If there'll ever be a PaRappa 3, this guy made sure that he won't be involved. What a PR nightmare that would be for Sony! He may have lost a pretty good contract for a possible PaRappa 3, because of this attitude. I mean, it would be a niche game, so they don't need this kind of attitude from a VA.
The only question left is whether Nolan North or Troy Baker will get the role.

Please don't try to hire 'pros' when you can't even afford the original price,, and dont make deals over FACEBOOK; and stop trying to pretend to lawyer up over 100$ when you couldn't afford the full price. The dude saw that you and your friends were tools and bullshitted you all the way.

Roger Craig Smith, because if there's one thing this guy needs to learn, is that voice actors for video game characters are VERY replaceable. In some cases (like RCS), you get a much bigger improvement.

Surely there's some kind of copyright law or something that prohibits a character's voice actor from being commissioned to record fan fiction. Like I'm sure someone couldn't get Nolan North to play Nathan Drake in an incredibly racist source filmmaker video regardless of how much money they could throw at him.
I'd assume the voice actor is prohibited from playing that character outside of the ip holders giving it the go ahead.
He's certainly a scumbag for how he lead you on and took your money but wouldn't a professional voice actor always turn down work like that?

I'd seen voice actors do silly fan things before, like that Duke Nukem MAGFest video. I assumed Dred would let us know if there would be a problem beforehand, but you know what they say about assuming!
let me rephrase that:
- OP and his annoying buds handled this like amateurs. But then again it was a fan project. But usually you don't approach talent on facebook, they have agents for this
- The Parappa dude is also handling badly, and should be refunding the money

They are amateurs. Doesn't mean they deserve to get ripped off by the "talent". They made a good faith payment based on the "talent" telling them how much it would cost. Doesn't matter where the deal took place.

Really? The two guys were making a fan cartoon for no profits. They thought that maybe the original actor could help record 10 lines and approached him, without actually expecting much. It was them trying his luck. The VA decides to charge them (and they gladly paid what the VA asked for, there wasn't any negotiations or attempts to underpay what the VA asked for) and did not deliver. What original price are you talking about? The two fans are not the idiots here.
Read it again, the guy said that he could do it for less. And he wants the money because he's getting someone to help with the recording. He said 100 would be good but 50 to 75 is fine as well. When he said he needed 100 because of his contract and what not, the OP proceeded to pay him the full amount. The full 100 dollars was paid.
I hope Dred's agent chipped in at least five bucks for that replacement iPad.

The OP and his friend negotiated with Dred on a price and ended up paying in full; Dred was the instigator because he didn't turn his lines in on time (this went on for months), and he didn't bother giving them a refund. And even in spite of all that, OP and his friend were going to let it go, but Dred started talking smack on facebook:

Dred Foxx isn't exactly Nolan North. Calling them "amateurs" and saying they should talk to his agent is a bit of a stretch.
This guy seems to have built quite an ego for such a seemingly small role in a very niche game. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed PTR, but again, it's not like he's Nolan North or Jennifer Hale tier.
