So let me get this straight. First they make fun of the fact "Arkham" is being overused in AC and then they still use Arkham in the title. Sigh.

I really don't like the name it makes the title feel, I dunno, small time. Wish they would have just called it Gotham City or Gotham Knight, Ashes of Gotham etc. Seriously you don't need "Arkham" to sell your game, you already have BATMAN in the title.

Well anyhow as long as there are no last gen versions I will buy the game day 1.

I do find it humorous that they're still holding onto the name Arkham for brand recognition when you're gonna be fine since it's a Batman game anyway. If anything, they could of just plastered "from the makers of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City" around the game, which they'll probably do anyway.

at last, for christ's sake
after the exercise in blandness that was Origins cant honestly wait for a new Rocksteady Arkham game, pretty sure it will be tons better

The problem myself and others have with the Arkham branding doesn't all come down to how it sounds. It keeps the games from taking a completely new spin, which is how things like the animated DC series/movies have stayed fresh over the years. They need to ditch it.

What if...

was in game engine of next-gen batman that they used for Origins trailer O_O

What if HR Block actually gave that "lost" 5 billion dollars back to everyone?

I was tired of Batman after AC. Unless its a different genre, I won't give it a second glance.

Actually not a different genre, because this is already the perfect genre for Batman. They would need to add alot of additions to the gameplay. Vehicles, appearances, something. Not because the game is boring, but what do you add to perfect? Everything else is... UC3.

So many "Wahh another Batman game!" replies. Please feel free to ignore its existence, the people who love this series will keep buying it, thanks.

There have tons of Batman games over the years, most of them bad. "Arkham" is how you denote that this is THIS kind of Batman game, this particular series. That's what branding is all about.

It doesn't mean shit to the people here who know what this is because of gameplay vids, knowledge of Rocksteady, etc. But for the regular consumer, that's how you know that what you're buying is what you like and what you're familiar with. That's why branding exists at all.

Says who? The reason you're not getting a "completely new spin" on the gameplay isn't because WB wants to stick with the Arkham subtitle, it's because this is the kind of game that Rocksteady creates; this is their formula. It's like asking Retro to make a Metroid game that doesn't play like Prime, or Naughty Dog to make an adventure game that doesn't play like Uncharted. This is their specific formula. The only way you're getting a Batman game with a completely new spin is if it's done by a completely new team.

I think he was talking about the storyline more than the gameplay. If I'm right in that assumption, then I agree. If he's talking about the gameplay, then HELL NO because that combat system ROCKS

As I mentioned before, Rocksteady should do their damnedest to make a good Bruce Wayne game.
They've already made a great Batman game. Their goals should be on doing what Hollywood never really did.

And adding variety to their gameplay.

You overestimate what this gen is capable of, especially this early.

If the game is next gen exclusive then I'll take an interest, even though I skipped Origins. I would much rather have a Rocksteady Justice League game myself.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
I am REALLY excited about this game, and I hope Rocksteady continues to make awesome Batman games, but I wouldn't mind if they alternated - Batman: Arkham a Knight, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game (please), another Batman (or expanded DC property from the Arkham games) game, etc.

I'm hyped for a new Batman game, it'll probably be cross gen at this stage but I'll buy it on PS4 anyhow. The more Batman the better.

Man, they're really never gonna let that "Arkham _____" thing go at this point, are they?

They might drop it at some point, I personally feel this will be the last "Arkham" game in the series. I think WB knows that the title "Batman" sells more than anything else.

Can't wait for this one, but I do agree with everyone else that we're due for a lot of cool other DC hero games. Green Arrow would fit well with Rocksteady (no powers), or Superman if they want to take on a serious challenge.

Hopefully they have a good writer for Knight, City was a huge unorganized mess, though Origins stepped it up somewhat (as Derrick pointed out before his unfair ban). Get Conroy a voice director too so he delivers with more passion this time around.

All the complaints will stop as soon as the new game shows something you couldn't do in City or Origins. Origins' only NEW contributions were more areas to fly over, the shock gloves, and fast travel. Nothing special over all, no major tweaks to the gameplay or new characters to play with like Catwoman in City. That's why you see complaints of fatigue.

I'm wondering if Knight can be the kind of jump that City was from Asylum. I wanna have faith in Rocksteady if they've been working on this bitch for 3 years

A great comic by the name of Planetary, explores a lot of pulp/genre fiction like Godzilla, John Woo action movies, James Bond, and one issue they went up against the various forms of Batman. It was a very smart, entertaining book with some fantastic artwork.

Worth noting it was a side-issue, not part of the main run. The Incredible Hulk issue was another one that was a one-off. I think it's Warren Ellis' finest work. Too bad he didn't get to progress in Desolation Jones.

Lots of truth in this post. It's one of the reasons I didn't go in for Origins. Nothing new and for whatever reason the electricity gloves just don't see very "Batman" to me at all, if that makes sense. I also thought the cast of villains was the weakest of the 3 games.

Cannot agree with this because of Deathstroke and Lady Shiva. But the fact that I don't remember too many of the other assassins is proof you're not far off the mark.

Easily. Take-Two pushed the limits of what's reasonable with PS360 hardware, and while they ran up a sky high bill, a lot of that came from all the extra shit. I think Rocksteady could easily add several changes we've all been complaining about and revolutionize the character again.

Deathstroke and Shiva were in the game, yeah, but they were used terribly. Bossfights against Bad Guy Batman With Swords and the best fighter in DC should have been amazing, but instead they just pop out of nowhere, go out like scrubs and then are never seen again (except for Deathstroke doing pushups in his cell, I guess). I spent the entire game expecting Deathstroke to come back out for a real fight, or for the next chapter of the multi-part Shiva sidequest to unfold, but it never happened.

I'm finding it hard to believe that this will only be on PS4/Xbone. Not happening, sadly. Too much of an install base.

They've built up a decent framework for future Batman games with Arkham City - I doubt they will come up with a jump like Ayslum-->City.

I cant wait to see another UE3 crossgen game set in a snowy nighttime Gotham city with no pedestrians/traffic outside!

I'm still waiting for him to finish Fell. :
