I dont think that its as easy as it sounds, says Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii. At the current stage, there are no talks about making Dragon Quest XI for smartphones. I believe that theres still plenty left to overcome before we release a proper sequel for smartphones.

Thats quite the bold statement, responds Andou. On the other hand, my main battlefield lies within making games for smartphones, so a part of me tells myself smartphones are game consoles, too while I work. However, going back to what you just said, I clearly understand what you mean.

Smartphones are smartphones, and theyre not game consoles, states Horii in response to Andou. I dont think theyll be replacing game consoles, but rather, I believe its a matter of offering something to those who only have smartphones.

DQXI will be tablet only, DQXII will be smartphones.

Nice try. DQXI is tablet. DQXI-2 is smartphones. DQX-3 Slime's Back is Smart TV's.

Hopefully we see DQXI on 3DS/Vita this year.

More than likely going to 3DS but I'd still love to see it on PS4, cel-shaded and a world even better than DQ VIII's.

If I had to guess, DQXI will probably be on the 3DS.

The game is going to be on 3DS regardless of any partnership. Everyone might as well get used to it. Actually the only chance for HD version is if Nintendo payed for a Wii U version anyway.

Means nothing. Bravely Default is out (or coming out in NA). Drakengard 3 is coming. DQ IX sold very well over here. If DQ XI is on the 3DS you can bet Nintendo will help getting it out here.
