The heart of the game.

Learn everything from basic driving skills to advanced racing techniques.

In A-Spec mode, you take control of your destiny as you become a pro driver moving up the ranks. Hone your driving skills and take on a wealth of racing events and challenges.

In B-Spec mode, you become the director of a racing team. You will not be driving yourself, but instead you will train an AI (Artificial Intelligence) driver, nurturing his skills and pushing him to the limits. Aiming for victory by giving directions during races, just like a real team director.

The AI drivers you develop in B-Spec mode have an ability gauge, condition status, and personality type. These factors will change as they compete in races under your guidance. Depending on the condition of the driver, they may not always listen to your directions as the team director. It's your job to train and develop your driver to perform and win races.

The progression of races and careers are mostly the same in both A-Spec and B-Spec, and both feature the same ending. Choose one way to play, or master and complete both modes to experience life as a driver from both behind the wheel and as a team director.

In Gran Turismo 5, every player has his or her very own private racing lobby online called "My Lounge."
Only people on your PlayStation®Network Friends list can enter.

In My Lounge, players can pick the track of their choice, set up custom race regulations, and hold private custom racing events with their friends. People in the lounge can even do free runs around the track before the race begins.

Up to 16 players can race together, up to 32 can be in a single lobby.
Your very own message board where you and your friends can post.
Check your friends' progress.
Send cars and upgrade parts to friends.
Share your best pictures from Photo Mode.
Upload video to YouTube.

If you're not quite up to racing on one particular day, or if you just want to watch how a really skilled player race live, the Spectator mode is the perfect solution. You can watch other users driving live in real-time, as they race, adding a new community-focused dimension to Gran Turismo 5s expanding online feature set.

Compete in B-Spec mode by selecting an AI driver and a car of your own to pit against a friend's AI driver and car. Your friends must set their drivers to "public" for you to race against them.

This also means that in turn, any AI drivers that you set to be public may be called out to race by friends from your friends list. When this happens, your AI drivers will participate in your friends' remote races even without your knowledge.

You can watch the races that you host in Remote Races, but you will not be able to give your drivers any direction as a race director like you can in the standard B-spec mode. This is to keep the races with your friends' online AI drivers fair, as they won't be there to coach their drivers.

You can now play Gran Turismo anywhere. On your computer, smartphone, iPad, etc.

On the official website you will soon find a section where you will be able to check statistics, progress, friends, but most importantly, play B-Spec races using live timing.

Performance Damage

Performance damage affects how the car performs based on calculating the physical effects of collisions and damage on various parameters. It affects vehicle stability and control, depending on the amount of damage taken.

Dirt, Scratches, and Dents

This is damage that can be visually seen, and involves the vehicle collecting dirt, scratches and dents.

Dislodging and Deformation of Body Panels (premium cars only)

This third level of damage causes body panels to come loose or to deform from their original shapes.

Save some credits by buying used. The lineup changes depending on when you visit, so keep coming back to discover rare finds.

Maintenance and basic tuning.

Car Wash

Have you car washed to a sparkling sheen using special soft shampoo with a waterproof coating that won't scratch your paintwork. A wheel wash and tire wax is also included.

Oil Change

Using high-performance engine oil with excellent lubricating and cooling capabilities that reduces friction, thereby reducing power loss.

Paint Body *

Personalise your car by painting the body a colour of your choice.

Paint Wheels *

Personalise your wheels by painting them any colour you choose.

Change Wheels (premium cars only)

Purchase new wheels or change your car's existing set. Lightweight alloy wheels improve driving performance, as well as greatly enhancing the look of your car.

Aero Parts

Purchase and exchange aerodynamic parts, which help to generate downforce, making your car more stable at high speeds.

Overhaul Engine

Rebuild an engine that has been worn down due to extended driving, in order to restore it to its full potential.

Restore Body Rigidity

Repairs damage caused to the car body during extended circuit driving, thereby restoring its original rigidity.

Racing Modifications (some cars)

Perform various modifications to make your car race-ready. Once these modifications have been performed, they cannot be undone.

* Painting requires paint. You can only paint in a color you already have in your garage. For example acquiring a car in Racing Green also gives you the Racing Green color to paint cars and wheels.

Body/Chassis

Tuning options to increase your car body's rigidity and reduce its overal weight.

Check the official car list. All premium cars (P) can be bought new from the Dealership. Standard cars (S) can only be bought used. The selection of used cars changes all the time.

Check the official car list and look for "RM". Simply buy the non-RM model and have it modified at GT Auto.

If you're new to Gran Turismo, start by earning a License and do some Special Events. That way, you'll earn lots of money and even free cars to get you started in the actual race events.

Keep coming back to the Licenses and Special Events, as you'll unlock more.
And don't forget B-spec, where you can play team director.
