Latest drivers: (as at 21/12/2017)
Nvidia: 388.71
AMD: 17.12.2
Intel: Depends on your processor; download the driver update utility

Tips and tricks:
Various CPU/GPU benchmarks and data: See this GameGPU article. Additionally, this companion article compares Mantle and DX11 on AMD GPUs.
Note: The articles are in Russian, but the data is presented via graphs.
Cap the framerate/potentially improve frametimes: Download RivaTuner Statistics Server, input your desired framerate limit in the "Framerate limit" box, and hit enter (the program comes bundled with MSI Afterburner and earlier versions of EVGA PrecisionX). Alternatively, those with an Nvidia GPU have the option of Nvidia Inspector, which can also be used to impose a framerate cap, either in a similar manner to RTSS or by way of forcing a different vsync interval (click the small tool icon to open the game profile section).
Note: Useful if you your system can't maintain, say, 60fps and you're sensitive to the wild fluctuations, or you're experiencing uneven frametimes. The greater window the engine has to render a given frame, if you're imposing a lower framerate than the game can otherwise provide, may also help in alleviating stuttering related to data streaming.
Stop the game from crashing after 15 minutes on touch-capable systems running Windows 10: Open the task manager, switch to the Services tab and disable TabletInputService.
Mitigate stuttering: Use the 32-bit executable rather than the 64-bit one. (Credit to ambientmystic.)
Note: So that you're launching the 32-bit executable through Steam directly, navigate to SteamApps\common\Thief\Binaries\Win64, rename Shipping-ThiefGame.exe to Shipping-ThiefGame.exe.64, and copy into the folder the executable from SteamApps\common\Thief\Binaries\Win32. Do note, however, that any patches will replace the executables and so this step will, if the stuttering persists, need to be repeated post-update.

Graphics settings:

As with Tomb Raider, unchecking Exclusive Fullscreen means you're running the game in borderless windowed mode. Vsync support is in the form of double and triple-buffering.

Presets: Very Low; Low; Normal; High; Very High; Custom
Texture quality: Very Low; Low; Normal; High; Very High
Shadow quality: Low; Normal; High; Very High
Depth-of-field quality: Normal/High
Texture filtering quality: Trilinear; Default (2x AF?); 4x AF; 8x AF; 16x AF
SSAA: Low (2x?)/High (4x?)

My benchmarks:
Specs:
2600K @ 4.6GHz
8GB DDR3-1600
2x overclocked 2GB 670s (335.23)
Win8.1 x64

Settings:
1680x1050, vsync off
Texture Quality: Very High
Shadow Quality: Very High
Depth-of-Field Quality: High
Texture Filtering Quality: 8x AF
SSAA: Low

SLI enabled:

SLI disabled:

Relative differences (enabled versus disabled):
Minimum: +6.7fps (+~18%)
Average: +13.8fps (+~26%)
Maximum: +48.3fps (+~70%)

SLI scaling could be better. Performance is okay, though, so I'll play while waiting for Nvidia to release new betas.

Edit: Updated results to reflect 335.23 drivers.

i5 2500K @ 4.3GHz
8GB DDR3
4GB 770GTX (OC'd)

Resolution: 1920x1080
Vsync: Off
Texture Quality: Very High
Shadow Quality: Very High
Depth-of-Field Quality: High
Texture Filtering Quality: 16x AF
SSAA: High (4x?)

Additional: 16x AF and 8x Transparency Supersampling forced via drivers.

Benchmark:
Low: ~35fps
High: ~87fps
Average: ~59fps
Note: Actual play less demanding, thus performance is greater. 60fps+.

Note #2: Pretty sure SSAA is broken. Off -> High makes no difference for me in visuals and benchmark results.

SSAA is Super-Sampling Anti-Aliasing? Is this more demanding than MSAA? I think so, but not really sure.

Shit! CPU bottleneck there?

How did you guys get your hand sont he game already?

Oh, review copies?

The game unlocked in certain Asian territories about 90 minutes ago. See my guide here if you'd like join in.

Yes. Supersampling essentially renders the game at a higher resolution by a nominated factor and then brings it back to your chosen resolution. So for example, at 1920x1080 with 4x SSAA you'd actually be running the game at 3840x2160 (four times the resolution of 1920x1080).

Almost finished downloading, hope I can get the VPN working, sure i did it before.

Should run quite nice on my new 780 ti :)

Steam seems to "phone home" less often these days. When I disabled the VPN, the "Play" button remained for a good 10-15 minutes, whereas in the past it'd revert back to "Pre-load" in less than a minute. Could have been a bug, though.

Need to go into offline mode to play though yeah? been a while since i did this.

FlyVPN's sessions are only limited to 20 minutes but Steam won't boot you out of the game after you're disconnected. Offline Mode is only necessary if you think you'll be engaging in multiple sessions in a small space of time, as in such cases fighting for a spot in either of FlyVPN's servers time and time again would prove bothersome.

Thanks for the info, got it unpacking now. :)

I had to download an additional ~200MB of data so I'd kill the VPN when the download starts as FlyVPN is quite slow. I bought the DDE, though, so if you have the standard edition the number might be lower or even non-existent.

why would a 2600K be a bottleneck? :x

Single threaded renderer with too many drawcalls (big city, lots of unique assets, better distance LOD).

Mantle support incoming and a lot of bench talking.

I guess if that cpu bottleneck fixable with mantle occurs only in benchmark scene or is a trend in the game regular levels. Is 30 fps on consoles?

Thank you for the answer!

So how can you do 2x SSAA? Would it be 3840x1080 or 1920x2160? Does that even make sense?

2xSSAA would be the resolution that would result in 2x more pixels.

@ 1920x1080:
2X SSAA = 2688x1512
3X SSAA = 3264x1836
4X SSAA = 3840x2160

I've heard a few reports of SSAA being broken in the game though (not working).

Well first of I am a morron! Second: Thank you.

Which region did you unlock from? My options are Australia, Hong Kong and Korea...

Also, what are the steps for killing the VPN for the patch download? Do I unlock, wait for decrypt, then kill the VPN?

If the patch starts right away, and I disable the VPN, won't Steam relock the game?

Am I going to struggle to get this to run on a smooth 60fps throughout on 1920 x 1080 display?

Gtx titan
Amd 8350 4ghz 8 core
32gb ram
Can't wait to change CPU

If not would it better to run half refresh rate (hopefully condtant 30fps) and everything turned up?

See my post here for a list of regions (I connected to the secondary server so I opted for Thailand, but Hong Kong and Korea will do just fine). You can kill the VPN once Steam begins decrypting/downloading and re-enable it once the process is complete.

Anyone been able to get SweetFX working with this game? No luck for me so far. Tried injecting it directly into the folder and Radeon Pro with no luck.

Fantastic. Finished the first level and now I insta-die at the start of the second. Game auto-saved at the exact point where I begin falling through the level, so now I have to start from the very beginning of The Drop again. FML.

Nixxes did this so I assume it'll be a good pc transition.

Anyone with a gtx780? Does it run really well?

Seeing the system requirements, it looks similar to Metro Last light.

You can save anywhere in the game, right? Did you have previous save games in mission 1 you loaded? Did this happen every time you completed mission 1?
