Those look fake to me- Wii went up 10K or so?

Monster Hunter 3 continues to march onward.
Not that surprising, really.
Honestly, more games could see this kind of success on the Wii, if they would, you know, put the effort into them.

People couldn't find a Ps3, so they bought a X360 :p
That and the a decent last few weeks from a games standpoint. Sales should drop but the price drop should help. It is more notable now because both are the same price. PS3 should have a good couple of weeks.

I know I said 55K earlier but I think it will be higher..70-75Kish? That would be about PS3's highest week ever.

Wait... I knew the 360 had been outselling the PS3 in Japan, but by more than 2:1 ? How long has that been true?

I need to visit the Sales threads more often.

Just till recently. The PS3 slim was announced and sales of the original started to decline in anticipation of the new revision.

Ah. That explains it... I thought I had seen prior threads with the 360 outselling the PS3, which seemed rather impressive, all things considered.

SE announcing the release date for the latest installment of their biggest franchise to the consumers who are just waiting with their wallets open is not the same as you showing your mom your report card.
It's not like companies don't play the game of getting bad (or at least startling) news out of the way, either. The announcement of the Wii name shortly before E3 comes to mind.

Hmm, as I noticed was starting to happen last week, DQIX is selling now at double the pace DQVII did (from week 6-8). If it maintains this rate, 5 million is certainly achievable, I think.
Going by the Famitsu numbers Chris1964 posts, DQ VII sold about 400K after week five. Doubling that would still leave it much closer to 4 million than 5 million. There is that discrepancy between Famitsu's 3.89 million sales and the 4.15 milion shipments, though.

Damn, this MH3/DW5 parallel stuff is a gold ore.

Who's the genious who came (fairly early) with this very relevant comparision ? Sensational job.
After Monster Hunter 3's first week I was trying to show that games that sold between 500K and 1 million the first week almost never missed a million, and generated this list. Dynasty Warriors 5 was one of the few counterexamples on the list, but it's turned out to be the closest match. At least within the bounds of the PS2-and-later sales well-represented in Garaph, it's the game with the biggest first week that failed to hit a million--unless MH3 takes the crown.

There were still in-store (i.e. not pouring into the outdoors) lines to buy the PS3 Slim at all the game shops I visited today, just like what happened with MH3's launch. Gundam seemed to be selling well, and so did those PS3 Best re-releases. I'm also curious how many PS3 Slim buyers are gonna pick up RE5 with their new system.

Off to Beijing tomorrow, so I can't check the rest of the week, but the PS3 Slim should enjoy nice sales for awhile.
