I think it kinda illustrates even though it looks like Marty is falling apart and Rust isn't. Rust's life is just a facade, it's like a thin layer of ice, the fact that he was so comfortable going undercover and living that "Outlaw Life" again kinda indicates that both men are falling apart, just in different ways.

Goggins would be a great choice for one of the leads in S2. Dude is due for a star turn.

The dichotomy between Rust and Marty temperaments is one of the best aspects of this show to me. Rust is cool as a cucumber, is mostly apathetic about anything that doesn't involve his obsession with his work/Crash. I find it interesting that he's always checking his pulse, whether its to keep himself in check or to see if he's alive....I don't know but I think it's an interesting little nuance. Marty on the other hand has a horrible temperament and has a tendency to hyperventilate when he's pissed. Both guys have vices they abuse, but Rust is pretty zen like while Marty isn't above committing a crime of passion.

What about Adrian Grenier? Guy from entourage, he must be good with the HBO people. I think he might make a good young detective. Plus draw in more females.

Don't know if anyone brought this up before ... not browsing 60 pages LOL. But I'm rewatching the show and caught this in episode 2 when they visit the victim's mother. WTF is going on in this picture? Some bizarre looking shit to me. Think it's going to turn out that Dora Lang was meant to end up a sacrifice from birth or something?

Very cool find!

If you guys wanna start to know more about that, hit this page and watch the video. The part about that starts at 4:15, but i suggest to watch the whole thing of course. That mardi gras ritual is one of the most beautiful things i've seen in my life.

Anyone else find the Charlie Lange interview pretty cringe worthy? He basically just told them everything they wanted to hear, like just happening to mention the spiral shape tattoo Ledoux has. It just felt like a convenient info dump.

Rust + anyone in the box = victory for the forces of justice/unjustice (depending how you look at it). The dude is shown to be a bit of a coward both times we saw him anyway so he was ready to spill his guts at the first mention of parole.

I'm trying to think of something Rust-esque to say about the cowardly and narcissistic nature of man, but whatever.

Reminds me off the scene where Martin walks into his kids playing with dolls.
A naked Barbie doll lying in the middle, five man standing around.
Same tableau for me, but I do not know why it is connected.

Posted this earlier:

I can't find it now, but there was some Imgur gallery/collection that pointed out details/coincidences in the show so far. One of them is the prevalence of a single female surrounded by five males.

This picture, Marty's kid's recreation of a sex act (or car crash, whichever), and the five black men hanging on the porch with the one white woman who knew the victim.

Probably nothing, but I did think it was a little interesting.

no, I'm talking more about how convenient it was from a writers perspective, not within the universe. Like the writers used it as an opportunity to have a single character just unload this shit. What reason did he have to bring up a spiral tattoo? Or the "devil worship" in the woods? It all just fit too well. Maybe that stuff leaked to the press or is well known and he was just telling them what they want to hear. That would make sense.

Maybe I'm nitpicking

If he doesn't say it, what other organic way is there to find out that Reggie Ladoux has a spiral tattoo and that there's some kinda devil worship going on? I guess if they find Reggie, they'll see he has a spiral tattoo, and then he can talk about devil worship, but it's the same result.

At least this way, the audience has some idea of how much creepier this can get early on.

Wow, did not know the last one.
I really have to watch True Detective more being less stoned so I might get the small hints^^
So far the show is really good, perfectly closing the gap between Rick and Morty episodes.
Already convinced 5 friends for the show, what is your count Gaf ?

Three so far!

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I've said it before, I'll say it again: Charlize Theron as one of the leads.

The King in Yellow could look like a Mardi Gras costume maybe??

The King in yellow is a reference to a book of short stories: -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_King_in_Yellow

Basically the 'King in Yellow' is a notorious play that gets mentioned in each story and the implication is that reading it will drive you mad: -

Along the shore the cloud waves break,
The twin suns sink behind the lake,
The shadows lengthen
In Carcosa.

It went south when Ginger's crew botched the stash house raid. Rust had no other choice than to extract himself and Ginger out of the projects and will probably have to use force to get him to spill where Ledoux is.

Yeah it's going to be interesting to see how all of that plays out given Cohle has blown his cover. Something tells me Ginger isn't walking around in 2012.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Charlize Theron as one of the leads.

I could see that.

Clive Owen?

Owen's definitely dropped of the radar some (famously eschewing Bond). A TV revival might be in order, but not I'm sure if he is great in the accent department.

Personally I'd like to see Idris Alba back doing US TV. Dude has presence.

I don't think truer words have been spoken in this thread.

Indeed. I like Goggins, but the dude has a singular look to him with the pearly pearly whites and the electric hair.

I could see him playing the character of 'a strange man in a strange land'. So, let him retain his accent and be considered an outsider investigating a mystery in America.

That stuff about Carcosa and the King in Yellow is so creepy.
