Yeah. Who else would publish Lolliop Chainsaw!

They even bundled it with a Sucker Punch Blu-Ray in some countries. That's some faith in their game right there. :p

But they also published The Witcher 2 on 360 and I respect that (somehow they bundled a bunch of episodes of Game of Thrones with that one). Look, mature fantasy! Mead and wenches!

This may be the one I actually completely play through entirely. Something about the previous 2 games that I felt lacked something. Batmobile?

Why do we still have CG trailers?

CG trailers were nice when systems didn't have the ability to capture what a CG trailer could, but we're past that point now. If the game isn't far enough in development to show in-engine footage, wait until it's ready. They could have released a screenshot from the end of the video and it wouldn't have made less of an impact.

EDIT: Apparently other people still like CG trailers. Nvm what I said, then. I've probably just become jaded over the years, for whatever reason.

Anyone also think Arkham Knight kinda sounds..... undeserving for a final conclusion? I'd much rather go with Arkham Legacy, or something in those lines. Ah well, title isn't that important. Although I feel the path they're taking is a little underwhelming (Bruce looks much different, it has too much of a Nolan vibe in it), in Rocksteady we trust.

He has come to deal justice. Knight works perfect because it exemplifies his noble traits. He has become the man his father always wanted him yo be.

Was just going to respond when I noticed the edit. Good call! :p

Yup, just noticed the press release in the OP. Crazy hyped. Argh PS4 or PC? :(

Do you want to play at 1080p30 or 1080p60. I'd put good money that this will be 30 fps on consoles. I'm hoping this game will be a pack in with Nvidia 8xx series gpu's. Maybe I'll keep my 580 around to do the PhysX on this game.

Details?

Yeah details.

- Takes place in a new central zone of Gotham; split into 3 islands. Area is roughly 5 times the size of the Map in Arkham City.
- Increased the top glide speed and lengthened his hang time to compensate the larger area.

Doesn't this statement come across as entitled to you? We have three mainline Batman games over the course five years and two console generations; Final Fantasy has three lightning games in three years; Call of Duty has a game every Fall; EA promotes yearly sports games. That's playing it safe.

Yet Rocksteady creates the two best Superhero games we've ever seen, and we're clamoring at the bit to judge the completion of what they claim is a trilogy (first I have heard of it). Still - we have plenty of time to see this one out before we start calling it playing it safe. It's what we expected, but this is the one studio and one game I don't expect to be a cash cow.

How is what I said entitled?

Warner Bros. should think much bigger with their brands and in the one area where they already have an upper-hand on Disney and Marvel, they should capitalize on it. Marvel has built the Avengers into strong individual brands, and are now at the point where they can do projects like Guardians of the Galaxy.

Warner should strongly consider the same. Another Batman game is playing it safe. Just like making Man of Steel 2 a Batman and Friends movie is playing it safe.

I enjoyed playing both Batman games. Arkham Asylum more than City, but still. The narrative and overall story for both were laughably terrible. Hopefully with the final 'Arkham' game, they do much better on that front. I also hope that making area of play bigger doesn't lead to even larger deadzones of nothingness that in my opinion, Arkham City suffered from greatly.

They're the best, though. Arkham city's and onward.

Maybe. I have just never understood them for video games past the PS2-era. They do absolutely nothing for me.

CG movie? Sure, I'll love a trailer, because it's actually representing the final product.

They need to build up hype even if the game is not ready to be shown. Pre-Rendered trailers like this are often farmed out to external VFX houses. That way they have something to showcase, keeping shareholders happy while the actual game is being worked on.

Besides, you'd be surprised by the number of people who can't tell they are watching a pretendered clip and actually think the game'll look like that. I overheard some bros at the gym when AC:IV was unveiled and they thought the trailer was representative of the actual game.

MOAR.

Thanks. Loving that they've tweaked the glide speed and hang time. Hopefully it's not too generous. One of the best things about City was planning your route if you wanted to glide boost your way around the entire City.

Well, it wasn't twist after convoluted twist like the ending of AC.

Origins spoilers;
The Black Mask twist is far more convoluted, and though I believe Troy Baker could impersonate Black Mask (and does) I don't believe Joker doing so.

The other assassin's play no relevant role in the plot. There are no Mr. Freeze's giving you a cure, explaining their involvement. Nope, only Penguin helps explain any of the story, because he's the ... guy who bought the equipment that recorded the assassin's. Firefly's just there. Copperhead's ... just there.

Bane is a well done character, until he breaks into the Batcave, smashes the bat computer, pushes Alfred over, then ... leaves? To ... team up with Joker because ... he wants to face Batman? But, dude, you were in his home. You could have had your showdown right there.

And where some characters are written way better than in Asylum or City (namely Bane, Joker and Alfred) others like Lady Shiva are badly mishandled where characters like Talia Al Ghul weren't.

And some things were just badly done outright, like explaining Bane's mental state in Asylum and City.

I'm not saying Origins had a crap story, but I just think it being better than Asylum and City's stories is greatly exaggerated. City opens itself up for complaint because it tries to give you a story that explains meeting a large amount of Batman's rogues gallery, where Origins just invites and makes no more sense of it than that.

Very excited for this! And VERY happy this is next gen only! I was sure it would be cross-gen, so this definitely surprising. Is there any concrete confirmation they are using Unreal Engine 3? Or is that just an assumption based on the magazine pic? It's be strange to use UE3 and not be cross gen when they could probably easily scale it down. I really hope it's UE4 or a vastly upgraded 3.5 like the Unreal Samaritan demo. I'd go crazy for a Batman game with Samaritan level graphics.

Origins story Was not good, lol

I liked it better than the other two. Its not ground breaking but I think its much better than AC's.

I liked his discussions/relationship with Alfred, Gordons attitude seems understandable, Bane is actually portrayed properly, and they explain why he acts like a complete idiot in AC/AA. Joker is freaking insane like he should be. I didn't like how deathstroke and shiva went down so easy, and how joker was the antagonist yet again.

I didn't like AC's order of events. It seemed wierd to have raj by the mastermind when you already beat him earlier in the game, and then have the joker show up immediately.

AA was just a wierd story built around the setting. You played fetch for the villains for most of the game and it was predictable.

In both games Bruce really doesn't have any development. Plus he acts like a complete dick to pretty much everyone he talks to.

hmmm origins was pitched as twice the size of city.

improved flight is nice, but then why should i be driving at all then?

Still, yeah, fuck this industry and all of its self-imposed creativity-limiting shackles. If you want to put words in my mouth and interpret this as an ad hominem attack on the developers, be my guest. But you'd be wrong.

Just because a dev is making sequels and not new IP's doesn't mean this industry is awful and creativity-limiting. If they are happy making Batman games then good for them and me because I enjoy playing them.

If i made a really good game and had other ideas on how to build upon it and make it even better I wouldn't mind doing it as opposed to making a new completely different game just because

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much

I agree with you, in 2014 we should be getting excited by gameplay footage not the same old FMV stuff.

Finally batman with good body proportions. I hate overly muscular batman and I hope they stick with that proportions in-game too.

Trailer was awesome and finally my wish come true driving the batmobile and it's a nice mix of the batman movie from 1989 at leas the top of it and the rest has a reference to the tumbler not all of it but it looks fantastic. I do hope the PC is not a mess like Arkham City was. HYPED!
