
PS3 Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast 2 - 54,214 / 84,922

No sign of Ultimate Tenkaichi numbers, weird. Maybe it never charted. o_O

Edit: Seems no one posted the Famitsu chart of Ultimate Tenkaichi's release.

Here's the first week in Media Create:

PS3 Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi - 44,593 / ???

Edit: DAMN, Ultimate Tenkaichi dropped from 07 to 41 in its second week. o_O

Combined multi-platforms, re-releases and digital figures for a total Famitsu LTD (via JapanLTDRank):

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai (PS2/GC) - 590,830
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 (PS2) - 584,183
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 (PS2) - 675,565
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi (PS2) - 551,894
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (PS2/Wii) - 601,180
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (PS2/Wii) - 448,593
Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit (PS3/360) - 188,061
Dragon Ball: Raging Blast (PS3/360) - 140,504
Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 (PS3/360) - 98,448
Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3/360) - 83,175
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z (PS3/PSV/360) - 98,897

The non-main home console games:
Super Dragon Ball Z (PS2) - 198,074
Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World (PS2) - 199,966
Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo (Wii) - 44,160

I can't really say how I expect Xenoverse to perform in Japan. There's some good news, definitely. Not only is there a "new
to you
" storyline, it'll be the most recent Dragon Ball release on store shelves when the new movie launches.

I'm quite optimistic about Xenoverse's international potential. If it gets good reviews, I think it could be the best selling entry since the end of the PS2 push. Burst Limit and the first Raging Blast both shipped more than a million units globally, with the PS3 dog entries pushing upwards of 600k.

Edit: DAMN, Ultimate Tenkaichi dropped from 07 to 41 in its second week. o_O

Kind of sad, because on the PS2, the games often would even clear 500K.

Would you look at that. The best one sold the best. And it wasn't even multiplat.

How did the PSP ones do? The 2D fighters only (if there were more I don't know about).

I haven't been to Japan in some time, but is DB even that big of a thing there any more?

I think I saw something that said it's still like one of the most watched shows.

The Ultimate Mission 3DS games buck the overall franchise trend, but I'm not sure if the kids buying Heroes would buy a non-Heroes game. I guess Bandai Namco feels the same way. Shame too, since Ultimate Butouden and Attack of the Saiyans are the best Dragon Ball games in a very long time. Now Bandai Namco seems focused on phone games that continually flop.

i secretly hope arc system works is developing the interim game between xenoverse and xenoverse's sequel since i can't see xenoverse 2 in 2016, but it's probably the spike or artdink again

Yeah, as sensationalistic as this may sound now, my prediction of P5 breaking 1 million before FFXV isn't some stretch anymore.

It's not about that trailer, it's simply about how much demand Atlus has generated as the months go by. Even looking at how they release content in front of thousands of fans for a music concert is just strange to think about. They're on fire right now.
