surprised Little Battlers Experience beat OoT 3D even though OoT 3D is within my expectation. Thought Little Battlers Experience would bomb harder.

Oh man, by 2k! Hahaha.

Awesome for both Level-5 (I expected lower sales) and Nintendo.

I'm surprised The Little Battlers is as big as it is.
I thought it lost some hype due to its long development, and the fact that the cartoon hasn't started yet.

The anime actually started in March or February.

Damn, where did LBX come from. Gotta give it to Level-5, clusterfuck of epic proportions of a release date as usual, yet it does business (as usual). Guess the 300k shipment is more or less safe and we'll see more LBX coming up. Now I'm kinda anticipating what can Level-5 do with their new Gundam series.

Predictions results a bit later to annoy FFDOG because he won (joking), but its Famitsu deadline FFDOG (discussion from the other thread), I'll take them don't worry, but next time ... (I'll take them because I'm that stupid lol).

Level 5 is extremely good at using Anime and products to market their games, it has worked out very well for them. I know a recent interview the CEO of Ubisoft was talking about the same thing.

This is actually above what I expected for Cardboard Senki (I was actually expecting 140k opening). You can see me in a few of the older Media Create threads expecting big things from it, and slowly backing off that when a bunch of predictions that were in the sub 100k region stared emerging...

I wonder if this will make Imagineer consider a new anime for Medarot 3D's release. Hmm

Neither gamewatch looks very reliable with new releases. It didn't have the double pack and the platinum collection of Steins;Gate. I must compare different sources I guess: gamefaqs, amazon and gamewatch.

Would like to know this too. Sounds Nintendo played this very conservatively, there''ll be no bargain bins overflowing this time.

The game has finally dropped back to a reasonable price point on Amazon JP, so I think itw ill still have some legs if Nintendo keep printing them. Just have to be cautious on not printing too many.

Good opening numbers for Zelda but would've expected more than 40k for 3DS.

Need to cease production of DSi / Lite and have 3DS and XL as the only production units - with the 3DS receiving a price cut.

Even considering that it's bizarre how high it is, I actually almost did a double-take when you consider how poorly Clannad performed when it came out and how it was supposedly the most popular visual novel ever or something similar.
It's also been ported to goddamn everything. People had to stop buying it over and over sometime.

How popular are the handheld Tales in Japan, or just Tales in general?
Handheld rereleases are usually pretty muted but it's hard to say for sure. I think the biggest one to date was Tales of Eternia at like.... 250k? Maybe one of the old GameBoy ones did better, I dunno for sure. Eternia was obviously a much more popular game than Abyss though.

I doubt Tales of the Abyss will do well. It's just a port, and apparently a bad one as famitsu gave it a 31/40 score when it had 36/40 for the PS2 version.

The Tales of The World: Radiant Mythology games on the PSP are the high watermark as far as I can tell.

The Tales games on PSP were all really big.
The biggest one was Radiant Mythology 2, which went over 300k.

The ports weren't as great sellers though (save for Eternia).
I don't think Abyss will do much more than 100k, if that.

Considering all those huge boxes, retailers will be glad that it didn't bomb :D

I am going to get Tales of the Abyss next week. +1 sales! Hopefully it will sell well enough for Namco to consider porting another of the PS2 Tales (Tales of Destiny please!). Or, even better, a brand new entry in the series (that don't suck like most of the ones on DS... except Hearts).

Not quite the 300k shipment we heard then, just barely 200k. Very good news, won't pull a Ninokuni, though I wonder if any new shipments are going to be barebones UMDs or still figure-included big boxes. Amazon is out of stock until 6/27 but that's the listing for the big box (and there isn't any other SKU listed) so it doesn't seem like they are shipping an UMD-only SKU just yet.

Guess its for the best, with the start it had and the sellthrough controlled, having the more appealing figurine-included SKU should work in the game favor. Not bad Level-5, not bad.
