Like that the characters don't seem to be sinewy, roided grotesqueries this time around. Now to see if they iron out all the other aesthetic messes from Arkham City. It's like the most technically impressive, seemingly fun game I've seen that I can't play because of how repulsive it looks.

lol, Arkham City did kind of creep me out. People saying it looks like the comics are clearly reading different comics from all the countless Batman stories I've read.

Arkham Origins went a long way in getting away from that, and Arkham Knight has seemingly gone a step further. Loving it so far.

As far as no civilians...I'm not sure how they stop jerk-offs from running them over. The sociopaths among us are basically keeping us from cool shit like that, I think.

...A car is the new "innovation" here for this sequel?... Jesus Christ, Rocksteady, please don't tell me you've wasted the two years or so on just... this. Is this what we've come to now? Driving a car is exciting for a sequel?

Incoming car chase sequences similar to that of 007 Blood Stone (not that those were bad or anything but they're hardly... what I'd call innovative or new for a game, especially Batman of all things -- you could do a lot more than the Batmobile...)

I guess we'll see.

Lol, I think you're on to something there.

Dayummmmmmmmmmm no curren gen version. Some balls on Rocksteady.

Probably would have preferred for it to be out next year tho. Get the impression this won't be that crazy a step up from City.

Yeah, I'm sure they spent 3 years just adding a car to the game. Come on now...

From looking at the trailer, what might make it innovative is that you can leave you batmobile parked anywhere and it maybe able to drive to you than you running to it. Let's see how that goes. But then again, it ain't any different than GTA taxi. Regardless, next-gen Batman!

No Silver Age Batman?

Or was that debunked long ago?

You have to think about rumors sometimes. It's like the "Telephone" game you play as a kid: You whisper this one thing, and then it transforms into something else entirely as someone else whispers it to another person.

In this case, I'm assuming when they said "Silver Age Batman", what they actually meant was a game where Batman was just starting out. We got that in Arkham Origins. It even featured him battling the Joker, as they said he would.

The rumor ALSO said the game would be next-gen only and feature the Justice League. That part just might be true still, since this is indeed for PS4/XB1. Let's see what the "telephone" game does to "Justice League".

isn't this a Batman Arkham City sequel? Batman supposed to finish the problem inside Arkham City between one night at the game. After all you dispose almost every enemy except Calendar Man, Azrael and Hush. How is that most of the enemies you defeat are back again? and almost with not signs of remember anything

The point is it was their own take. It made it feel unique. I loved Rocksteady's style and character designs. Now they're just copying Origins nolan style. It doesn't look good at all.

Kind of underwhelmed. Seeing the exact same villains is kind of a letdown.

Agree 100%.

Also people that fear it's UE3, that engine is quite flexible. Even if they use it they mist likely modified it and made it work. I wouldn't worry about that.

Current gen...

Looking at Thief, I'm not optimistic. At best it'd be how the Arkham games looked on PC - 1080p/30, plus some lighting/smoke effects.

Watch THIS: http://www.unrealengine.com/unreal_engine_4/

This has the same quality, assets model types, lighting and behaviour

The same can be said for Routine (but it is an FPS).

Unreal Engine games are very distinguishable even if they chnage the number from 3 to 4 , they always have the same feel and you can recognize them at first sight.

Uh, that trailer for Batman is a CG trailer likely done by Blur studios. Not an in-game trailer... Hard to judge the engine based on a trailer not using the engine.

It's been yearly for some time now. This is WB's take on AC/CoD at this point.

  • 2009 Arkham Asylum
  • 2011 Arkham City
  • 2013 Arkham Blackgate (Handheld/mobile)
  • 2013 Arkham Origins (WBG Montreal, not Rocksteady)
  • 2014 Arkham Knight, back to Rocksteady whose last game was in 2011

Edit: Beaten

So we lose the awesome Arkham traversal, in favor of shitty open-world-game driving? Seems like a step in the wrong direction.

What a waste of perfectly good 4 minutes. I'm not a big fan of games debuting with anything else but gameplay. The story is your typical Batman nonsense. Big surprise.

I don't understand why people are whinning about the CG trailer. I mean I can't even remember the last time that a video game was announced and it was a gameplay trailer. Seriously. Come on people. Chill. The gameplay is coming.

And that was an excellent trailer. Thomas Wayne's VA was exceptional. Best Batman trailer since Arkham City. Got that Nolan feel to it.

Ignore the haters Roacksteady. Just give us a great, bug-free game!

Asylum: 2009
City: 2011
Origins: 2013
Knight: 2014

Yeah that's totally yearly for some time.

I was gonna post this as well. A 2-year dev time between Asylum and City, and a 3-year dev time between City and Knight, with another studio throwing in Origins in between, and yet some people still want to complain. This is not Call of Duty, people.
