Phil Spencer: Still have flagship games in development; "new IP critical"

That's good. More new games the better, for when I buy one later down the line (Post large price drop and Kinect'less SKU).

No and Yes.

Anyway, Phil's got a good sense of humour and seems like a top bloke. But he still has a lot to prove, the XBO first party line-up so far has been diverse but the games themselves have no lived up to expectations.

I am quite enjoying Forza 5 and Ryse was pretty good, not as bad as it was made out to be. Max: Curse of Brotherhood was another great game.

Speaking of Fighter Within, I honestly forgot that was even a thing, lol...not sure why they are still riding out the $60 price tag on this thing.

Regardless of whether you count it or not, the only thing I feel they missed at launch was a game to justify the kinect. Other than that it was a diverse lineup of games people quite liked aside from CD and lococycle etc.

Well they were intending for Kinect Sports Rivals to come out but obviously a didn't. I feel it did hurt them too, but they did KSR: Preseason so everyone could try it and I thought it was pretty good.

huh didn't realize rivals was targeting launch. That would explain that I suppose

Fusion Frenzy was a great game, I would buy it in a heart beat.

After having some friends over last night, the lack of local multiplayer games nowadays has become even more obvious

First tragedy, then farce.
I'd like to see a Midtown Madness game that is online only.

Midtown Madness Tag Mode is the single most fun online game I have ever in my life played. I would literally stay up all night playing it without even realizing what had happened.

A bunch of the Midtown Madness guys went onto form turn10, like Dan Greenawalt. Make it happen Dan.

Midtown Madness, Monstertruck Madness and Motocross Madness were all fantastic games - played them all on my PC back then. Nostalgia!

Live up to what expectations? Have there been any Xbox One games people had high expectations for prior to the launch that I'm not aware of? I'd say quite the opposite is true (Dead Rising 3 and Killer Instinct in particular beat the expectations, while games like FM5, Zoo Tycoon, Powerstar Golf and a bunch of once-Kinect last gen up-ports at least met them), and pretty much everything turned out quite in line with expectations people usually have for launch titles, if not better.

Real Banjo and Conker please.

I would put a large effort on the top selling MS published Xbox games as DD on the X1...

Would love to see the classics in 1080p!

MS should invest in a Xbox character exclusive fighting game. Get their internal KI team and a bunch of former Smash developers on it. It would be a good platform to reintroduce old characters like Conker, Joanna Dark, the Battletoads, etc. to new fans. Then if the game is successful, MS might consider taking chances on the other classic Rare IPs like they did with KI. At the very least they should add Master Chief or the Arbiter as characters in the 2nd season of KI.

Would love a new Banjo. I like N&B and it would be cool to see them try it again but this time with more care taken to each game world to require a balance of on-foot platforming and vehicles. I still think Showdown Town was a lot of fun, it opened up beautifully and rewarded exploration, and I just don't understand why they didn't use the same design philosophy of it in every world.

Funny, someone suggested the same thing to Spencer on Twitter today. He responded that other than SSB he hasn't seen a game that lived up to the hype of the characters.

Then someone followed up that they should just put Master Chief and Marcus Fenix in an upcoming season of Killer Instinct. He said that was a good idea and copied Ken Lobb on the tweet. I think MC has been in the plan for a long time. When Thunder was revealed people asked DH why they dropped "Chief" from his name and they responded that it was due to other plans, with a sly grin.

He needs to steal Sakurai away from Sora/Nintendo if he wants a game that lives up to the hype.

Get Sakurai or Platinum to do it. Just don't do what Sony did and try to copy Smash. I could see it being an open world beat em up like Anarchy Reigns.

Maybe with a roster like this? Imagine Banjo in a vehicle mech taking on a titan from Titanfall.

I know I saw that and right after I tweeted the exact same thing to him yesterday! I mean how crazy would it be to see Master Chief face off against Mumbo Jumbo. Seriously. It needs to be a real thing. Hire the Project M guys and call it Xbox Tournament Champions. We could call it XTC (ecstasy) for short.

Dude, I've been working on an imaginary roster for like a week now. You and I are of the same mind. Add Zitz, Minecraft Steve, the knights from Castle Crashers, and the Stig from Top Gear (Forza) and we're golden.

That looks like Bald Space Marines: The Fighting Game.

from his comment i have feeling that he's gonna lock No Man's Sky as an Xbox one exclusive.

Shahid commented on NMS weeks before it even got unveiled.

I personally wouldn't read too much into tweets that can have different interpretations depending on the person. Shuhei's good at this, where he answers 'no' to every question asked about 'new stuff reveal!?'
