Titanfall: 15 maps at launch (?), perk lists, game modes, Map Photos, ahoy!

i dont understand, if its good why would they show it?
because its good and its reassurance.
especially when the game is heavily (nearly 100%) marketed towards the xbone.

Exactly they want people to see it as a xbone game. If the 360 version looked pretty close to the bone version then people aren't going to be anxious to make the next gen leap for it, probably why it's also releasing later. I've also heard people saying if it looks good on the 360 they'll get that version over the bone one because of their friends being there. People would also make a big deal about the bone version being bad if the 360 version looked really good.

I might just be speaking nonsense, but I have hope for it.

At the current time of writing I believe these are the correct weapons that you can pick in the lobby menu. I haven't taken screen shots of the weapons in the beta currently.
You may notice that the titan shotgun isn't mentioned. Perhaps that is only available via a burncard.

You answered your own question. They want people buying Xbones for this game. If they show footage before launch of the 360 version looking decent nobody is going to jump to the bone.

I don't care because I'm on pc, but that's more than likely the reason (or part of it at very least).

not a crazy amount of weapons =/ thats not an issue as when you have a large amount of infantry weapons in a game, a ton of them end up being filler anyway, i just enjoy variety, even if its a bit unreasonable.

"chargerifle" has me excited.

Same. That's a very, very limited amount of weaponry in the game. It's 2014, this is a hyped title, it should have a greater selection of weaponry being an online only game. Especially a full priced one at that.

ah, theres the 6 shooter.
i dont really see a reason for it as of now, since it doesnt seem like it can be spammed as well as the fact it has some lackluster damage for a .44 esque pistol.
seems to be just a long range alternative, something i wont reall need as i will primarily be using ARs/

Unlimited boost though?@!?

yeah, the stryder core ability is marathon, giving it unlimited boost.

its god tier, i got one at the start of the match and just had a 20-0 flat game right off the bat, was so fast to finish the game that i was sad =/

you can outmaneuver anything.

Might be nice paired with a smart pistol.

EDIT: Primary weapon. Shit.

I just noticed that when you choose a weapon it says primary weapon on the left. It does that for all weapons (bug with beta?).

Decent amount of guns. I don't think every games needs 10 guns for every class of weapons. That revolver looks great.

Re: Value debate

It is totally understandable that some might not find enough value in Titanfall. Each consumer is different, one sees absolute value in the longevity of the multiplayer portion, some see value in a good singeplayer experience and others value both modes. From outside looking in, Titanfall seems very barebones and it is hard to see enough justification for the price tag. However, when you strip down a lot of other games to their core barebones―so without things overlapping content, DLC and big updates―you would have a lot of problem trying to justify their entry price. Even those with the perception of a lot of content are often padded stuff, that make it seem more then it really is. But those games did get their fair share, because of aspects like gameplay, sandbox, maps and more. In the end, you played a game that sometimes lacked content, but made up by doing everything else or one specific aspect just about right.

I know that sounds like lowering standards and it is to some extent. Content is, for most part, always king. That does not mean that all content is king though, one well designed map is always better than ten mediocre maps. A huge amount of maps sounds great as a bulletin point , but in the end it adds very little to the overall value if most of them are forgettable. It is hard to qualify whether the maps are good, because most of them have not been sampled. And a great maps emerge after they have been played on for at least a month or even months. So it is difficult to argue that all the maps will be great and add substantial value to Titanfall. The only thing it has got going for it is that CoD4 and MW2 map makers are behind it—which could mean a lot for certain people and for others it is a big meh.

For most people who have played online shooters, the value proposition might be less of an issue. You might be shocked that I play the Halo games and I adore both the single-and multiplayer portion of those games, but I have spent a huge amount of my time in multiplayer. Most of those games had a good amount of maps, but I only liked some of them. So in theory, there was just not enough content to me justifying to buy if I had know that beforehand. However I’ve spend countless hours playing those games and enjoying it immensely because it was so much fun, and in the end I got my monies worth and then some. I took that plunge and accepted for what it was. In the end I had no regrets. There are enough gamers that take the plunge and find enough value to justify their purchase.

It is harder to take the plunge when other more familiar games are doing more and players are more accustom to the value proposition given by them. If you look at Titanfall to replace your regular go-to game(s) or even to add it to your rotation, you’re right to expect a lot from the package. A lot of it is unproven and it is hard to argue about a concrete selling points besides “it is fun”. You could argue that supporting a new team and new IP, but that sounds like a very corporate thing to say and has less to do with the actual game. On the other hand, I do like “fun” and I do want to support Respawn (Oh, Abbie marry me).

It is a complex issue.
To me the value conversation for MP games couldn't be simpler: how many hours of enjoyment will I get out of the content presented, and how much will I want to play it?

In this Beta, on 2 maps, playing only one of the game types, with only a handful of classes and a single Titan...I have clocked in 10 hours of time. And do you know what I'm thinking about right now? Clocking in more time on those two maps. Trying out some of the other modes. Working on my wall running skills. Paying better attention to my Titan shields in big engagements. Re-watching some of the highlight clips of epic shit I saved along the way.

It's pretty clear to me that I'm going to get a game that will give me much more than 95% of my $60 game investments have given me. 200-300 hours seems like a realistic ballpark.

I guess a man has to decide how many hours of honest-to-God fun does a MP game have to be able to offer in order to be worth the price of admission. If it's not fun for you it's not worth $5, you know? But if it is...well, go from there.

I really really REALLY like the gameplay, but the amount of content revealed so far for a 60$ multiplayer only game is pretty underwhelming. I will still get it since it looks like it will be 20$ cheaper where I live, but I can understand people not being fully satisfied with what is already known.

Pretty much my personal view too, but I can totally understand why somebody would think that Titanfall has too little content to justify the price tag.

I like that they're restricting the number of guns/ordinance/abilities to bare essentials that feel balanced against each other.

I always savour that early point in a good FPS franchise where all the equipment is balanced before it descends into a bloated clusterfuck of unbalanced shite.

i dont buy many games due to the fact i cant afford every game i want =p so i just seperate my purchases by month, i only buy what i REALLY want in a given month and everything im "meh" on, will be a price drop purchase if i buy it at all.

titanfall was always a REALLY want for me.
march is a big month, i usually end up with 2 titles per month when theres something im interested in, most of the time its 1-0 however when im "meh" on everything, which is mosty of the time, or has been for the last few years.

however, this year im interested in a TON of titles as opposed to the last few year, so im really planning everything out.

march is infamous/titanfall/south park

thats probably my biggest single month of the year (and last year), until they announce the release dates for other titles im interested in, as well as if multiple titles i REALLY want are in the same month, which past march, there arent many confirmed release dates at all.

off the top of my head i want
destiny
dragon age
the 3 march games
tales of xillia 2

there are a ton more im forgetting, not including the unanounced games that are rumored, such as halo 2 anniversary and the new battlefield by visceral.

ahhhhh its the halo charge rifle.
now im meh on it=/ pretty niche, unless it does an assload of damage to titans.
if i was using this, thats a situation where i would also be using the wingman pistol.

I keep forgetting about the 360 version lol. I'll just get that until E3 to see if theres a price drop.

Is Direct 2 Play legit?

I decided not to go for it. They seem to open up boxed copies and email you jpg of the cd keys for games. They take 25% off your preorder price if you try to cancel and get a refund(you can only cancel if its more than 48 hours before you receive your key). Think I'll hold out for a gmg 25% code or just go with the 20% gamefly one to be safe

They could be legit (I have no idea) but decided not to risk my info for a few bucks
