Girl just reached Neptune in Noby Noby Boy

Just started up Noby Noby Boy and it looks like Girl reached Neptune. Only Pluto left now (does it still count?)

Noby Noby Noby Noby Noby Noby Booooyyyy

That blasted song still wriggles into my brain, and I haven't played the game in many years.

I honestly forgot all about this game.

When I first got my PS3, I had my eye on this but never picked it up.

Bless the insane dozen people who must have been plugging away at this these last two years, gonna fire the game up and check it out.

I like that this game is still going. Fired it up the other day and noticed the progress too... Or maybe that was for the previous planet? I forget which it was.

I think they have been (understandably) using some ridiculously high multipliers since the first few planets were reached to keep things moving. There can't be that many people still playing.

Some previous arrival dates thanks to good old wikipedia

The moon was reached on February 23, 2009, just four days after release.
Mars was reached on May 23, 2009,[8]
Jupiter was reached on November 20, 2009.[9]
As of January 19, 2011 GIRL has reached Saturn.[10]
In the week of December 25 to December 31, 2011, Uranus was reached.[11]

How... could you not notice someone reaching Uranus? o_O

HEY OH

Neptune is the final planet in the Solar System. Pluto is just a hunk or ice rock in an odd orbit.

I also cannot believe people are still playing Noby Noby Boy. I had fun with it, but just for a few hours.

It seems like the first time you report your length a day the fairy-thingy? said it's in and good mood a multiplies the length by 2013.

It's still an accomplishment as based on the stats it reports only 30 or so people play on the weekdays with it going past 50 on the weekend. The highest person yesterday reached over 12 million in length. Which they seem to do everyday by himself/herself.

Never played this game, somebody explain to me why this is impressive.

Put simply, it's a game where you move this weird worm creature around and stretch it. Everyone's total distance stretched is added together into a single large worm creature that is stretching across the galaxy. If I stretch a mile in the game, the larger creature stretches a mile.

They need to stretch the ACTUAL distances of the planets.

Love this game, usually play it while waiting for a game to download from PSN.

Didn't Takahashi have a game being released part of a kickstarter project?

Does Neptune have a small playing area like the others? Can't stand that when you stretch a decent length, you are too long to stay on the entire level lol.

A few crazies left doing the elastic band trick.. for a game where you play as one.

Millions of PS3-hours spent stretching and folding@home.

Just the solar system, not the galaxy

what the hell is this game about? Google tells me nothing.

It's not so much a game, more an interactive toy. With an awful camera.

You control the titular Boy with dual sticks. Left stick moves one end of him, the right stick the other. He stretch out between each end. You can use this to loop around things and do other stuff. You play on a randomly generated box like level.

Outside of seeing how long you can make him, there's no score, no points, no goals. Just fannying about.

Each time you play, the max length you got the Boy is added to the world wide total. The total length of which has now got to Neptune.

Feel free to correct me if I've got anything wrong, as all this is from my hazy memory of it. I bought it when it first came out on PS3, played it a couple of times, WTF'd hard at the screen each time, then never touched it again.

That means people are still playing Noby Noby Boy... I don't know what to think about that.
This boggles my mind as well.
It's my 5 year old son's favourite game.

I'm sure he's not making a significant contribution to Girl's length or anything, but it's a bright and colourful game with no explicit rules, objectives or fail-states - just an absurd sandbox that's perfect for kids to go nuts in. He'll often cry with laughter watching Boy slingshot around the level, with an alien on a bike and a watermelon his back. The game is fucking nuts, and appeals to his sense of humour.

Who knows, maybe there's a secret army of 5 year olds keeping this game going.

That sounds adorable.

I love this fucking game. Whenever I would show someone the PS3 I would break this out and watch their jaw drop, then they'd spend several hours completely entertained by it.

I mean a few hours is all anyone can really get out of it, but it's a great toy and I still boot it from time to time.
