Dark Souls 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year in an enhanced version of the game called Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, Namco Bandai and From Software announced today. The re-release of Dark Souls 2 will come with the game's three downloadable add-ons and new enhancements.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Dark Souls 2 feature updated graphics as well as new game content, including "an expanded story featuring additional in-game events and NPC character along with new deadlier enemies and gameplay improvements." Those improvements will also be available for the PC release of Scholar of the First Sin, which takes advantage of DirectX 11 for Windows.

For existing PS3/360/PC owners:
Dark Souls 2's new game content, augmented item descriptions and gameplay improvements, which From Software is calling version 1.1.0 of the title, are also coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and the DirectX 9 version of the Windows PC game. Players of those versions will get the 1.1.0 update free of charge. The Scholar of the First Sin re-release will also be available for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Mod Abuse:
Okay we have an official super clear comparison between all the versions of this re-release, including a comparison with what will be in the 1.10 Patch for last-gen owners.

Awesome, the weakest of the Souls games but still very fun and some may have missed out.

Also hoping the old lighting engine shows up.

never left the stone age
New enhancements? Lighting restored? Free patch for PC tools users, right?

Right?

Edit: OMG. DX11 build? And DLC4 IS an actual thing!

Dark Souls 2 was lackluster... semi-broken and fairly bland in encounter design.

No thank you... and already have it on PC.

guess it's going to be a while before they reveal dark souls 3 then since they're going to be working on this after bloodborne

Hope they have a 30/60 fps switch for console brethren (if it doesn't run native 1080/60 fps with enhancements), they need to experience souls in 60 fps.

If you double dip here, you're part of the problem.

I bought it on PC already once, and they failed to explain themselves for dumbing things down a couple weeks before launch.. Well now we know why.

It's okay though. I didn't buy their planned DLC either.

This was so obvious before the game even launched that I never bought any dlc waiting for it.

day one

fuck yeah!
held off buying DSII because I knew it would come to PS4. Now just waiting for South Park to make the move and all my patience will be validated.
