Fuck, that means I'll probably never finish getting to all of the Picross 3D downloadable puzzles (there's way more than you can fit on the cart at one time) :(. I've been slowly working through them for a while now after finally finishing all of the downloadable puzzles for Picross DS (which has waaaay less cart space).

This. Plus all the extra Layton puzzles. Guess it's finally time to pick up a copy of last spectre.

Never will happen, but wish MS and nintendo could come together to build a live like service for nintendo products. Good revenue for MS and gives nintendo an actual decent online tool to work with.

The store is messy, no leaderboards, friends are terrible, no Mics, long load times, etc

One can dream :)

The fact that it's going to be 8 years until Smash 5 has voice chat is depressing.

This is such BS, I hate when this happens. Especially for the Pokémon titles...
How much does it cost to keep basic Pokémon internet stuff running smfh.
Times like this I just can't bear to take this news in a pragmatic fashion.

Oh my this is sad. None of the MegaMan games though? At least it isn't too bad, but those are some pretty huge games on that list. Some clearly had more time than others.

This is pretty dumb, I have lots of DS games in my backlog. I guess I should go download all the extra Layton 4 puzzles.

I just started Bangai-O, is this gonna affect downloads for that? I assume this affect Solatorobo too? I need a full compiled list.

So annoying, this shouldn't be happening for many more years.

Just remembered that I did play online on my DS once, over a public hotspot. Tetris DS against some Japanese guy. Pretty intense match.

OH NO, I forgot about this. Someone needs to compile a list of all the games you can download extras from.

Picross, Picross 3d, I know the first professor layton did.

Such a list would be helpful, yes.

Oh man Dragon Quest X...

I guess those servers are gonna be dropped in favor of the Wii U, PC, and Android.

That's because people pay for those services. Whether it is better or not on those systems (it is), or whether it's better and free on PC (it is) is one thing, but the consumer base for online services of Nintendo has been conditioned to expect free services without all the bells and whistles. Of course they/we would like more but that's a slow path of progress.

Personally, I wasn't a huge user of their wifi services but it was nice to be able to drop in anytime and get smashed in mario kart.

Its free on PS3. Still.

And yes people would be outraged but its for the simple reason that both the PS3 and 360 are still seeing new games with heavy online components.

The Wii has been a dead system for ages now. So its understandable why they're doing this but its still shit.

As long as the shops remain open, that's fine.

Actually, I still need to download Layton and Picross puzzles (never came around to it since the DS doesn't like WPA2). Will that stuff still be available?

fffff...completely forgot about that, I haven't even finished Diabolical Box!
NA is currently fine right? Either way, a bit of wake up call. I might just check out online modes I never bothered with on all my Wii and DS games though I'm sure a tonne of them will be empty...Animal Crossing, Dragon Quest IX, Order of Ecclesia, Battalion Wars 2, The Last Story, and plenty more I'm sure.

I wonder how many people use a Wii for Netflix still? If so, they're shit out of luck.

I'd hope no one would use a Wii for Netflix, I really do.

i assumed it was under the paid services banner. if not, i wonder why hulu is allowed.

i know a person who still uses it on wii, but just the one.

If sony and Microsoft did this for ps3 and 360 people would be outraged.
Hell, doing it for POKEMON is cause enough for outrage I feel. What the hell, it's crazy that's all going down when it's not even like the Wii and DS are long dead platforms. Pokemon White and Black 2 are just over a year old, and will be about one and a half years by the time this happens. That's like an EA Sports title shutdown, worse maybe.

No effect. Pokemon bank uses Nintendo Network.

Though if you have pokemon to trade in D/P/Pt, HG/SS or B/B2/W/W2, you should probably get on that.

If I transfer from D/P to B/W2 locally using my DS and 3DS and then from B/W to X/Y using the Bank/Transporter that should be fine right?

WTF!? I hate when companies do this, it's false advertising when you buy a game and the online doesn't work.
That's why they don't manufacture and sell the games anymore.

Any remaining new stock is old leftover retailer stock.

And in the off chance that they do actually still manufacture any of these games in April, they will likely remove the WFC logos.

I guess since this was such a monster success for Nintendo, they said screw online no one needs that anymore.

Well, guess I'll never get to play MKWii online. It has to be some kind of record for longest online servers kept up by the publisher for a title that was still selling at or near full price. My point of comparison is the EA/Activision approach of taking down servers 1-2 years after launch for games that cratered in price 3-6 months after launch.
