The Order: 1886 main characters run over 100K polys each

Suckerpunch? Ready At Dawn is the developer.
It's a response to the previous post that we're not getting an open London because of the team size.
We're getting an open Seattle with a similar team size, thus voiding that argument.

It's that two different developers want to achieve different things and thus are doing different things.

This is what i'm talking about, everything looks ace including the hair and the beard but when you look at the eyes it kinda just falls apart because the models look so good. The more realistic the graphics get, the easier it will be to find imperfections look here:

I mean it looks amazing still.. but look at these:

The eyes in Ryse/ the goblin tech look near perfect however the character models can't match the detail of the order characters. What is their secret in doing the eyes? Because that's the only visual thing the order needs to nail.

Ryse wasn't like this until they had the drowngrade+ shader boost look:

What does 'doing a Rachel' mean?

Video games modeling elements of female character models which were never intended to be seen is so creepy to me, imagining some dude spending hours slaving away at a pudendal cleft, freaky shit.
Not weird if you are French :p

The exact number is 120 just check.

My point still stands though. :)

They have good eye shaders. The human faces in the sorcerer demo also look better than the order characters (look at the ears). The Order has the most detailed bodies though, but that's simply because they chose to focus on that. It's not really a secret, just talent and a set of trade-offs.

I know that, just saying small devs can do amazing things.

It depends on what the devs want to do.

Without the encumbrance of multiple management tiers and endless meetings smaller team often do more. IIRC Gore-text split their product groups up when they hit 150 (the supposed limit for number of individuals any one person can hold in mind with life details & form a bind).

Yeah modeling the eyes has always been a black art of sorts. They did manage to nail it in Ryse. But the shots you posted, aren't they pre-rendered cutscenes? Haven't played the game so I don't know if they are from gameplay

Ohhhhhh sorry... my mistake.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
It's amazing to me how adding some fur makes that animation 1000x more convincing... that's why I'm loving the cloth physics in this game. Makes the animation look so much better by default.

there are a few cutscenes in the game that are very much real time, including the one that image is from.
Why are people comparing to Ryse? No character in Ryse has such majestic facial hair.

King Oswald. someone please find a higher quality picture for me. looks quite good.

I can't wait to play Quantic Dream's Blue is the Warmest Color.

180k poly vulvae.
Haha. It's pretty hilarious and typical that the "French" making of for Heavy Rain some print magazine in France made spends 90% of its time with how they modelled Madison's boobs and bra, how Cage tried to get as much nudity as possible past censorship into the Japanese version and how the American producer at Sony grins like he is having a boner watching the strip scene for the first time: http://youtu.be/DWdGGrnyHp0?t=51s (NSFW, nipples, a lot of moaning and really French)

Been new im not sure of the lay of the land here, but is there a relationship between those noy impressed with the Orders graphics and been a PC gamer?

it has nothing to do with pc gaming. fact is this is the best looking tps yet. I played Max Payne 3 maxed out on my 7970 last year and it certainly didn't look as good as this :p

tomb raider as well

IMO Quantum Singularity also looks great. I am sure PC will get a fare share of great looking tps games down the road

It's interesting that they've got really attractive looking characters, but in a very normal/realistic kind of way.

The strangest thing about this project for me is the question of scope. RaD are only 90 people or so, obviously we're not getting an open London we can stroll around, get a horse and cart and tour, or get on a airship and check out from the skies, and obviously it's not all going to be twenty foot wide back streets, but where they'll fall between those extremes will be very interesting. It seems kind of impossible such a small staff could muster this project at all, that's my only real source of concern, it does seem like too grand a project, especially if they really are making scenes reminiscent of those concept art pieces.
I'm pretty sure I saw a number of 110 flowing around in relation to RAD's current size. And like Naughty Dog, they could be outsourcing some of the more laborous tasks and have the team at Ready at Dawn focus more on the tech, design & gameplay aspects.

Also, I don't necessarily mind if they go a bit smaller scope than Uncharted, on average. The game should have some pretty horror-filled moments with dark corridors/rooms/places and werewolves going about, which don't need huge landscapes and open spaces to be fun. If anything, those are even scarier in confined spaces.

Also 100% there will be open areas (not saying this just because of the concept art). This isn't just "corridor after corridor".

Of course there will be. At the very least we'll see scenes and locations as impressive as in U2.

Nepal hotel top = London rooftops
Nepal village = Bustling London streets
Train battle = Airship battle

Fixed that for you:
Nepal hotel top = Almost empty London alleyway
Nepal village = Almost empty London alleyway
Train battle = Almost empty London alleyway

Been waching the footage ad nauseam for the last couple of days, and by the beard of Zeus, it looks mindblowingly good. The formidable tech they've implemented combined with the coherent and strong art direction makes the whole package a feast for the eyes. The animations are really impressive too (the clothes physics and the facial expressions...). RAD challenging ND and Santa Monica confirmed!

Ryse wasn't like this until they had the drowngrade+ shader boost look:

Cryengine/Ryse has a very specific eye shader to mimic parallax/eyedepth. It is multilayerd and requires more geometry than just a normal sphere. In the end, you get an eye that reflects with that permeable glass look which eyes really have.

Shinobi, I'm ready to be wowed after what I would call a poor showing this past Tuesday. This game is my most hyped game of 2014. I'm expecting a HUGE blowout on info and a PLAYABLE mission at E3 so people get a chance at hands on impressions.

There are going to be quite a few area's like Tenzin's village from Uncharted 2, and by that I mean moments where you can "catch your breath" from the action, or take in the atmosphere, and generally explore without being in everpresent danger

100k polys, and 1 linear corridor. Welcome to next gen, gentlemen.

Yep, there is no open world title, no experimental indie game...nothing except linear software on the horizon. This pseudo-ellitist attitude is tiring, If you are not interested in the game, it strikes me as an attempt of trolling to post in a thread that has nothing to do with your intervention...

Right because youve seen the full game already? We have verification from insiders and the devs themselves that state there are open areas in the game and its not just alleyways.

Edit: Ok so my sarcasm detector had a misfire here.

GG Bish is still gonna get a workout today

thanks for the link Viveks :D Can't wait to learn more about the story. The story trailer they released had me pretty hyped. Far more so than the released gameplay thus far.

You know this for certain?

I heard the whole game takes place inside a privy round the back of a terraced house near Aldgate East tube station. That's why the characters are so detailed.

Guerrilla Games and most recently Sucker Punch are in the same league as those aforementioned guys in terms of their grasp tech. Surprising though that Guerrilla has shown the least impressive game graphically thus far. But for their cause the game was a launch title so I'm expecting their next game to handedly beat out the titles released by the other guys.
