Skullgirls |OT| New age of Heroines

There is no better way to hate a game than to test it, let me assure you.

You underestimate just how crazy this fanbase is. I thought you'd never make that mistake again after the IGG campaign.

Nope. Testing a game is the surest way to kill your love for it. Keep in mind, testing a game is very VERY different from playing it. Imagine finding a bug, then being the assigned to reproduce it under different circumstances for days on end. This could mean playing the same 30 seconds of a game for up to 8 hours a day.

This is why good QA testers are worth their weight in platinum; there's nothing worse that dealing with people who think being in QA just means getting paid to play games.

EDIT: Damn it, typed too slow. What they said...

No... he's right. It's the definition of soul-crushing work.
I've heard Mike talk about how exhaustive a process it is.
Mike explained in a stream what is the job of a tester. That sounded horrible.
Yep

I just want to make something clear. Crazy people are crazy people. There might be a few willing to put with it, but that doesn't mean they'd be any better at this an an actual tester who does this for a living. I don't want this to start some sort of dozen post argument.

Understood. It was just a matter of all of us posting at more or less the same time. Also, having overseen QA for a number of games, any mention of the process tends to set off horrible, horrible flashbacks...

Now, back to impatiently tapping our watches in anticipation of the console release. (^_^)d

Glad we came to an understanding. It was just a joke I went with initially (because we are crazy. trust me, I spend a lot of time in the IRC). Anyways... I just realized how many spelling errors I made. Busy gaf days are the worst.

Oh well, I can just continue to enjoy the PC version. Having gaf open next to Skullgirls is not good for my health or my writing.

Lab Zero IGG Update Details Plans For Completion Of DLC

After a successful crowdfunding campaign, successful Japan release and an arcade port on the way, there is still no one interested in investing. How?
Would it even be a good time? The staff will be busy with the DLC characters for another year at this rate.

What I'm worried about is morale after all this and what kind of deal would be struck. I don't want to see another Skullgirls if these guys aren't even being paid per sale of the game.

Sooner the better.

Ravidrath just needs to suck it up and start wearing more revealing clothing when meeting with potential investors. Play to his obvious sexual strengths.

It's highly unlikely any game they make would result in them seeing money from the sales. They aren't that indie, unfortunately.

I heard his nipples glow when he strips...

KLK joke, please don't hurt me Ravidrath ;_;

Sucks to hear about the stress the team is under. Skullgirls Encore is a great game - it'll be even greater with the IGG content when it is all done. Hopefully it will all work out in the end.

An IGG probably would not work out well again either. I think Autumn would need to get some serious cash to do it, or sell the series to a larger publisher, or something else equally major needs to happen.

Well at least it will come out soon. Was kinda worried since news before said it would be out in Jan 2014.

Yeah, unfortunately we underestimated how long this process would take.

The big issue we've had is that the last time this build went through a full testing battery was in September, and a number of things have changed since then. Since we blew our testing monies on that round, not expecting the Konami problems, we've had to test ourselves for this submission, and missed a few bugs.

Red Q Big Band looks impressive. I haven't played the game in a while, but do get excited when I see that soon we will be able to play new characters on consoles. Can't wait for Eliza and Beowulf to enter the ring. Here's hoping the Lab Zero guys have some smoother sailing ahead.

So, yeah... The 11th.

That's for the U.S. only. Hoping EU will be the following week, but no guarantees.

And unfotunately we're not even submitted for XBLA yet - there was some political wrangling over how this patch would work, and it's just now been resolved. So we should be able to submit early next week, now.

What about 360? I thought the last update said 360 would be first if anything.

No, other way around.

360 was always expected to take longer because there are more companies involved in the transition. The actual work involved will be less complicated for us, though.

This is getting me annoyed. Remember the Skullgirls TF2 promos that got really high workshop votes but never got in? Valve just let a bunch of Bioshock Infinite promos in without any community voting, and they're just horrible.

Right. You'll just need to visit the store page and download it.

Actually, no - found out today that this isn't how it'll work.

Everyone that purchased the original version will receive an XMB message containing a voucher for a free copy of Skullgirls Encore. Clicking the link will redeem the voucher and take them to the Skullgirls Encore store page to download it.

This is actually a lot better than the behind-the-scenes entitlement, so we're really appreciative of Sony setting this up for us.

Wow, that is flat-out amazing. I wish you could get something like that done on 360--that's an amazing gesture from Sony.

Ah, okay! It's great that they did that.

...Someone willing to make a post over in the other forum, BTW?

Summaries of the XMB stuff, link to the patch notes and trailer would be super awesome.
