Are you sure that last one's Far Cry?

Good catch. (Removed).

Anyway, I kinda like that flamethrower shot. The rest look horrendous. Maybe we'll see the same improvements we saw in Red Steel put into this one.

That outfit is lolitastic.

Anyway, Wii Sports and this golf game looks really good. I'm loving the environment.

super monkey ball banana blitz... oh how i love thee...

keep the screens coming good AND bad.

i can't get enough of banana blitz though. the art style is perfect for the game, and looks great running on the Wii.

Does Monkey Ball control as well as the GC versions?
it's debatable and it depends on what you mean by 'well'.

the tilt controller works perfectly, but it's arguably harder to control the game that way than a stick. no less fun though and the levels are designed accordingly. IGN said it took them a few hours to master it, but i felt comfortable with it at E3 after about a minute (i wouldn't call it mastered though!) so there you go.

some will greatly prefer, some won't. i'm pretty confidant though, that if you lose it'll be because you couldn't keep your hand steady enough, and not because of some flaw in the controls.

Red Steel

Some beautiful environment pics. Weird to note that some of these are widescreen and some aren't. Too bad, really, especially for something that looks so good.

Thumbnails at the bottom.

This seems like an ill-advised way to walk across a log. Lose your balance and you drop either the flashlight or the knife or both.

LOL at the cobwebs/vines on the life bar. Ridiculous. Game looks absolutely freakin' terrible, but if the voice acting is in Engrish it could also be a fantastic source of comedy.

Pokémon Parentage Conspiracy Theorist
Heatseeker seems cool, at least if it plays as arcade style as it looks.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance confuses my eyes. Why does everything have a sheen to it?

Super Swing Pangya Golf looks like a lot of fun (is that guy golfing with one arm? lol)

Far Cry is up to my standards now, totally playable.

Red Steel keeps looking good.

Monkey Ball looks fun but after the latest game in the series I'm worried.

This is the first one by the original team since Monkey Ball 2.

I doubt any monkeys were harmed in it's development like Monkey Ball Adventure.

Why? Adventures was developed by Traveller's Tales. It's the only Monkey Ball game they've done. Banana Blitz is by Nagoshi and his team.

HOLY SHIT
Frightening indeed... and why is there half a lime lying on the ground?

Though I'd much rather see these screens, as awful as they are, than the annoying bullshots of Red Steel.

What the hell are we supposed to do in Necronesia anyway ? Whack-a-cockroach ?
This is definitely the typical launch game everyone will laugh at and that will be very quickly forgotten in a few month, hopefully...
OR it could as well gain a cult status in a "so bad it's good" fashion, and be remembered and continuously laughed at for years and years...
I think I will take the first option.

Those might be the infamous mini-game-a-thon that the Wii is beginning to be known for, but damn if the shake-your-rump and the balance-on-dog-house-in-whitewater doesn't look like extreme fun. I'd consider renting that.

Awesome Thread. You should put an index at the front where you can find which screenshots, though, without having to look through the whole topic.

If somebody would be willing to sort through this whole thing and pm me with the links and stuff I'd be happy to edit it into the OP. However, I definitely like the way this thread turned out, with an obvious improvements from some developers over time. Also, it's interesting to track how comments have ranged from 'omgbreathless anticipation' to 'this isn't even n64 stuff.'

I think we (the GAF collective) have come to a certain acceptance level for what the Wii is capable of and what potential it may have as well. If this thread serves any purpose, let it be that we hold developers accountable for what they dump on us. When a game as beautiful as Resident Evil 4 was released for the GC (last gen) we have to raise the bar a little, even for marginal hardware upgrades. It will be cool to see how this thread evolves as the second wave of software hits. That's where we should see real improvement and the so-called diminishing returns take effect. If RE4 was the GC topped out, I wonder what will top out the Wii. Hmmm... :)

Anyway, I'll keep posting them as they come along.

Actually, I wonder if nintendo will slowly add content to the Mii library. That would be pretty cool actually. Hats, different clothes etc.

...or different unlockables that you only get from certain games (say...a mario hat when you beat SMG?, or a Samus helmet when you beat MP3, etc)...
