So with the 4th year of the xbox 360 starting, some agreed it was time to get the new thread started! Below are recap links to slideshows of previous years, including xbla, retail and xbox originals! If you wish to see the thread in full glory simply visit the backbone forum I designed it on here, but please keep post and such on gaf :)

Year of 2005

The launch year of the 360, started out with a bang but was obviously short lived considering it only had a bit over a month to do it!

Year of 2006

The followup launch year, this is where the lineup started to take it's hold on diversity, but it was a more anemic year than the following ones.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v354/goldenpp72/360 2006/?action=view&current=d4dd9ae6.pbw

Year of 2007

This year was a huge year for 360, launching its flagship title halo 3 along with dozens of other big titles, but even this year might pale in comparison to the upcoming year.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v354/goldenpp72/360 2007/?action=view&current=3ac57166.pbw

Year of 2008

The previous year, many consider the strongest year for the console yet though i'd say it's debatable with 2007.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v354/goldenpp72/2008 edits/?action=view&current=1aa0af77.pbw

Year of 2009

A brand new year in what seems to be the best year in America ever.. Well not really, but i'm sure plenty of great titles will release to keep our minds off that, including..

Xbox Live Arcade was originally started with the xbox 1, but met with barely any kind of fanfare, once integrated into the 360 (from launch) it became a huge success! Here are some games to look out for, starting with a recap on prior years and then on to 09!

Year of 2005

This was actually quite an impressive start for xbla, giving quite a bit of playtime for the initial launch period.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v354/goldenpp72/360 exclusives/?action=view&current=5172b852.pbw

Year of 2006

This was a pretty bad year for xbla fans, while the service yielded a good amount of games, it was so slow and sparse between releases that fans grew restless, until xbla Wednesdays came about to regulate release schedules.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v354/goldenpp72/360 2006/?action=view&current=29109d27.pbw

Year of 2007

This is the year xbla really came into its own with tons of original content, a regulation of release dates and much more desirable retro ports.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v354/goldenpp72/360 2007/?action=view&current=0a593c98.pbw

Year of 2008

Then we move on to our previous year, which has been rather fantastic and hasn't slowed down yet. Some may dwell on a good portion of the 'non gamer' stuff released, but plenty has been released for all sides.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v354/goldenpp72/2008 edits/?action=view&current=9680507c.pbw

Year of 2009

Our current year, very little has been announced so far but I will update as it comes.

Xbox originals was launched in 2007 and basically allows users to download xbox 1 titles directly to their 360s, only games with backwards compatibility can work however and no upgrades are available. Any flaws currently in the backwards compatibility list will apply to these as well, though sometimes performance is increased due to being directly on the harddrive.

Year of 2007

Year of 2008

The followup year to the service, not a whole lot came out unfortunately.

Now they just need to announce some more games.

Is that image from Mass Effect 2 or the first one?

Edit: There was blood red bold text? Somehow I didn't see it, sorry. Delete if possible.

Edit: Unfortunately the poster above can't read blood red bold text, if a mod could replace his post with my couple that would be wonderful :p

Yeah I had a lot of trouble finding content this early but, threads like this are dynamic for the whole year and it's easier to do as the year goes rather than in one huge shot.

That said it still took a long time, as people find out about more games and post them i'll add them, ideally with all the appropriate info so I dont have to look around too much. Can't wait for e3 as i'm sure we will find out much more :)

Will get:
Forza 3
Street Fighter IV
Resident Evil 5
Alan Wake
Bayonetta
Banjo Tooie

Might get:
Bioshock 2
Ninja Blade
Bionic Commando
Star Ocean 4
Final Fantasy XIII
HALO 3: ODST

With the upcoming Wii and DS games and this list I'll be busy all year, there's obviously some announcements left(Perfect Dark 2 BELIEVE!).

You should mark what games are and aren't exclusive I think.

Yeah im really hoping perfect dark something is done this year, either a sequel or a reboot to erase PDZ (I liked pdz just the theme and setting sucked)

I will as I did in the last topic, I just have to be careful as that caused a mod to throw a shit fit when I marked things a certain way, lol.

A suggestion, put the exclusives first and make their text red like the Ps3 version of this thread.

I'll take that into consideration but i'd rather not try to emulate other peoples threads, ive been doing these for years :p Also since it is a thread for 360 enthusiast it shouldn't really matter if it's exclusive or not, but i'll think about it if I can organize the time.

Star Ocean IV
Final Fantasy XIII (lol)
Bioshock 2
Mirror's Edge Time Trials Pack
Banjo-Tooie

Those are my must-buys. Anything else is probably after price drop + insane gaf hype.

Edit: Bioshock is Q4 2009 last I heard.

There must be many more announced XBLA games that are coming out in 2009, they really cut back on the number of XBLA games post-Summer of Arcade.

I'm with you. I don't see the point in it. It's about 360 games. What relevance is their exclusivity?

I don't know what's going on but somebody needs to start putting some 2D shooters out already.

Considering the amount of shit Atlus, Xseed, and Aksys have published lately a handful of fantastic 2D shooters should be no problem.

Also I'm praying that Battle Circuit hits XBLA this year. Granted all there is to go is an ESRB listing which as you know accounts for jackshit but dammit it makes so much sense for Capcom to put it out.

2009 for 360 seems solid but not spectacular for me. For multiplatform games I choose PC versions for pricing reasons (they're twice as cheap in my country...) and for exclusives there doesn't seem much that could attract me other than Halo 3 ODST, which I hope will be my GOTY.
XBLA will probably enjoy another year of great releases though. I also hope Mass Effect 2 and HL2 Ep.3 will see daylight this year.
