Rumor: Mirror's Edge 2 details

Welp, I'm fucking out.

From any other publisher, the news about multiplayer in ME2 would be great.

But this is EA. The people who insisted that SimCity NEEDED to be multiplayer and was impossible to do offline. They will make it always online in the worst possible way. I expect to constantly have to deal with "xXx_d1ckbutT_xXx" and his friends running around in my playground. I expect to have to deal with shitty servers that will get turned off as soon as sales drop off.

With all due respect, fuck off EA. I was willing to put up with Origin for this game, but no way in hell am I going to deal with the steaming pile of bullshit that is always online DRM. If this is gonna go down the way I expect, they've just lost my $60 dollars.

Always-online? I'm out. They really love this horseshit DRM, don't they? They always try to "explain" why it's needed...but it never is, and is just DRM.

- Faking nothing, the E3 2013 Mirror’s Edge 2 teaser was indeed entirely real time and generally unscripted, including the combat systems. Rocket Chainsaw has now seen both in motion in test environments, and they match up, graphically and mechanically.
Never expected anything else. Mirrors Edge is still one of the best looking games on PC. 1/3 of the screenshots in the Screenshots Thread are from Mirrors Edge :p

- Core goal of the reboot is to create an open world, living breathing city for you to explore.
Finally, this is going to be so awesome!

- Part of this open world environment includes a persistent, “always online” component. The open world is considered a multiplayer “playground” where other plays can drop-in/drop-out seamlessly, freely choosing their level of interaction with other players and the game world. A comparison to Journey‘s online feature was given as the closest example.

- Other general multiplayer components include co-op and competitive modes, such as time trials
As long as I can play the whole game offline, I'm totally ok with that. The online aspect could make the game even better.

I'm also really glad that it's still Mirrors Edge in the core, no weapons for Faith! :D

- Its target release date is in 2016. Sorry kids. Fingers crossed it comes around earlier!
Can't believe EA announced the game 3 years before release :(

2016? You're killing me. But hey, next gen Mirror's Edge and Gears in the same year? This could be the 2008 I wanted.

F*cking juniors. Overreaction much? You know that NFS: Rivals is a 'persistent online game' too, right? But that doesn't mean DRM? As in, you can play it offline solo if you want?

They're not going to pull a SimCity here and that's not what was implied at all.

We listened to the fans and are not making this into a shooter, but fuck the Simcity fans they clearly had no idea what they were talking about and always online is great.

I think a linear course/level design suits Mirror's Edge much better than an 'open world'.

Generally agree - at least they need to have routes through the world that make for great time trials which is the most important aspect for me. Can be done though.
