BTW, DS4 works great on PC, both as generic controller and via that DS4Tool app that emulates X360 gamepad.

At least those peasants can write their own drivers if they really want to. In fact, someone already did.

He didn't write drivers; he says as much in the description. There was one bloke who did put together his own drivers, however he later refused to release them, citing legal issues while in the same breath demanding that people support Dogecoin to overcome them, making the truth rather obvious -- he wanted to get paid for his work.

As someone with no plans to buy an Xbox One, I'm sort of [but only sort of] all right with having a separate package w/ a dongle. I much prefer playing wirelessly, and technically playing with a wireless 360 controller also required buying a controller bundle, unless you scout Amazon/eBay for the separate adapter.

What I don't like about this is:

A) If I ever decided to get an Xbox one, my already-purchased controller(s) are useless
B) Almost all deals over the years on 360 controllers are for the ones marketed towards 360 users, not Windows. So I'd rather not pay full price for all my controllers.

So, torn. 360 controller works fine for me for the time being, and I may consider a DS4 or Wii U Pro Controller setup if I get the itch to upgrade.

Jesus GAF! No point for meltdowns, it's the exact SAME as the wireless 360 Controller. You need the official wireless receiver to play.

If you want to be upset about this, start being upset in 2008.

No worries, wait for the community to build drivers or jump on the ds4 or steam controller or the good old 360 controller

So is their absolutely no way to use the Xbox One controller on a PC atm? or does it also have a community built driver/utility that allows it to be used on PC?

People are mad that Microsoft is circumventing both playing through Micro USB and lying that the controllers people bought now will have PC drivers released.

Loose sticks already sounds like an improvement over 360 sticks.

There's absolutely no way in hell they won't release drivers for the Xbone pad.

It would be pissing away loads of money.
How so? They can make more money by selling a controller with a dongle to PC gamers versus selling them just the controller. If they release the drivers it also means that people that already have the XB1 controller spend nothing on using the controller on their PC.

Gotta help pc gaming by leaving market space to the Steam Controller, amirite? This move really makes no sense.

X360 had the perfect balance, x1 feels like the sticks are greased or something. the only issue, very minor, is the d pad. I still dont like ds4 triggers they need more resistance to them but it is prob 2nd best controller. Sony should release official drivers it would make dolphin emulator experience much better due to 6 axis

shit my 360 controller disconnects now if I shake it or move the cable I was looking forward to upgrading looks like ill save up for a ds4...

This is dumb. People will want to buy the wireless dongle anyway because wireless is cool. No way this is true. Its just a ridiculous idea. What if you did buy the dongle and you want to play while your battery is dead?

More likely situation: They're simply not making the drivers available until the windows-specific package that includes the dongle is ready for retail.

Since the pad automatically switches over to USB when plugged in, the drivers will have to support that mode of operation, so once the drivers are available you'll be able to use your existing pads just fine so long as they're plugged in (and even in the unlikely even that they didn't want to provide a separate download for nefarious reasons, let's face it, once they're out in the wild they'll be easily available regardless).

M$ indeed. Not surprising they already fucked over 360 owners by not supporting some of their old peripherals. While Sony seems support of some of the PS3 stuff like the wireless headset, T500 steering wheel and maybe some other things.

I know you're joking but it has a trackpad, which is actually pretty nice to use with the latest dstool.

I was partially being sarcastic, but the Touchpad could prove worthy for select games. I'm pretty sure it can function as three separate buttons, not including swiping.

Yup. It's been great to use to navigate while not in big picture mode and for some game UI who aren't the most controller friendly/compatible.

Mad for a rumor?
Well i guess why gaming site always report strange "news",because it just need to put a "source" in the article then many people will automatically believe it

Sucks for people who already own Xbox One pads, but if you don't it actually doesn't affect you.

X1 controller is a step back from x360 controller anyway, the sticks feel so loose and those bumpers are horrible

Yeah but the real reason I give a shit is because the Dpad doesn't suck. That's all I want: A good Xinput controller with two sticks and a not-shitty Dpad. Right now the best option is the MLG pad which is freaking $100.

I'm really starting to show more interested in the Steam controller.

MS doing the opposite of the right thing for PC gaming sounds about right these days. Making some paltry money from an already small enough niche instead of properly supporting their own platform.

Just get a controller with a good dpad then.

Haha wow, fuck this if it's true.

After my wired 360 controller broke I was waiting for these drivers so I could just buy an Xbone controller and avoid spending extra money on a controller I'd ditch sometime down the road. I guess I should have just picked up another 360 controller a while ago.

So...
  • Are there any fanmade Xbox One drivers that have actually been released? I was looking around a hile ago and saw a couple things that were in development, but nothing that I could actuall use right now.
  • How good is the PS4 controller for PC use? Simple to get it working exactly like a 360 controller would with my Steam games? Can I use it over USB or only with Bluetooth?
  • Any recommendations on good, cheap wired 360 controllers? I don't care if it's Logitech or Madcats or hatever as long as it's fairly cheap and won't break.

You know why its the most likely situation? It's the only one on this thread thus far that even makes any SENSE.

I can't believe so many of you are getting so riled up over some rumor from some no name website.

they released a "windows" version of 360 controller too; 360 controller still worked fine. Since this will be wired, I expect the same

Of course the PC would need a new dongle. They use a proprietary and new signal. I thought this was expected.

Pretty much, hopefully they can make a dongle version that is like a smaller USB drive size, and not the current X360 dongle. I'm okay with this, but they should make connecting a XB1 controller via USB cord to your PC work with drivers, that's kinda needed.

Who cares. Grab your 360 controller, buy a dongle on Amazon for $10 (official ones are pricier, but I have a generic one from China and it worked effortlessly) and you are good to go.

I am one of those people that prefers the 360 controller anyway. I do like how the battery section of the Xbox One isn't jutting out, and of course the D-Pad, but everything else feels better on the 360 pad.

To everyone saying DS4 is there an updated guide/drivers somewhere? I tried it at release with some games but it didn't quite work right sometimes. E.g. mark of the ninja off the top of my head acted somewhat strange. When DS4 was plugged in it wouldn't center the screen and I couldn't see myself.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.
Loose sticks sink ships.

Different strokes for different folks. Personally enjoy looser sticks especially after the 360 sticks felt too similar to the tightness of PS2 sticks and had the same problems like drifting and slow turn.

I wish my DS3 was still working :(. Best controller I ever used besides weird ass triggers.

It's really nice for games that show a launcher before starting. One less reason to get up off the couch.

Cindres

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
Have they ever said it would be compatible? Just curious. My wired 360 pad is perfect for PC gaming that requires/benefits from a controller.

ps2 sticks weren't nearly as tight as 360.

Oh noes, what will I do? Oh that's right, I have a superior wired 360 controller to use on my PC.

I don't believe this news anyways, but it sucks for those who're still waiting for drivers.
