Have you played any of the Trails games? Some of them end on cliffhanger, some literally start in the middle of action. 999 does have two sequels, but it's totally competent as a standalone game. Trails in the Sky FC or Cold Steel 1 are not.

Yes, I'm playing them on my GPD Win. Which should be impossible as the last PC game was more than 10 years ago and JP only.

Yes, my point is they started from the beginning, not just throwing in the 3rd out of nowhere.
Right they started with old ports. So presumably Cold Steel 1 for the LOH series for Switch would be a good debut effort.

More recent games like Ys VIII or Tokyo Xanadu would be for those series.

From Okami site (Famitsu/Enterbrain), PSV and Switch first 6 months SW.
Miss latest updated Switch games figures and of course Monster Hunter XX for Switch Ver isn't there yet.

Switch:

Essentially Vita had more games but all of them sold very little, at most 100K.
Only Hot Shot Golf sold markedly more than 100K but nothing to write home (180K).
Switch had less games but what is pushing sales are first-party games that are selling big (Monster Hunter XX may join the 200K+ club).
This answers it. Why did it get ignored?

PS Vita 3rd party support in a comparable time frame is vastly more numerous than the Switch. Showing the lack of forward sight from handheld developers to not back up the 3DS succesor.

REPEATING FROM 2 pages ago:

As a console manufacturer and publisher with a game console in such a high demand that sells everything been made. Wouldn't make sense to enforce bundles of the 1st party software that's not moving as much units?

For example, including digital codes of Snipper Clips or 1 2 Switch at a discounted price. This makes the baseline of the console's sale price higher, extra software sales are been made and the games get more exposure. The potential downside is pissing off buyers and retailers, yet these entities are already disapointed because the system shortages.

So from a busyness perespective, is money been left on the table?

There'd be more examples Nintendo side too though under those conditions. HAL, Camelot, Team Maniax at Atlus, Capcom's Ace Attorney team, Sega Sports Design, Valhalla, D4E, Omiyasoft, etc.

Idea Factory hasn't been exclusive for a decade either, they were still doing 3DS and even DS games in 2012.

HAL, Camelot, Omiyasoft, Sega Sports Design and Valhalla have only been exclusive because they've made Nintendo published software only, even then Valhalla is making a PS4/XBO/PC game right now.

Team Maniax's next game is overwhelmingly likely to be multiplatform(just hasn't been confirmed).

Who's D4E?

I stand corrected on Idea Factory, what 3DS game did they make?

D4 Enterprise. They run Project Egg on PC but also did some work on Wii and Wii U VC as well as Snapdots for Nintendo.

IF's 3DS game was Hakuouki. I think they're pretty likely to support Switch too honestly.

Oh that's quite interesting(about D4E).

One of the guys from IF did express interest in Switch at least.

Wait
So

It is a fact that, with a tali number was, that Vita support has been way higher than the Switch one, and still when someone doubts the or doubt Ted Switch third party support is attacked as if he's crazy?

BTW to reply to your question. Exactly because of this I would be due the few I t wresting third party games more than 1 2 Switch imho

Vita had a good first year of support, and its launch lineup especially was a lot more substantial than Switch.

If you want to use that comparison to support your proposition that Switch 3rd party support isn't trending well, you also have to do the same comparison with PS4 first year..and then where are you?

Developers/Publishers like Falcom and Idea Factory have been PS-exclusive for a decade or so and depending on how much you want to break it down you have developers within publishers like the Yakuza team. Shift(God Eater/Freedom Wars) has only ever made on non-PS game back in 2010(it was Nintendo published too). There are quite a lot of examples.
The fact that you have to split it up to individual teams in order to pump up your examples is telling. I am getting confused, the stream of logic of this discussion feels like its getting tangled. This discussion has gone from PS4 vs. Switch for their respective first year support to Vita vs. Switch for their respective first year support.

At this rate, I expect us to start comparing the Switch to the GameBoy.

I am more confused why it matters exactly which of PS4, Vita or Switch get the most 3rd party support.

If switch at least get some filler games between Nintendos own games it will do fine. So far it seems like more and more 3 rd party games are announced. Indicating to me that long software droughts should not be to common.

I think the two points that get tangled up are Switch's general third party support and Switch's support in regards to absorbing Vita's support/audience.

I'm not pumping up my examples at all, because there's no need to. There's a lot more exclusive support for PS platforms. Like Idea Factory, Nippon Ichi developed a single 3DS game in 2011 but it would be somewhat inaccurate to describe them as a multiplatform developer last generation. How many examples of the reverse is there?

As to the bolded: Okay so we'll see PS4 exclusives, and multiplatform games but will we see Switch exclusives?

Nipon Ichi's probably a bad example for "missing support" or "PS exclusive" since we know from Ani that that's unlikely to remain the case in any capacity, and NISA's gone ham in the west with regards to the Switch.

It's already clear that the Switch will be the dominant platform for the next few years. Has the best-selling platform in a generation ever struggled with third-party support? I would assume no, so this discussion isn't really going anywhere. Comparisons to Vita are ???

Wii didn't get amazing support. But it had a lot more competition than Switch has.

That's actually why I used them as example. NIS technically wasn't PS Exclusive last generation because of that one 3DS game but then it's clearly a different scenario from now when they put their flagship brand front and center. Know what I mean?

EDIT: @Above: 3DS support was far from bad but quite poor considering how much it dominated IMO.

There will always be some exclusives, but personally I would say the Switch getting support and trending in a positive direction is much more important. We'll see what devs reveal for the device going forward given it's success so far.

Nintendo may get as big as they want, but Sony is a multimedia company and they're using that to their advantage in terms of third-party games, too. Games based on certain anime properties will probably always keep being made exclusively for PlayStation platforms. The Sword Art Online anime for example is made by A-1 Pictures (a subsidiary of Aniplex) and produced/financed by Aniplex (a subsidiary of Sony Music Ent.), and its music and theme songs are all property of Sony Music Ent. (a subsidiary of Sony, just like PlayStation). Kind of obvious that Sony wants games based on such series on their own gaming platforms.

Yeah, which is kind of surprising to me tbh. But my point was that series they handle anime and other kinds of media/merchandise for are most likely to skip Nintendo platforms, because Sony most likely has influence on what platforms those games will release on.

Sony music also handled the music for XCX (I think) they dont' usually take advantage of their subsidiaries like that. A lot of Sony Pictures movies got games exclusively on Nintendo, for example (Smurfs and stuff like that)

At least Nintendo did the best from its part to help MHXX.

They preferred to live Japan during Obon without stock in order to ship more next week.
If Nintendo held back shipment from last week, what is expected for Switch hardware sales next week (this week)? They usually ship ~20k when theres "no stock". How many MHXX bundles are being produced? 20k-30k like usual or even more like we saw with MH3G for WiiU? But if its normal, then its about 50k.

How much do people think it would sell?

We don't know how many bundles were made- if I had to guess I would say 30-40K but that is a total guess. But the normal console and Splatoon 2 bundle anecdotally saw big shipments this week as well.

DQXI for PS4 really dropped, no? All the way down to MK8D levels.
Not just PS4, but 3DS too. Heres the last weeks COMG numbers:

[3DS] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - 181
[PS4] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - 71

Bigger drop for 3DS (115 VS 52).

So maybe 80k to 100k?

Yeah, which is kind of surprising to me tbh. But my point was that series they handle anime and other kinds of media/merchandise for are most likely to skip Nintendo platforms, because Sony most likely has influence on what platforms those games will release on.

Sony is a multiplex conglomerate made of multiple subsidiaries each with its own Chairman and CEO responsible for driving profit and growth for their division irrespective of what other divisions are doing.

So what do we say, about 80k for MHXX?

Plus whatever it sold through bundles and digitally?

nnnn I can see people buying the bundle and selling the game, lmfao. It's going to be ugly.

Considering the bump in hardware and the last minute pre-orders surge, probably over 100k. I'd say 115k.

It'll chart but be the lowest of the 3 by a good margin.

I expect this as well, but it's possible more of that market may jump over with more games coming. I'll be doing my part when it comes over to the States. I also imagine the NS version in the west will sell quite well.

Depends on how many bundles. I think 125K range seems about right. Maybe a bit less. Maybe more.

[SWI] Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch ver. - 112

That was quite an increasing, from 30 something to 112 is quite the bump. Are bundles are included ?

Maybe, just maybe Duble Cross for Switch may debut above 150k.

I think it was just due to the number of new releases that pushed it down and made it stick out, that said the 3DS has further to fall so its not surprising it would fall more.

Yeah, so were retailers bundling MHXX to any Switch console including the grey/neon and Splatoon bundle?

Mind you I am pointing out how the MHXX Switch limited edition console doesn't come with the game.

But...it does include the game. You can even see it on the left side of the box.
