Oh, yeah I meant for cutscenes or even in game. But it is just to give you a break. Nothing to do game wise as far as I know. I really don't know about weapon selecting. If I had to guess, it looked like from the streams last night that when you pressed up on the d pad for example, it would then show two more options pop up above the gun selected. I was picturing you press up again to see that option. Don't know for sure.

Yeah you just use the dpad. It's similar to peace walker but with extra buttons that split weapons in to 3 types. Dpad left for items. Can hold right on dpad and use the right stick to choose from grenades, magazines, c4 etc or just tap dpad for quick change. L1 and R1 are talk button and binoculars I think, not connected to items any more.

So quick selection using the D-Pad, and the right stick too for more options. Sounds great!

So it's just a simple "-pause-" screen. I'm cool with that, makes the game more exciting like you said but still let's me play at my own pace.

The options have individual buttons, i think it was triangle for flashlight and square for supressor, you can probably switch these on and off while aiming too?

Yep. I'm ready or this overhaul, big time.

Ah, I see.

I'm trying not to spoil myself on too much, but have we any word on whether that "David Hayter - Unknown Soldier" thing is true or not?

All signs point to false on that.

The ending only involves the actors listed in the opening credits, so Huey is in but no Amanda/Stranelove/Cecile or whoever else was rumoured.

This is what MGS 4 killed. I'm glad we have it back. The nonsensical stuff, the crazy community theories. I love that..

How did MGS4 kill that? I recall a lot of stupid theories regarding "young Snake" the first time he appeared on the trailers. Hell, people were even saying it was an older Otacon, another clone (It's always another clone), a flashback, I even remember some time travelling theory.

When Peace Walker first appeared with the promo art of Big Boss' close up, people were saying he was an older Otacon in the future...

Metal Gear Rising also brought a lot of dumb theories when it was first shown. People were claiming that the main character was not Raiden, but Gray Fox. Some people even claimed it was an older Sunny... I also remember seeing some people saying it was Laughing Octopus or Raidens' son...

People always make crazy theories about what the next Metal Gear main character may be, and it's always a lot simpler than that. I'm certain that Big Boss is the protagonist in both Ground Zeroes AND The Phantom Pain. No "body doubles", no "clones", no nothing.

Anyways... Any news on Ground Zeroes' ending...?

twitch stream buskandar88

Not sure if this is ps4 or capture card stream.
Any way to find out ? so we may see the ending here soon.

What, the ending? Please share it here. Most of us have been watching streams here and there but we haven't seen the ending.

Someone just streamed the PS3 version with the ending.

Couldn't hear things too great, but nothing happened that wouldn't expect. It's not jaw dropping. Just sad in a part.

That was incredibly underwhelming and nothing we hadn't really seen glimpses of in trailers or guessed.

The
TWO BOMBS inside Paz
was hokey as hell and if they were really implying what some people in the chat thought with
where the second one was hidden
then uuuuugh

I think the script didn't need to make people wonder. Wasn't a good move. That makes people take it less seriously. It does make me hate Skull Face more though.

I've never played MGS (yes I am ashamed) but damn that really looked underwhelming.
the two bomb story is pretty stupid I think. Who was that blonde guy with the sun glasses?

What, the ending? Please share it here. Most of us have been watching streams here and there but we haven't seen the ending.

There really was very little that the trailers didn't already show: they get Chico and Paz on board the helicopter, they find out that Paz has a bomb in here, they take it out, Big Boss disposes of it, and they head back to Mother Base, which is about to be inspected. They get closer to find that it's been under attack. Helicopter lands, Big Boss buys time for Kaz and some soldiers to make it to safety, they take off, Kaz freaks the fuck out about losing Mother Base and proceeds to threaten Paz, who suddenly wakes up and makes it to the door on the helicopter. She notifies the rest of the crew that she had another bomb implanted in her and jumps out, but not quick enough for the explosion to not catch the helicopter, and it goes spinning out of control. The last image you see is another helicopter that it's about to slam into, and then the credits hit.

There's some text that shows up at that point, but it's untranslated. There is a short conversation at the end between Skull Face (I think? Some people said it was Ocelot, but it didn't sound anything like what we've heard of Troy Baker's performance so far) and Paz, who is trying to get information about the whereabouts of CIPHER and Zero. He promises her that Big Boss will be spared if she cooperates, so she agrees to whatever he has in store for her, and the conversation ends right when she's about to give up the location of Zero.

Wait, the two bombs thing was true? Eh...

So Paz is dead then.

Yeah, she's done. Unless they're pulling some kind of doppelganger bullshit, she dies in the explosion triggered by the second bomb when she jumps out of the helicopter

How does it end then? Do we see how BB ends up in the coma? Is it just a result of the
second bomb?
Paz wakes up after getting one bomb removed in the Helicopter, after they go back to Mother Base and Big Boss rescues Kaz, and says there's another bomb basically and jumps out. We see her blow up (not graphically) and the explosion causes a blow back which enters into the helicopter. Big Boss is pushed back and it seems like another helicopter is about to hit them and it ends.

So can we not do open spoilers in this thread?

So this could suggest that
Ocelot attempted to assassinate Big Boss on orders from Cipher to keep up his triple agent mess or he has another motive.

Geez, do they really have to cut back on BB's lines to that extent?

Looks like the channel was banned, did he get to play any of the completion tapes?

Cursory observation: does it seem like that Kojima is being somewhat picky with Paz?
It's weird to me that this game is trying to draw out sympathy for someone who was so unabashedly evil at the end of Peace Walker. Like, there's a base resentment for what Skull Face's troops do to her, but in order for that to work, you have to ignore or even forgive her actions at the end of Peace Walker in the service of CIPHER. Feeling bad for Chico's misguided infatuation is a really flimsy reason for any kind of turnabout for a woman who was pretty set on killing Big Boss. I wonder if Kojima is trying to distance himself from how poorly received chapter 5 in PW was and is hoping no one notices. I just can't feel anything for her death, not in the least of which is that by all rights she should be fish food after sinking to the sea floor with ZEKE.

Well, it depends on
whether it was Ocelot or Skull Face in that recording. If it's Skull Face, it sounds like he wants to take Zero down by any means necessary, willing to kill Big Boss in the process (by lying about not hurting him and implanting a second bomb in Paz).
In any case, seems that Paz's death is used as an emotional trigger that starts the whole Phantom Pain chapter. Never cared for her in PW to be honest so I'm indifferent to that bit.

I can say I felt bad about it. It's just playing on a morale man's anger toward the act.
She did go bad girl at the end of PW, but it wasn't played out seriously.

Well:

They already established sympathy for Paz in the briefing tapes in Peace Walker, with Paz actually starting to like everyone on Mother Base,

Love Deterrence is also mentioned in the tape, the song she was supposed to sing or something like this, she then not only played a role but actually felt like a true part of Snake's team

I choose not to think of Paz as the bikini wearing Pacifica Oceana who betrays Mother Base and pilots a mech. I refuse to accept many of the things in that game as canon, but that most of all.

As far as I'm concerned Paz gave ZEKE's keys to Cipher, and Big Boss pushed her overboard.

Given PW's sales in US/Europe, I think they just went with "eh who cares whatever she's dying here anyway". Besides, NANOMACHINE HYPNOSIS was supposed to evoke a similar turnaround, and that was over four/five games.
